Frigate cdn for Yandex. Access blocked resources in Google Chrome with the free friGate extension

The Frigate extension is an analogue of the once popular anonymizers. It allows you to open blocked sites, such as social networks, at work or school. The principle of blocking bypass is simple - the system administrator installs a firewall that screens out requests to certain websites. Frigate, sends a request not directly to the resource, but through a special gasket, allowing you to go to Vkontakte at work.

The extension is available for all popular browsers. In this article, I will describe in detail the nuances of installing and configuring the Frigate Chrome version.

Which version of Frigate should I choose?

On the official page of the plugin, two main versions of Frigate CDN and Frigate 3 are presented, another one, Frigate Light, was found in the Chrome extension store. Also, the site has a version for residents of Ukraine, containing pre-installed lists of portals blocked in the country (VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Yandex, etc.).

After installing all voiced versions of the extension in Chrome, we found out the following features:

  • Frigate Light and CDN have the same wide range of anonymity settings. The reason for the division into different versions remained unclear;
  • Frigate 3 is easier to set up, but there is no way to change the server for Internet access on the fly.

There are a lot of means of accessing sites through a proxy server. Before making a final decision about the installation, check out our review.

The third version is suitable for people "far" from the Internet and computer technology, because of the ease of installation and minimum settings. If you need the whole arsenal, Frigate Light is your choice, further review will be based on it.

Download and install Frigate in Google Chrome

Using the search in the Chrome store, you will find a dozen clones of the original plugin. Therefore, downloading should be done either from the official site, or via the direct link below.

1. Follow the link - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/frigate-light/ , to the extension page in the Chrome store. Click Install.

2. To verify that the installation is correct, open the "chrome://extensions/" page in the address bar and check if the extension icon appears in the upper right corner of the screen.

Do not rush to rejoice, before you start using it, you should make a number of simple settings.

Basic plugin settings

An important feature of the Frigate operation is proxy servers are activated only when opening sites included in the list. Access to resources outside the list goes without hiding the real ip address.

1. Right-click on the extension icon and go to Options.

2. Create your own list of sites. To do this, enter the name, in the format shown in the figure. Click Add List.

3. Go to the created directory and specify the addresses of the resources that will be accessed using the application.

Please note that before the "url" of the site, you must specify the symbols asterisk and dot.

4. Return to the settings page and disable pop-up ads (we are talking about ads from the creators of the service, not banners placed on site pages).

Are you sure you did everything right? I suggest you practice.

1. Check if the extension is enabled, at this moment, its icon should not have the inscription “Off”.

2. Open the service - 2ip.ru. Your ip address, provider and country should change.

3. Changing the above data is done by clicking on the flag of the country in the window located in the right corner of the monitor.

Congratulations, you have mastered the basic settings and management of the plugin and are ready to work independently.

Built-in server speed

You can not get around an important fact - most free anonymizers provide a low speed Internet connection. This factor can significantly affect the loading time of pages, I will keep silent about downloading files. Therefore, I conducted my own measurements of the connection speed.

The initial "Download" and "Ping" speeds look like this.

The test results are summarized in a table. Based on this data, you can choose the most comfortable server for work.

*Data may vary depending on the time of day.

What to do if Frigate is not working

The principle of the plugin is so simple that there is nothing to break. Below I will list the main breakdowns and the necessary actions to eliminate.

  • The site does not open, the timeout has expired. Check if your Internet is working, if so, change the access server in the extension;
  • The site is blocked by the provider. Check if the plugin is activated. Perhaps the creators of the application added this web resource to the stop list, in accordance with the requirements of Roskomnadzor;
  • Nothing works at all. This is an extremely rare case - try using Freegate later or reinstall it.

It is impossible to ignore the fact that access to sites blocked in the territory of the Russian Federation can be regarded as a violation of the current legislation.

The Frigate extension provides access to sites through a proxy server. Hides the true IP address of the computer and thus allows you to open web resources blocked by the provider that supplies the Internet, and directly by their administrators (they blacklist the addresses of visitors selectively).

The Frigate plugin has a number of advantages:

  • opens web pages without losing speed (just like in normal mode);
  • provides uninterrupted access to your favorite torrent trackers, video hosting and other online services;
  • removes geo-restrictions (blocking by location, place of residence);
  • reduces the risk of viruses infecting a PC (virus attacks over a network with a hidden IP address are much more difficult to carry out than with an open one).

The Frigate add-on works with a list of sites that can be supplemented and edited. The algorithm of its action is as follows:

  1. The user opens (requests) a website in a browser.
  2. Addon Frigate analyzes the request: is there a site in its list (base).
  3. If there is, it checks access: if it is not available (does not work due to blocking), it establishes an Internet connection through a proxy and tries to open it again. As a rule, after "masking" the IP, the blocked web resource opens.

In addition to selective connection by access, Frigate can always maintain a connection through a proxy connection. It transmits all data and requests over an encrypted channel (SPDY protocol).

In this article, you will learn how to install Frigate, which browsers it can be used in, and how to use it.

Firefox

1. To download the Frigate addon for Firefox, go to the official addon site - addons.mozilla.org.

2. In the "Search" field, type the name of the extension. Click the "arrow" located on the right side of the field.

Attention! The addon is provided free of charge.

4. To download Frigate, on the page that opens, click the "Add to Firefox" button.

5. Wait for the download to complete (progress is displayed in an additional panel at the top of the window).

6. Click "Install" to connect Frigate for Mozilla Firefox.

7. Click "Restart now" (FF will restart).

In the process of web surfing, in order to provide free access to network services, use the settings and options of the plugin. The panel with them opens by pressing the Frigate button in the browser window:

"Site from the list ..." - add-ons for the site in the database (on / off proxy, anonymity, turbo-compression), as well as removing it from the database.

"Current proxy" - change the server for redirection (available proxies are displayed in the additional panel).

"Incl. proxy for everyone…” - setting a permanent proxy connection for all sites opened in the browser.

"Turn off ..." - completely disable the addon.

Attention! When requesting an add-on on the add-ons site, carefully enter its name. The correct option is frigate. Incorrect options: freegate (error in the word), fri-gate (hyphenated name - fake addition, fake).

To enable the proxy addon for Google Chrome, do the following:

1. Open the browser menu (three dots).

2. Go to: Settings → Extensions.

3. Scroll down the list of connected addons with the mouse wheel.

5. In the search box, enter a name - frigate.

6. In the search results, select one of the two tools provided by the developer:

friGate Light (simplified version)

On the plugin page, click "Install". The browser will automatically download and connect it.

The status of the proxy is displayed on the friGate button (off - disabled, wait - waiting).

Solution for other browsers

Unfortunately, the developers have not created a version of Frigate for Opera, Internet Explorer or Frigate for Yandex.Browser. But if you want to surf in these web browsers through a proxy, you can use analogues - add-ons similar in function that hide the user's IP.

Safe Internet use! And may your favorite sites always be available to you!

Currently, various blocking of sites in Russia has become widespread, and, often, providers themselves block something “just in case”, without even waiting for the decision of Roskomnadzor on this matter.

This may apply to both news sites of a certain orientation, as well as video libraries, and libraries with free media files.

Frigate, a special extension for the Opera browser, helps to bypass this blocking.

Content:

Functional

What exactly does this extension do? It helps to bypass the blocking of sites, access to which is closed on the territory of the Russian Federation as a whole, or is limited specifically by your provider.

That is, if it is installed on your computer for the Opera browser, then you can, which you could not visit without it (since instead of them, a blocking notification from Roskomnadzor or from your provider would open).

To understand how it works, you need to know what a proxy server is. This is an intermediate server that can be registered on the territory of a particular country or not registered at all and which acts as an intermediary between the computer from which the request originates and the target (final) server of the site. From this it is clear that since the site is registered in the territory of a certain country, then after it is opened because the data about the country from which the request originates is lost.

What are the advantages of this particular extension?

First of all, it turns on the proxy only when switching to blocked resources, and not all the time, as most similar services and tools do.

This increases the speed and stability of the connection, since these indicators are slightly reduced when passing through a proxy.

In addition, it is precisely this, unlike analogues, transfers real user data to the site owner, not substituted ones. This application is not, like most services for bypassing blocking, but simply a tool for browsing sites. This is a very big plus for site administrators, as they get real traffic statistics, audience coverage, etc., even if .

Installation

This application is not presented on the Opera website, since, strictly speaking, it is not an official extension. Therefore, you can download it only from the developer's site.

To download and install, proceed according to the following algorithm:

2 Select among the buttons on the left side of the window the type of addon you need (note that you can download Frigate for other browsers, and that different countries need different versions of the application, as it depends on the list of blocked in the territory site countries);

3 Click the button and wait for the download to finish, if you need confirmation of permission to download - give it (it depends on your browser settings);

4 When the application is downloaded, your browser will most likely show a notification that the source of the application is unknown to the browser (since it is not official);

5 Thus, to connect it, you will need to go to the extension manager - you can do this directly from the notification window by simply clicking on the Go button in it;

6 After clicking on this button, you will be automatically redirected to a list box, and you will see that the downloaded extension is displayed in it

7 Select the desired extension by clicking on it, and then click on the Install button;

8 A small window will open again with a warning that the source of the application is unknown;

9 In this window, confirm the installation on your browser again;

10 Now the system will send you to the official website of the extension, on the main page of which it will be written that it has been successfully installed on your browser;

11 If you see such a notification, you can close all tabs and restart Opera.

Now you can visit sites blocked in your country by Roskomnadzor or your ISP. You can also check if the installation was successful by looking at the toolbar.

It will show an icon with the letter L in a rounded triangle, indicating that the browser app installed successfully.

Usage

How to interact with the user with this application?

It is not difficult, that is, no special actions are required from the user at all, since the extension works automatically.

On the application site there is a special list in which all sites blocked for one reason or another on the territory of Russia (or Ukraine - depending on which country you downloaded the application for) are entered manually or automatically. This list is constantly expanding and replenishing.

As soon as you go to any site from this list, the service automatically connects through which from now on your connection to the site will go.

Since now the site is no longer connected to your Russian IP, but to a proxy, access will be open.

At the same time, if the site is not blocked, then the proxy does not connect, you are connected to it in the usual way, and the extension on request issues a notification that the resource is “available without a proxy”.

However, if for some reason you need to visit the site without blocking through a proxy, then you can do it forcibly.

To do this, move the cursor over the icon, after which a pop-up window with a menu will appear.

Find the switch button and click on it, activating proxy communication (remember that this setting will only be valid for a specific site).

This application does not replace the anonymizer, as mentioned above, therefore it makes no sense to activate the connection through a proxy for this reason.

To achieve complete anonymity on the network, use other methods and applications.

Also (using the switch icon) you can disable proxy work with a specific site. You can disable such an application (and, consequently, work through a proxy) at all (for example, when a child goes online without adult control). To do this, simply find the add-on icon on the toolbar and click on it - now blocked sites will not open again ( L icon in a triangle will change to O and off will appear). To enable the add-on, click the icon again.

24.03.2017

Recently, more and more often we have to deal with the fact that the sites that were once loved and have even become part of everyday life are becoming inaccessible. Yesterday it was still possible to download interesting games, music, read articles and chat, but today the provider just shrugs. What to do? Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to deal with an annoying situation. And here we will consider the option of installing the FreeGate add-on for Yandex.Browser.

What is FriGate and what is it for?

At the moment, almost all known browsers support the ability to work with various add-ons. Many of them focus their work on providing bypass of ISP resource locks. In most cases, this is done through a proxy connection. The problem is that a significant number of add-ons cannot offer a truly effective approach to this task. In most cases, they allow absolutely any visits to sites through a proxy, which puts a significant load on the Internet connection. And in the case when mobile traffic is used, it becomes a disaster in general.

FriGate gained its popularity due to the fact that it uses a convenient algorithm that determines the fact that the site is blocked for this particular user and only at the moment of trying to get to it. And only then work with a proxy joins. This saves traffic as much as possible and reduces the load on the computer as a whole.

But there are alternative applications for gaining access. You can familiarize yourself with them individually, as well as see a separate example:

Installing FriGate for Yandex.Browser

There are several key ways to install FriGate for Yandex.Browser. We will cover all the main ones. Due to the fact that many modern popular browsers use almost the same code architecture, the procedure is similar for different programs. So the algorithm is useful not only in this case. Luckily, Freegate is completely free, so the app is available to absolutely everyone.

Method 1: Installing an existing extension

After installing Yandex.Browser, many users may find that FriGate is already on the list of add-ons. This may be due to the fact that the add-on has already been installed on other browsers. The program itself puts this extension in high priority, and demonstrates it among the first available. So if it happened, then you just need to activate it. For this you need:

Method 2: Installing from the official site

In case of any difficulties due to which it is impossible to activate the extension, or if it does not appear at all in the list available for Yandex.Browser, you can always get FreeGate from the official website of the developer.

Method 3: Install from the Google Chrome directory

As mentioned earlier, you can download the add-on directly from the Google Chrome add-ons catalog.

All in all, here are the main ways to install this really useful extension. After all, lately Roskomnadzor has been on the alert, and dozens of various sites fall under disgrace every day. So having this application in your pocket will never be superfluous.

The recent steps of the Ukrainian government aimed at blocking the popular social networks Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki, Mail.ru, Yandex and other resources have contributed to a surge of interest in software tools that allow. One of these tools is the Frigate browser extension, which uses proxy servers to bypass unwanted blocking for the user. In this article I will tell you what a frigate is, how to use friGate, and what are the features of its functionality.

friGate is an extension for Chrome, Firefox browsers, as well as Chromium-based navigators (Yandex Browser, Opera, Amigo, etc.), designed to gain access to blocked sites. In his work "Frigate" (this is how the English "frigate" is literally translated) uses foreign proxy servers (usually from the USA, France, Great Britain, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands), allowing to receive content from the site blocked by censors.

The principle of working with a proxy is template: you make a request to a proxy in order to access a blocked site, the proxy server contacts this site, downloads content from it, which then sends it to you. Nominally, some Spanish server contacted the blocked site, but in fact it was you from Russia or Ukraine.

  1. The friGate extension I am considering is downloaded and installed on your browser, after which the corresponding icon will appear in the toolbar (top right).
  2. After clicking on it with the left or right mouse button (depending on the browser), this extension can be activated / deactivated, change its settings, select your preferred proxy server country, and so on.

The “friGate” option provides for the possibility of using turbo compression (the transmitted data is packed, which allows saving traffic and data transfer speed). As well as the activation of the “anonymity” mode, which does not allow various software tools to track your activity on the network.

In addition, you can disable ads(due to which the developers of the extension live). To do this, in Mozilla, you need to go to Browser Settings - "Add-ons" - "Extensions", find "friGate" in the list of extensions and click on the "Settings" button on the right. In the settings that open, check the "Disable ads" checkbox.

In Chrome, this is done by going to the application settings (right-click on the "Frigate" icon - "Settings"), and checking the box next to "Do not show ads".

How to add a site to your friGate list

An important feature of "frigate" is the ability to activate this application not for all sites (as you know, working with a proxy somewhat slows down the work of Internet resources), but only for those selected by the user. Below I will describe how to use friGate in this context in a cross section of Firefox and Chrome.

Firefox browser

  1. Install Frigate by going to the Firefox Extension Store and clicking on Add to Firefox.
  2. After installing the extension, restart your browser, the "friGate" icon will appear in the browser panel on the top right.
  3. Now go to the problem site and wait until the browser gives you a message that this site is unavailable (the address of the blocked site must be in the address bar of the browser).
  4. Now click on the “friGate” icon with the left mouse button, in the menu that appears, check the box next to the “enable proxy for sites from the list” option.
  5. Then hover over the topmost panel (“site not from the list”), and in the panel that opens, select “add site to the list”.

Chrome browser

  1. Install the Chrome browser extension from the Chrome store.
  2. Once the extension is installed, hover your mouse over the 'frigate' icon, right-click and select 'options'.
  3. There is already a list of sites that can be bypassed using a proxy, but you can add your own list by entering a name for it and clicking on the "Add List" button.

Click on "Add to list" to create your own list of sites

After you add your list, click on it and enter the address of the blocked domain into it (for example, *.vk.com - an asterisk and a dot before the name allows you to add a domain with subdomains), and click on the "Add site" button. You can also enable the "proxy always enabled" option for a given site, or use an analytical algorithm that allows the extension to choose when to activate the proxy for the specified resource.

Setting up a list of Frigate sites

Unfortunately, at the moment the "friGate" extension for the Firefox browser does not support customizing the list of sites. This setting is available for browsers based on the Chromium core (for example, the same Google Chrome).

  1. To customize the list, hover over the "Frigate" icon in the browser, and click the right mouse button.
  2. In the menu that appears, select "Options", and in the window that opens, you will see a list of more than 200 blocked sites called "friGate".
  3. By clicking on it, you can view this list, as well as deactivate the blocking of any of these sites by clicking on the corresponding button on the right.
  4. You can also create your own list and add the resources you need to it. The specifics of creating and editing such a list were described by me in the previous section.

Conclusion

In this article, I described how to start using the friGate extension, and how to set up a list of sites in this plugin. The tool I have considered will be useful to those users who wish to restore full access to resources blocked in their country (Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, Yandex, various torrent trackers and other resources). Download and install Frigate, find the country whose proxies work the fastest and most stably - and you can forget about censorship in your country.
