Main menu of the program

The main menu of the Notes program, like most programs in the Windows Mobile environment, is located at the bottom of the window and includes the following items: New, Edit and Tools.

The New menu allows you to create a new document. If another document is open, it will be saved under a name that is the first word of the note.

The Edit menu contains commands responsible for editing the contents of an open document:

  • working with the clipboard (Copy, Cut, Paste);
  • deleting the selected fragment (Clear);
  • selecting the entire contents of the document (Select All);
  • canceling an action (Undo or Undo Zoom);
  • repeat the action (Redo or Redo Zoom).

This menu item is only available when the document is open.

The Tools menu contains various commands depending on the operating mode. In the mode of viewing the list of notes, this item contains only a command to open the program settings window - Options. In note editing mode, this menu contains the following commands:

  • Recognize. Selecting this command starts recognition of the selected handwritten text or the entire handwritten text in the absence of a selected fragment. The recognition results are inserted into the source text, and the program independently selects the version closest to the original;
  • Alternates. This item becomes active when you select recognized text and serves to display a list containing a list of possible recognition alternatives. In this list, the user can select the text spelling option he needs if the program incorrectly recognized handwritten text;
  • Send via E-mail. When you select this command, an email program window will automatically open and an email will be created with a note file attached to it. The user is only required to enter the recipient's address;
  • Beam Note (Transmit via wireless connection). When you select this command, a window will open to select the connection through which you want to transfer the file containing the note;
  • Zoom. Selecting this menu item will cause a pop-up menu to appear in which you can select the display scale of the document content;
  • Rename / Move. This command calls up a dialog box for setting the parameters of the file containing the note: its name, directory, location (built-in memory or external memory). In addition, the window contains information about the file - modification date, size, format;
  • Delete Note. When you call this command, an information window will be displayed asking you to confirm the deletion, after which the current note will be deleted.

In addition, in the work field you can call up a context menu containing frequently used main menu commands.

Toolbar

As with many programs, the toolbar is located at the bottom of the window next to the main menu. In note editing mode, it contains buttons for selecting input modes:

  • enable handwriting mode. In this case, the working field is divided into lines by horizontal lines. Input is made using a stylus. Words can be entered either character by character or in one stroke. When you press this button again, the program returns to its original state;
  • switching the program to voice note input mode. When you press this button again, the program returns to its original state.

When viewing a list of notes, only the button for creating voice notes is available on the toolbar.

In addition to text notes, the Notes program allows you to create voice notes by recording them using a microphone (external or built into a pocket computer). The voice note recording mode is activated by a button on the toolbar. After clicking it, an additional panel of the built-in recorder will be displayed at the bottom of the window for recording and listening to voice notes.

This panel contains a standard set of player controls:

  • enable recording;
  • ending recording or playback;
  • turning on and pausing listening to the selected file;
  • rewind to the end of the file;
  • rewind to the beginning of the file;
  • volume control;
  • rewind the sound file during playback, indicator - during recording.

Setting up Notes

To call the program settings dialog box, in the note list view mode, select the menu command Tools\Options, as a result of which the Options window will be displayed on the screen of the pocket computer.

In this window you can make the following settings:

  • Default Mode. This drop-down list allows you to select the input type (Writing - handwritten input, Keyboard - using the keyboard);
  • Default template. This drop-down list allows you to select a template for the notes you create (Blank Note, Meeting Note, Memo, Phone Memo);
  • Save to. This drop-down list allows you to specify the type of memory in which notes will be saved (Main Memory - main memory, Storage - external media).

Once the parameters have been set, you must click OK to save them.
