Is it possible to install windows 7 on a netbook. Reinstalling windows on a netbook

class = "eliadunit">

Greetings to netbook owners! Netbooks, as many argue, will soon become a thing of the past. They will be replaced by touch devices like tablets. But I do not share this opinion. At the moment, tablets cannot be compared to netbooks in some parameters. After all, a netbook is the same computer, but a miniature one. For advanced users, this little mobile friend is indispensable!

As it happens on a stationary computer after prolonged use, Windows is buggy or even out of order, and this happens quite often on netbooks. What to do when you need to install or reinstall the Windows operating system on a netbook?

We will describe everything in order. The first difficulty is the lack of a CD or DVD drive. After all, we are used to reinstalling Windows from disk. This option will not work here. The most practical way to install or reinstall from flash drive!

And it doesn't matter which version you prefer and Windows 7 (Seven), Windows XP, or the new Windows 8, or even an operating system not from the Windows series. The described principle is also suitable for stationary computers and laptops. The manufacturer also doesn't matter whether it's Asus, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, MSI, Toshiba, Acer or not listed on our list.

The reinstallation will be divided into three voluminous stages: find the image, install it on the netbook. Where can I find the image? Make it from disk, download it from the Internet (for example, from torrents, like a movie). When searching for an image, we take into account the volume of our flash drive. There is a flash drive of 8 GB or more, then everything will be fine. But if 4 GB or less, then we pay attention to the size of the Windows image, the image may simply not fit on the USB flash drive.

The next stage is the most important - recording the image to a working one. flash drive ... We will not get off by simply dropping the image, autoload will not turn on, etc. Therefore, you need to use some kind of program. For example, a popular program for this is UltraISO. Use the Internet to search for this program. The program is paid, but it allows you to burn a disk image to a USB flash drive for free. We install the program, at the end of the registration it pops up, select “ Trial period».

We open the image using the program UltraISO.

In the "Write Disk Image" window that opens formatting USB flash drive.

Now is the time to write the disk image to our USB flash drive.

The next step is to install Windows on a netbook. This stage will not be explained in the pictures, because each netbook has its own characteristics. But the principle is the same as when reinstalling on a stationary computer. We choose to boot from a USB flash drive, reboot, install, boot, enjoy the result! I think the article was helpful!

Long and fast Windows work for all!

Many netbook users run into the problem of wondering how to install or reinstall an OS, for the simple reason that netbooks do not have an internal CD / DVD drive. Meanwhile, such a problem does not exist, since it is possible to install (or reinstall) it from any USB device, including a flash drive. The method of installing Windows 7 on a netbook using a flash drive described below applies not only to netbooks, it can also be applied to installing the "seven" on other PCs - laptops and desktops. You can also use this method for other external USB devices, such as an external USB drive. If an OS has already been installed on the netbook, and you need to reinstall it, then first you should save all important files (documents) from the system disk (partition) on which you intend to install Windows 7.

Installation steps

Installing the specified OS from a USB device is a fairly simple process, consisting of the following steps:

  1. Installing an application for preparing a bootable USB-drive;
  2. Preparing bootable media;
  3. Directly installing the OS from the prepared media.

Installing the Application to Prepare Bootable USB Media

You can prepare such media in several different ways. According to the author of the article, the simplest and most transparent is to use the Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool. The main purpose of this program is to write an OS image to a USB device and. It can be downloaded for free from the Internet, for example, from the Microsoft store. Installing this application is very simple, the process does not cause any problems and requires only a few clicks.

Preparing a bootable USB media

It should be noted right away that the application installed at the previous stage is a highly specialized program and works only with images in the .iso format containing only the "seven" distribution kit. If the user does not have a Windows 7 distribution kit in this format, then he will have to download it from the Microsoft website, or from numerous torrent trackers, so the system image required to reinstall the operating system will be quite easy to find. It should also be noted that the volume of the USB device must not be less than 4 GB, and all data stored on it is deleted. If they are needed, then before launching this application, they should be saved somewhere.

Preparing a bootable USB drive in the form of a flash drive is performed in 4 steps:

Step 1 - setting the media and folder with the iso-image of the OS, on which you need to reinstall the current system. This is done using the "Browse" button. After selecting the desired file, click "Next" and go to step 2.

Step 2 is setting the media type. Here you need to indicate that this is a USB device:

Step 3 is choosing a specific USB device. Here you need to specify the USB flash drive to which the Windows image should be written (it must be inserted), and click on the "Begin copying" button:

Step 4 - writing an OS image to a USB device in bootable format:

At the end of this process, a window will appear indicating the completion of the operation:

At this stage, the preparation of a bootable USB flash drive with the distribution of Windows 7 is completed. You can proceed to the direct installation of the OS.

Installing Windows 7 from a prepared flash drive

You can reinstall the OS using the following steps:

  1. Make sure that the netbook is turned off, and the flash drive prepared in the previous step is inserted into the USB port. We turn on the netbook and go to its BIOS. Depending on the netbook model, this may require pressing the F12 or Delete button. If they did not help, then you should refer to the documentation - User's Guide;
  2. In the BIOS, select the "Boot" tab and change the order of the boot devices so that the bootable USB device is the first. This is usually done with the F5 and F6 buttons (in some models - F7 and F8);
  3. We save the settings made and exit the BIOS using the "Save and Exit Setup" option.

Then the netbook will reboot, and the procedure for installing Windows 7 on the hard drive of the netbook from the USB flash drive starts. Depending on the performance of the processor and hard disk, the time during which the system will be reinstalled can range from a few minutes to an hour.

Netbooks are becoming more and more popular among the local population of our vast homeland. A small computer, as practice has shown, is the best birthday present for a beloved woman. Even more practice pointed to the popular Acer Aspire One 532h netbook in a beautiful silver or red color scheme, so beloved by our ladies. But what can a netbook be without the beautiful Windows 7 operating system installed on it in the normal configuration? Of course not.

In this article I will tell you about the full cycle of installing Windows 7 on Acer Aspire One 532h netbooks, taking into account all the small and unpleasant features of this process.

  1. Create a bootable Windows 7 image for netbooks without a DVD drive
  2. Windows 7 installation process
  3. System setup - drivers and loud math

Perhaps the plan will be just that. First of all, you will need the actual netbook Acer Aspire One 523h, of which there are now two things in front of me, both are pretty, silvery twin brothers, although by their nature they seem to be sisters. You will also need a flash drive with a volume of 4 GB or more. In addition, stock up on the Internet and two hours of patience (with tea, beer and buns).

How to install Windows 7 from a USB flash drive

Creating a bootable Windows 7 image for netbooks without a DVD drive turned out to be not as scary as it might seem at first glance. To install, we need to download two elements:

  1. Windows 7 installation image.
You can use your favorite distribution, or download this image: (you need to download or). This image will be incredibly useful in the future for installing any of the official distributions of Windows 7.
  2. Windows 7 USB / DVD Tool.
This free utility from Microsoft allows you to easily and quickly create a bootable USB flash drive with a Windows 7 installation image if you have an image. You can download: or.

After you have downloaded both programs, we can start creating an image.

  1. Format your USB stick. This is optional, but I think it will come in handy.
  2. Install the Windows 7 USB / DVD Tool - installation should not cause you any difficulties, even a child can click "Next" several times.
  3. Launch "Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool" from the desktop. In the window that opens, click Browse, select the downloaded Windows 7 installation disk image file, and click Next.
  4. In the next window, select USB Device. At the same time, your USB flash drive should already be inserted into the computer.
  5. Select your USB flash drive from the list that appears. You may need to click on the refresh button next to the list. After selecting the flash drive, click on "Begin copying".
  6. Wait until the end of the process, close the program and remove the USB flash drive - the installer is ready.

Using the resulting flash installer, you can install Windows 7 on any computer that supports autorun from flash drives.

The process of installing Windows 7 on a netbook

Installing Windows 7 will be easy, even for a beginner. You will need the installation stick from point 1 and your precious netbook. Break the first with your hands, break the second on your head... Plug the netbook into a power outlet, open the lid, admire this miracle of technology, close the lid, admire a little more, and get to work.

  1. Insert the USB stick into the netbook. Yes, yes, this is best done with a disabled netbook, so that when it starts it is already detected by the BIOS.
  2. Turn on the netbook. At startup, be prepared to press F2 almost immediately to launch the BIOS setup utility. As soon as the inscription "Press F2 to enter setup" or similar appears on the bottom left, press F2 and get the BIOS setup utility to start.
  3. In the program that opens, go to the Boot tab, select USB ****** (the name of your flash drive should be indicated here) and use the F5 or F6 keys to move this item to the first place. Go to the last BIOS tab and select the "Save an exit setup" item.
  4. The computer will restart. This should start Windows Setup immediately. If it doesn't, turn on your brain and go back to step 1.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions during installation. When choosing a section, I can give the following recommendation - delete all existing sections and create a breakdown yourself. The most convenient option would be to create two disks, 35 and 110GB, respectively. To delete and create disks, on the selection page, click on "Configure disk", delete partitions, create two partitions in sequence (when creating the first, specify the size 35000, when creating the second, agree with the proposed size), select the first created partition (most likely, it will be second in the list after the section with the signature "Reserved by the system"), click "Format", and "Next".
  6. Windows will be installed automatically. Monitor the status of your computer until the first reboot. As soon as the first reboot starts, in the manner described in points 2 and 3, return the state of the Boot tab to its original state (that is, move USB *** from the first place to the end of the list), save the settings and continue the installation in automatic mode.
  7. The installation of Windows 7 will end with several questions from the system. Enter your username, computer name, pick a password, configure updates and enter your license key (it is located on the license sticker under the laptop).

At this, the first stage of the system installation is completed, Windows will turn on, configure itself and provide you with full carte blanche - proceed further. The flash drive can already be pulled out and put aside.

Windows setup - drivers and loud mats

After installing the OS, you are guaranteed to notice that something is missing. This is something - a couple of drivers, or rather, a driver for video, wireless and touchpad.

First of all, you need the following driver packages:

  1. Intel VGA Driver - or
  2. Atheros Wi-Fi Driver - or
  3. Synaptics TouchPad - or

After downloading, unpack these drivers and install them according to the instructions, without any surprise. After installation, you can safely clue in - the wireless driver was not installed. To install it, follow these steps.

  1. Open "Device Manager", for example, through "Start", right click on "Computer", there "Control", and select "Device Manager".
  2. We find in the dispatcher a yellow icon with the signature “Network controller”, double click, the “Driver” tab, press “Update”, continue the mockery.
  3. When the driver installation wizard appears, select "Install manually", "Select a driver from the list of suppliers", "Show all devices", and finally the item "Install from disk".
  4. In the window that opens, click on "Browse" and set the path to the ndis6xWin7 folder located in WLAN_Atheros_8.0.0.259_Win7x86 where we unpacked it.
  5. After choosing the installation location, a list of drivers will appear in front of us, on the left we select Atheros, on the right, slowly scrolling through we find the driver for the AR5B95 microcircuit (there is only one with this word, you won't be mistaken). Beforehand, I recommend that you check the model of your wireless chip, it is written on one of the labels on the bottom of the netbook.
  6. We agree with the risks, install the driver, enjoy the wireless network.
  1. First of all, right click on "Computer" in the Start menu, there is "Properties", from there "System Protection" on the left, and disable system protection altogether. If, of course, you are confident in yourself.
  2. Open the "Control Panel" from the start, there is "System and Security" and the item "Check for Updates" in the "Windows Update" section, install all the latest updates - this is useful for the system.
  3. Another right click on "Computer" from Start, "Management" and "Services" - there find the NET Framework service (or similar to it) and disable it. How to do this, figure it out yourself.
  4. Install an antivirus. You can use free AVG: - or put your favorite, for example, GCD or Casper.
  5. Think about a firewall, you can use the free Comodo Personal Firewall.
  6. Think about the eternal - antivirus and firewall are always dull and take a long time to install ...

The netbook is now ready to use. Oh yes, I completely forgot to say, now you can forget about the warranty - you just lost it, but this is a trifle compared to the fact that now your netbook started working 5 times faster than when you bought it!

Summary

If you did not take the opportunity to smash this netbook on your head two points earlier, refrain from it now - you have configured it. Well, or almost set up ...

Now think about installing some useful software:

  1. WinRar -
  2. K-Lite Codec Pack -

In this article, we will tell you how install Windows 7 from a USB stick. The manual is designed primarily for a novice computer user. Installing an operating system from a flash drive is mainly required for computers that do not have a DVD drive. For example, netbooks do not have an optical drive.

Before starting the installation of Windows 7 on a netbook, you need to save all important files from the "C" drive. Do not forget that after installing a new system, all your documents and files will be erased from both the My Documents folder and the Desktop. All installed programs will also disappear. Also, before installing a new Windows system, we strongly recommend that you download drivers for your computer, laptop or netbook, and save them on disk "D" or other data carrier.

The installation of Windows 7 on a netbook can be divided into 3 stages:

  • Preparing a USB stick;
  • Setting up the order of loading information media in the BIOS;
  • Directly installing the system.

Preparing a flash drive

We decided to describe three different types of installing Windows from a USB flash drive.

1 way

To install the system you need:

  • Distribution with Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.
  • UltraISO program.
  • USB stick with 4 GB or more.

First, you need to copy the Windows 7 system image in .iso format to the computer disk. Then download and install UltraISO programs.

After launching UltraISO you need to open the .iso image of the distribution kit. To do this, click the File - Open ... menu:

We indicate the place where the image of the previously downloaded operating system is located. Next, go to the Boot menu and select Burn hard disk image.

After that, insert your USB flash drive into your laptop or computer. Click the Format button. Select the file system type and click Start. After the formatting process is complete, click on the Write button.

That's it, the image has been written to the USB flash drive.

2 way

As in method 1, you need a Windows 7 distribution kit and a 4GB flash drive.
First, you need to insert the USB flash drive into the USB port of your computer and run the Command Prompt (Win + R keyboard shortcut).

Next, type the command clean and press Enter. Enter the create partition primary command and then press the Enter button. To select the 1st partition, you need to enter select partition 1 in the command line and press Enter. Next, you should enter the command active and press the Enter key again.

Enter the command format fs = NTFS and press Enter. The process of formatting the partition will start. Next, you need to assign a letter to your flash drive with the command assign letter = Z. Press Enter. After that, a USB stick will appear on your system. Close the Command Prompt by entering Exit.

Now copy all the files from the OS distribution disk to your USB flash drive. (you can also unpack the .iso image in the UltraISO program). Click the Extract button and specify your USB flash drive. Done, the image is written to a USB flash drive.

3 way

We have finished preparing the USB stick.

BIOS and boot from a USB flash drive

We insert the USB flash drive with the recorded system into your computer, laptop or netbook and reboot. When you start your computer, you need to enter the BIOS. To do this, you need to press a specific key. Often, when loading, it is indicated at the bottom which key must be pressed. These can be the Del, F2, Esc keys and others.

After you entered the BIOS, you need to find the item for setting the boot order of drives. Often these settings are located in the BOOT tab. Place your USB stick at the top of the list. Flash drives are usually labeled in BIOS as USB-HDD.

Next, you need to save the settings you made and exit the BIOS of your computer. To do this, find an item called Save and Exit Setup. After you click on this item, your computer should restart. Now you can proceed directly to installing the OS itself.

OS installation

Installing Windows 7 from a USB stick in the future is no different from installing from a DVD. This process is already described in detail in the article: in the third paragraph " Installing Windows 7". After installing the system, you need to install the drivers for your computer, laptop or netbook and install the required programs.

How to install Windows 7 on a netbook from a USB flash drive using UltraISO

Today I would like to talk about how to install Windows 7 on a netbook not having an external DVD drive.

We only need three things. A minimum 4GB flash drive, an ISO image with Windows 7 and the UltraISO program. Ready? Well then, let's get started.

Download UltraISO from the developer's official website and install.

The whole installation is reduced to successive clicks on the button "Further"... You shouldn't have any difficulties, so I will omit this moment.

Each time you start the program, a window will appear prompting you to register UltraISO. Do not wonder. The program is paid and costs $ 29.95, but there is a 30-day trial period, which is quite enough for us to have time to write the image to a USB flash drive.

Feel free to press the button "Trial period ..." and use the UltraISO program absolutely free of charge for the next 30 days.

Now proceeds directly to the recording of the image. Open the ISO image with Windows 7 using the command "File Open".

After that, go to the menu and select the item "Burn hard disk image ...".

In field "Disk Driver" specify the flash drive to which the image will be recorded. In line "Recording method:" choose "USB-HDD" and click on the button "Burn".

After you click on the button "Burn", a window will appear warning that the recording process will destroy all information on the flash drive. Check if there is something important on the flash drive and only after that press the button "Yes".

The recording process has begun.

It only remains to wait a little. The recording time directly depends on the speed of your flash drive and the general speed of the computer.

Wait? Fine. The bootable USB drive has been created, and now you can install Windows 7 on your netbook.

We connect the USB flash drive to the netbook, reboot and at the very beginning of the boot press F12 (or F10, depending on the BIOS version) and select boot from USB.

Now, just install Windows, just as you would if you were installing from a CD / DVD.

This method of creating a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 7 is far from the only one, but probably the fastest and easiest. I will talk about other methods in the following notes.

Hope you know now how to install Windows 7 on a netbook from a flash drive
