Complete list of Assassin Creed games. The best Assassin's Creed games: ranked from worst to best

Assassin Creed Empire 2017 is a series of popular action adventure games. The release of the first part of the franchise took place in 2007, since then the project is rightfully considered a cult in its genre. Given the steadily growing popularity, Ubisoft corporation pleased fans with new products in this series every fall. In 2015, Assassin’s Creed: Sindicat appeared on the market, this part disrupted the usual update release schedule. To the credit of the developers, the break in updating the series was announced in advance, and in the fall of this year, instead of continuing the legendary franchise, a sequel, Watch Dogs 2, appeared.

It is worth noting that work on the creation of Assassin’s Creed: Empire 2017 is actively underway, so the release date of the new product is expected in the fall-winter of 2017. It is possible that such long breaks will become the norm, so fans will enjoy new products every 2 years.

What changes should we expect in Assassin Creed: Empire 2017? The plot of the game series will probably remain unchanged: the action will unfold against the backdrop of the eternal confrontation between the Templars and the Order of Assassins. The main character has already visited London and the West Indies, now the events will take place in the sands of Ancient Egypt.

A change in geolocation will invariably entail changes in the characters’ combat system. For example, the hero will be able to use a tame eagle, whose role in the game will be irreplaceable. In addition, a new quality of graphics is expected, which will make the display of sands, oases and even mirages more rich and complete.

It is assumed that Assassin's Creed: Empire 2017 could serve as the beginning of a series where the main character Desmond Miles will travel through ancient eras, completing tasks in Greece or the Roman Empire. Of course, this is not reliable information, but the logical continuation of the game may well be like this.

When will Assassin's Creed: Empire 2017 be released on PC, PlayStation, Xbox

Many people write that AC is not a “cake”, that it is a conveyor belt, they come up with some cartoons and videos, but at the same time they are fans of Dota, COD, “battles”/battlefield - forgetting that these games also do not bring anything new (COD, " battle") in them, from part to part, the graphics are increased, the physics are tightened up, the textures are improved - and that’s all...
I'm not saying that everything is perfect with the AU, no. AC3 was boring, its replayability is very low, because instead of solving problems with the Templars, the hero is forced to run around giving birth, help hunt, marry his friends in the community, and these are terrible citizens. Although “tyranny” was interesting, although it did not fit into the AC concept, it fit perfectly into the totemic beliefs of the Native American population.
AC2,ACR,ACB is a balanced story that shows the development of Ezio as a master of assassins from a goofball jumping between the bunks of girls and brawls on the streets, and it was cool screenwriting work, cool gameplay that was completely redone, a rethinking of the first part.
ACBF (AC4) - for me personally, this is a cool part, on average I replay it once a year, I like this adventure, I like the pirate assassin, I like his commercialism, that he is driven by the thirst for profit, and not by ideals, I like that the authors did not try to foist another idealist who has problems with relatives (reference to AC3, revenge from AC2), but show a hero who wants money, and is ready to rob, kill, deceive and enter into conspiracies - this is all to my liking. As the game progresses, we see that the hero is changing, his ideals are undergoing a change - and this is good, this is what should be in a good story.
ACunity is a failure of the series, from the point of view of history - again revenge for parents, for adoptive parents, then another story of Shakespearean love “Romeo and Juliet”. That there are no other reasons to kill? Just revenge? Only love for crazy women? Why not show the internal conflict of Mr., his duty as an assassin and his desire as a person, the pressure of duty over a tossing soul? From the point of view of game developers, the game was so bugged that not every powerful computer could cope with it, but in my memory, not only the skirts were punctured like this, let’s remember Rockstar (a moment of sarcasm - Batman is no longer the same, coveeeeeer, bug on bug, etc. - Batman also, from the hospital to the knight, used old mechanics, increased graphics and textures - but it’s still the same Batman of the first part, it’s just that the screaming crowds don’t have the courage to admit it, because it’s easier to vilify the obvious, which was pointed out, than compare and draw your own conclusions).
ACSynadicate - working on bugs with unity, the game remained attractive from a graphics point of view, the story this time was not reduced to revenge, but to the confrontation between the ruling party in the person of the Templars and the opposition - the assassins - this is good. two years each with their own motives and goals - a great idea that opens up each of them separately, although the gameplay was not very different for each of them. The antagonist is really the best in the series, everything that motivates him, everything he does is aimed at strengthening his power, cruel, price-conscious, immoral - a handsome villain!
ACRogue is a stump between AC3 and ACBF; it does not strive and does not want to introduce anything new, using well-known mechanics and gameplay, but the story is presented from the side of a defector, whose views run counter to the order in which he was. In the line of all games, we were shown that the Templars were bad - they offended the people, oppressed the laws, etc., and the assassins and their struggle were a counterweight. They immediately show us that the assassins are also mistaken, that they also make wrong decisions that cost lives, that the assassins are also not devoid of the desire to seize power, to impose their point of view, and for this they are also ready to commit crimes. In this regard, the game becomes even more complete than all the previous parts, although it is inferior to them, but on the whole it separates the series and the overall story more than the confrontation between Ezio and Borgia, than the twins with the Old Man, than Conor with his father, than Arno and who he opposed there .

Why do I like the AC series? Because I admit their mistakes, admit their shortcomings, look soberly at what has been achieved and I like this adventure!

Assassin's Creed Origins / Origins

The action will take place in Hellenistic Egypt during the reign of Cleopatra. The main character will be Bayek, a Medjay who protects his people from threats.
The open world allows players to roam freely throughout Egypt. The game is played from a third-person perspective and can be explored on foot, on horseback or by boat.

She abandoned the usual annual release of projects, postponing the game's release to next year. Release date Assassins Creed Empire - 2017, exact information at at the moment No. Presumably the historical action game will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. What is causing the delay? The studio explains this by the desire to make a worthwhile product, taking into account all the mistakes of the previous parts.

Location

Ancient Egypt will be a new location in the action game. First of all, this territory is almost untouched by the gaming industry, and therefore is attractive to developers. Creators will be able to go all out, diluting ordinary graphics with interesting solutions.

The company promises that the project will be worthwhile - blue skies, endless sands, pyramids and mirages that have become a full-fledged satellite in the deserts. And bright colors and good graphics will complete the image.

Plot

Not as much is known about the storyline as we would like. As the creators said, all the main actions of the action will unfold in that time period when the Templars and Assassins just began to appear. Many fans of the franchise believe that the project will reveal exactly the beginning of the war between these orders. The player who witnesses the beginning of the bloodthirsty battle will be able to join or watch the battle from the side. At the moment, the exact storyline cannot be identified. Another fact is that the hero will have a tame eagle. An unusual companion in the game, he will probably be a kind of assistant and combat unit for the character.

Gameplay

Assassins Creed 2017 will be full reboot for the entire Assassins Creed series. The gameplay will undergo many changes, new elements will appear. Users awaiting the release are promised:

Free combat system;
- character leveling;
- atypical means of transportation, for example, a horse;
- unique phenomena like mirages.

Also, the main location will be the desert, therefore, you can only climb in small settlements if they are found among the sand and scorching sun.

Expectations

Assassins Creed Empire news is not encouraging with its frequency, the studio remains silent and works on the project, and users make assumptions and guesses. A small list of expectations, compiled based on feedback from fans of the series:

  1. Expect an interesting plot twist. Fortunately, there is an opportunity to unfold in Ancient Egypt, so many gamers hope to see an interesting story.
  2. Good graphics. Ubisoft did not let the audience down by releasing quality products. But every year I want to see new technologies to improve the picture.
  3. Historical characters. Even if it's not in the action famous personalities from Ancient Egypt, then they hope at least for the canonical local residents.
  4. Atmospheric. It's no secret that the franchise is original and interesting, so this part must keep the bar, delighting fans of assassins creed with the created atmosphere.
  5. Bug fixes. Gamers are always waiting for the elimination of bugs and lags in the gameplay. The story of Ancient Egypt was no exception.

Conclusion

Next year, fans will be able to see the action that the developers worked so hard on. If you believe the information on the Internet, the project will turn out colorful and unique. WITH open world, a complex combat system and unique hero abilities. We can check it later official release in 2017.

In 2007, when the first part of the Assassin's Creed game series was released, few could have predicted that today the franchise would have such enormous significance. One way or another, all nine major releases, numerous spin-offs and over 100 million copies sold "Assassin" s Creed had a significant impact on the video game industry.

All these years, the quality of releases and the plot in them has been different level. The developers were not always able to fully capture all the advantages of a world in which exciting stories of revenge and great treasure hunts developed.

There is hope that Assassin's Creed: Origins will breathe new life to a game series that is in dire need of fresh ideas. How exciting will the story about Ancient Egypt be and will the game fall apart faster than online servers Unity, time will tell.

This list is based on the stories, not the overall quality of the games. Also not included in the list portable versions or downloadable add-ons. Here are only the main releases. In addition, the focus will be on stories told through the Animus, rather than present-day events that don't deserve to be rated anything more than "just good."

Be careful, there may be spoilers in the texts.

9. Assassin's Creed

First Assassin's Creed laid the foundation for an incredibly successful franchise that included a unique gameplay and an amazing setting.

But he's also incredibly boring.

The plot of AS consists only of fulfilling the instructions of Al-Mualim: “go there, kill him, get a new task.” The world in which the game takes place is much more interesting, but the plot could not highlight it one bit.

Sometimes Al Mualim was even considered just an annoying nuisance. It was more interesting for the players to kill the one who gives out the tasks, and not the main negative character.
If you say that you need more intricate plots and real historical characters in your next games, then Ubisoft, according to at least, put effort into this. The fact that the first game only has a thin plot means that the first game is definitely the worst.

Altaïr's character could have had more interesting development, but his flat and monotone voice made him less of a stoic mercenary and more of a snotty teenager desperately trying to be stylish and cool.

Changing the perception of the end of the world was a smart move. This fact gave the hero's character more emotionality and depth in the few scenes where Altair appears.

8. Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Ezio Auditore da Firenze, the extraordinary, badass and legendary assassin, spent the last game of his trilogy searching for some books.

Ezio tried to open Altair's library in order to find out the real purpose of the assassins. This sounds like it would be a nice side quest, reminiscent of the Romulus missions in Brotherhood.

Unfortunately, this was the whole game.

From a storytelling perspective, this makes some sense. After all, Ezio's life is approaching sunset. At the end of the game he won't need the hood. However, a game cannot be considered exciting when you have to deal with in recent years main character.

The characters of Ezio and Altair are wonderfully written. While Altair becomes a wise leader and family man, Ezio remains as great as he always was. On the other hand, the work on the secondary characters was done a little less well.

Yusuf was a funny, if not superficial, character. Sofia was interesting in the beginning, but became more and more annoying as time went on. Meanwhile, Prince Ahmet was one of the most boring and forgettable villains of all time. His "big reveal" as the ultimate villain was met with a resonant question from players: "wait, who are you?"

Although in general Revelations has a more explicit plot than the first part of the franchise, it must be admitted that the game is only a set of scenes surrounded by a bunch of search tasks. Starting with this game, as many believe, everyone new release The series got worse and worse.

7. Assassin's Creed: Unity

The French Revolution is considered one of the bloodiest and most violent periods in European history. It's no surprise that Ubisoft used this era as the backdrop for a love story.

On the other side, Unity is a typical example of a game not living up to its potential. Before its release, many assumed that the main character, Arno Dorian, would play a leading role in revolutionary events. What the players didn't expect was new version Romeo and Juliet, where the orders of the Templars and Assassins took the place of the Montague and Capulet families.

The characters, both Arno and his Templar compatriot Elisa, are well written. They have some pretty decent chemistry, even if it wasn't actually shown enough. All the chemistry in the world wouldn't be enough to not disappoint the players.

Assassin's Creed games are at their best when the setting plays a significant role in the plot. Otherwise, what is the point of having the games take place in a specific historical time? The story of Arno and Elise could have happened in other periods , which would also look organic. This is the whole problem.

If the French Revolution could not emphasize the vitality of the plot, then why use it? Place the star-crossed lovers in another historical time, and give this period more worthwhile heroes.

6. Assassin's Creed III

Every fan of the franchise remembers how they felt when they watched the trailer. Assassin's Creed III for the first time. The hero, an American Indian, makes his way through cannon fire and fights with British soldiers who are burning an important artifact.

The idea of using the American Revolutionary War as a historical period in which the game could be set was one of the most exciting in the series. Many players were looking forward to the opportunity to participate in the historical events that helped America find its contours. And in many ways, AC3 has succeeded. Players witnessed the Boston Tea Party, the reading of the Declaration of Independence, and Revere's Race.

Unfortunately, the characters turned out to be deeply unlikable.

Connor Kenway, our supposed hero, is an absolute bore and a pushover. His mentor, Achilles, is tiresome and annoying. Historical figures like George Washington and Paul Revere are extremely boring. Moreover, the latter participated in one of the worst missions in the history of Assassin's Creed.

Only one of the game's main villains, Connor's father Haytham, is remotely likable, but even he is hampered by the fact that players had to go through a lengthy tutorial to control him, which is devastating good impression about him.

More interesting events place the game slightly higher in the rankings than Unity, but the characters prevent it from being placed too high.

5. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate V present moment is the last game in the series to be released. After the disappointing Unity, many were unwilling to give Syndicate any chance. Which should be a shame, because this is a definite step forward.

Unlike AC3, most of the characters in Syndicate are quite likable, especially the main characters Jacob and Evie Frye. It may not be on the level of Ezio and Edward Kenway, but the duo is well written. There are fascinating sibling dynamics here. The main villain, Crawford Starrick, is amazing in every scene, making him one of the best villains in the AC gallery.

On the other hand, the plot here is average.

Jacob makes his way through London through murder and creates his own gang, while Evie searches for the artifact. These storylines are written very well, but they are only basic foundation. For a series of games that suffers from a lack of ideas, nothing particularly new or intriguing was offered.

Over the past 10 years, Assassin's Creed has experienced both ups and downs. Syndicate represents the exact middle of this road.

4. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

The second part of Ezio's revenge story may not have been as exciting as the first, but Brotherhood features one of the best stories in the series.

Having received only the first skills of an assassin, Ezio at the beginning of his journey successfully coped with challenging task. He managed to prevent Rodrigo Borgia from controlling several parts of Eden, which soon led to the spectacular destruction of Ezio's village and the murder of his uncle Mario.

Ezio's own mistake in not killing Rodrigo destroyed him old life. He felt despair as he tried to start over. There is an interesting parallel in the story between Ezio's internal struggle and the collapse of Rome. Gradually, he tries to save the once great city from the despotic power of the Templar Order.

The game's supporting characters also leave a good impression, from the stubborn Claudia to the mystical Machiavelli, as well as the always magnificent Leonardo da Vinci. The final battle and rapier fight with the charming, power-hungry villain Cesare Borgia is much better than the fights with his father.

The big minus of the game is that the plot of Brotherhood is somewhat similar to the stories of other games. Ezio, as in his other adventures, again takes revenge on those who killed his family. In addition, after Assassin's Creed II it is very difficult not to be disappointed.

3. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Perhaps this is what it's all about marketing strategy Black Flag . Gone are the days of righteous protagonists (as righteous as you can be if you're an assassin), replaced by Edward Kenway, the best member of the Kenway family.

Players will experience an incredible journey of Edward, full of twists and turns, shocking betrayals, from a scoundrel to a true hero. Black Flag manages to constantly surprise players with its story and its main character. Within Kenway, his pirate nature and his acquired qualities as an assassin contend, making him one of the most complex heroes in the entire franchise.

This story shines brightest through its characters. While the bad guys may not be very interesting here, the likable supporting characters like Blackbeard, Mary Reed, and Adewale contribute greatly to Black Flag's story.

Plus, the game has the best ending in the entire series. The music of The Parting Glass in honor of fallen heroes and the video of Edward and his daughter Jennifer sailing into the sunset are very moving. There's also a final Easter egg where the theater itself shows how Haytham Kenway will later overthrow the Assassin Brotherhood.

Who would have thought that one of the greatest pirate games would be in the Assassin's Creed series?

2. Assassin's Creed II

This part of the franchise is considered by many to be the best in this series of games. Ezio Auditore's revenge story is the only story worthy of appearing on HBO as a TV show.

The decision to start the game when Ezio was still a baby may seem strange, but his transformation before the eyes of the players from a child and an embittered teenager into a wise assassin made Ezio one of the greatest heroes of the entire series. It's not often that a game allows you to completely immerse yourself in the life of its protagonist.

The investigation of the conspiracy takes Ezio on a journey that becomes more intriguing and fascinating with each new mission. In the finale it turns out that the main villain has become the Pope. To defeat him, you must infiltrate the Vatican, which sends chills down players' spines.

The compelling lead Ezio is surrounded by other equally compelling characters. Each Assassin goal has a unique motivation that affects each hero separately. Each of Ezio's allies, in particular Leonardo da Vinci, can be considered a fantastic character, despite the fact that it seems a little silly that everyone who helps him turns out to be an assassin throughout the story.

For many years it was believed that nothing could surpass the second part of Assassin's Creed. That was the case until...

1. Assassin's Creed: Rogue

With this release, the franchise went in a completely new direction.

After years of black-and-white "Assassins=Good, Templars=Bad" scenarios, Rogue turned this whole idea on its head, showing that, in fact, everything is not so simple. There is no more battle between good and evil. Now there is a clash of two distinct ideologies.

What is better, to have freedom or security?

By creating something completely new, Rogue managed to become the best game in a franchise that was in dire need of fresh ideas. The main enemy suddenly appeared to have human qualities. Now we can’t say that “we are all evil just because.”

The explanation of the reasons for Shay's inclusion in the Assassin brotherhood became the best feature of the entire series of games. With this came the realization that the friends and allies he had at the beginning of the game had now become Shay's sworn enemies and future targets for the Assassins.

Fan-favorite characters like Haytham and Adewale are back in the game, the former as a true mentor, the latter as a reluctant enemy. Despite fighting against assassins who were goodies in other games in the franchise, Shay is still viewed favorably. It's actually a shame that the series didn't do more stories with the Templars at the center of the plot.

Despite the fact that the game went unnoticed due to strange decision Ubisoft released it at the same time as Unity, Rogue deserves a rethink as greatest story in the Assassin's Creed game series.
