I think I’m not the only one who has a big playlist on vk.com. Just recently I was wondering how to download music to listen to it offline. Soon I found a convenient service SaveFrom.net. And everything would be fine, but he doesn’t know how to pump out all the music at once. He offers us options:
1. Give us a bunch of urls so that we can insert the whole thing into a download manager, like DownloadManager
2. Save the playlist in m3u/pls, which play by URL

In the first case, our file names will be like 3ee56ab0933e.mp3. ID3 tag will be in place ( UPD it turns out that not all songs have the correct ID3Tag), but you must admit, it’s inconvenient to open each song to see what it is
In the second case, we have purely URLs in the playlists, but the title of the song is immediately available.

Since I didn’t want to watch files like 3ee56ab0933e.mp3, and also didn’t want to name it all manually, I sketched out a tool on my knee that can read pls playlists and download music into 10 connections.

A very brief excursion into the source code

I am writing primarily for those who want to change the code for themselves.
The program uses Virtual Treeview and Indy.
untPLSparser.pas - PLS file parser. There is only one function in the module interface:
function Parse(const text: string): TPLSItems; At the input - PLS playlist, returns an array of structures describing audio recordings (title + URL + often track duration)

This whole thing is converted into another TMusicList array described in untDownloadList.pas.
TMusicList consists of TMusicItem and is needed to store information about the download status, as well as any errors that have occurred.

Next, the download process begins. 10 pre-created TDLThread threads, the implementation of which is located in untDownloadThread.pas, begin to download songs.
The download is started via TfrmMain.RunFreeDownload in untMain.pas.
First, we get the index of the record that needs to be downloaded using the TfrmMain.GetFreeItem method. Then we check if we have the option to skip files, then we look to see if there is such a file, and if there is, we skip it.

During downloading to callbacks
DLProgress, DLError, DLComplete, DLTerminate events arrive where we actually update information in TMusicItem, start a new download or report an error.

Download threads work as follows.
After creation, the thread waits for the download task in a loop:

Since Indy is a blocking socket library, there must be a mechanism to stop loading. I use a special EStopTask exception in the TidHTTP.OnWorkBegin, TidHTTP.OnWork, TidHTTP.OnWorkEnd callbacks, which allows me to actually abort the download at any time.

If something goes wrong, but we can process it correctly and continue working, we process it and file the undownloaded file. If an exception occurs in a thread that we cannot handle (for example, AV), then according to the standard mechanism, the thread will be killed, and the FatalException will contain the exception object. Therefore, in untMain.pas I handle OnTerminate, check the thread exception object, and if it exists, then I throw the exception in the main thread.

You can download music from VK with your bare hands. How? Advanced users have probably already guessed it. And for those who do not understand, I will share two simple ways.

Each audio file has its own unique address on the Internet, from where the player downloads it during playback. We are not shown where the song is stored, but this information is in the page code. We'll take it from there. So…

Right-click on the desired audio track. Select “View element code”. Or select the track and press Ctrl+Shift+C.

Inside one of the tags there is a tag input type, where, among other things, there is a direct link to the composition. Let's copy it. The highlighting of elements in the playlist will help you understand that this is exactly the song you need: when you hover the cursor over The “Play” button will be highlighted.

Paste the link into the address bar of the browser and press “Enter”: a page with an audio player will open. Right-click on it and select “Save video as”. Alternatively, press Ctrl+S.

All you have to do is specify the folder to save - and the composition is “in your pocket”.

Searching for an audio file in the browser cache

When listening to music on the Internet, the browser downloads each song into one of its temporary folders (cache). This means that the necessary files are already on your hard drive, all you have to do is find them!

While playing a song on the VKontakte page, sort the files in the cache by date of modification. Now everything that was launched recently will be at the top.

Let's look at the file sizes. Musical ones weigh no less than 2.5 mb. An object weighing 8,257 kb is located at the top of my list. I have no doubt that this is the song that is playing right now. Select it with the mouse cursor and press F2 - a field for renaming will appear. Add the extension “mp3” to it.

After adding the extension, the file now has a music player icon (in my example, AIMP). Click on it to listen.
