Firmware with Hebrew localization for mag 250. MAG250 Micro firmware update

Due to the blocking of portals by the information world (users of not only our service encountered this), the need arose for such a topic. In the upload we uploaded patched firmware for set-top boxes 250/254/256/322/326, in which auto-updates and access to Infoworld servers to obtain data about blocked portals are blocked. We are not the authors of the post; you can read more at the link.

Firmware:

1) Download the firmware for your console
2) Connect a USB flash drive (1-4GB is enough) to the computer. If the flash drive is not in the FAT32 file system, then format it. Copy the firmware file to the root of the USB flash drive
3) On the USB drive you should have a MAG250 directory (according to the model of your console), which contains two files: imageupdate and Bootstrap
4) Enter the BIOS of the MAG console. Instructions on how to login:
- Unplug your set-top box.
- Next, insert the USB drive into the connector on the rear panel of the set-top box.
- Press and hold the "menu" button on the remote control
- Without releasing the "menu" button, connect the power to the set-top box.

After this procedure you should be in the BIOS of the set-top box.

5) Select "Upgrade Tools", click OK or right arrow.

7) Click OK to confirm.

After successful firmware installation, the set-top box will reboot automatically and boot with the new firmware.
Please note that in some cases it is possible that the set-top box will not “see” the firmware on the flash drive when flashing. The easiest option in this case is to try the described points with another flash drive.

ATTENTION! We do not force anyone to flash consoles; it is up to the user to do it or not.

MAG-250 Micro and MAG-245 are an excellent subscriber solution in combination with headends and Middleware from the company

In this article we will look in detail at how to update the firmware on this STB and how to restore it.

So we have a MAG 250 Micro IPTV set-top box, on which we need to update the firmware. Where to start?

    1. Go to the BIOS menu, to do this you need to:

    • Power off
    • Press and hold down the " Menu» on the remote control
    • Without releasing the button " Menu» turn on the power of STB MAG 250 Micro

As a result, we see the following picture on the screen:

    2. Menu item " Upgrade Tools", enter by pressing right on the remote control

    3. Select " USB Bootstrap"(a folder mag250 must be created on the USB drive, which should contain 2 files: bootstrap and imageupdate)

    4. Connect the USB drive and confirm by pressing OK to begin the update process

    5. Wait until the update is completed and the device reboots

The firmware is installed in 2 stages - flashing the intermediate version in bootloader mode and updating to the current version via the Internet.

To update the intermediate version of the firmware, you need to download the firmware and update utilities:

We unpack the archive - we see 3 files in the folder.

Launch mcast.exe. If there are several interfaces, you must select a wired network card. The address is usually 192.168.x.y

In the next dialog, you need to select the bootstrap and imageupdate files from the unpacked archive.

Select an item Upgrade Tools and Use the right arrow to open the update menu.

There we select the item MC Upgrade and press the right arrow.

The set-top box will show the Multicast address, which must be entered into the first IP field in the program mcast.exe

We only change Stream 1, IP address, port: 224.50.0.50:9000 from the previous picture. We do not touch the second address. And press the buttons start

In a couple of minutes, after the cursor starts moving, the set-top box will report the successful download of the first file.

You will need to wait a few minutes until the firmware itself downloads:

After this, the console will reboot itself.

The first stage of the firmware ends here.

In the second stage, you need to click on the button when loading SETUP to download the final firmware.

    Go to the section Settings

And select the item Update software now.

    Select an item Update

And we agree to automatic firmware updates in the future.

The set-top box will automatically reboot.

And it will show a window for entering credentials for iptv, which can be obtained in your personal account.

To enter a dot symbol, press the key OK You can call up the on-screen keyboard on the remote control.

Not so long ago, the management of the company where I work shifted all responsibility regarding IP television onto my fragile male shoulders))) That is why the number of blog posts has decreased slightly, but I have accumulated knowledge, and I will actually share it. I'll start with how to flash the mag200 console with the latest firmware. There is no point in describing what the console can do, although a whole post could be dedicated to this, but not today... Today the task will be to update the firmware of this miracle.
First of all, we merge the latest firmware release from the off-site
We need two files Bootstrap And imageupdate
Afterwards we will need a programmine, by the way, their development, which will throw out the firmware files by multicast
ZY I don’t recommend messing around in a local area, because you can do a lot of things, and evil admins will come with a stick and will have a blast on the liver, kidneys, spleen... I’ve somehow gone off topic)))
    Let's continue...
We connect the console to the computer from which we will flash.
We copy all the files we downloaded into one folder, i.e. mcast.exe, Bootstrap And imageupdate
Run on a computer mcast.exe in the window that appears, select the interface to which the set-top box is connected:

and press the button Select in the window that appears, click on the buttons Start

And we get approximately the following picture:

Presses a button on the remote control Menu and turn on the power switch of the set-top box, and find ourselves in the so-called BIOS
Where in the menu do we select Upgrade Tools

and the next point MC Upgrade

After flashing, if everything went well, the set-top box will reboot and launch the internal portal.
Otherwise you'll just get an error Wrong image if you messed up somewhere and watch the secrets of the black screen))))
    Good luck experimenting with firmware!)
P.S. for mag250 the procedure is similar, only the firmware is taken from here
