Conclusion

In fairness, it should be noted that very few well-known and popular programs, such as Adobe Photoshop or Nero do not have their fully competitive analogues or, as it is customary to say among the people, “substitutes”, and it does not matter whether the alternative is software free or commercial.

Since we have already touched on the aforementioned programs, it would be nice to consider their counterparts, however, given the need to be brief, we decided to focus on only one of them, namely the analogue of Nero - a fairly popular product called Ashampoo Burning Studio 12.

General information about Ashampoo Burning Studio 12

Burning Studio 12 is a powerful and convenient utilities for burning and copying CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs, as well as for creating and imaging discs. The program supports the creation of music CDs and MP3 / WMA discs, boot images, booklets, covers, slideshows, erasing rewritable discs, rewriting, finalizing, recording data using effects, normalizing, authoring and editing video, backup and restore data, editing disc menu, as well as many other useful operations.

Download ten-day trial version Applications can be found on the developer's website. If ten days of the trial period is not enough for you, the trial period can be extended. To do this, you need to provide the developer with your email, to which a free registration key. By registering the program with them, you will receive another 20 days of free use.

Installation Features

As a rule, installing Ashampoo Burning Studio is straightforward. During installation, you will be prompted to install the MyAshampoo toolbar, as well as change the address home page in the browser. You can refuse these and other offers by selecting the item “ Custom installation". It is also possible that for correct operation program you will need to install Microsift .NET Framework 4.0.

Interface

Like all products from Ashampoo Burning Studio, it has a colorful animated and very user-friendly interface. Russian language, of course, is available. The program supports changing color themes design, which, by the way, is implemented very in an unusual way– by dragging the “color” slider.

In any advanced settings the application does not need. In the left part of the working window there is a toolbar divided into four main groups for the convenience of the user: Record, Create and Record, Design and Print.

Key tools Ashampoo Burning Studio

The first group includes tools for recording and backing up data. The “Create and Burn” group includes tools audio creation, MP3, WMA discs, as well as slideshows, including slideshows using video. The “Miscellaneous” section includes tools for creating and viewing images, finalizing, copying, erasing, as well as some other specific functions.

The last section is represented by a single cover tool. With it, you can create covers for your CDs and DVD discs, as well as DVD-, Slim-, Jewel- and Blu-ray boxes.

Working with Burning Studio does not need any special comments. Recording, copying, ripping, creating slideshows, as well as performing other operations are performed using step by step wizard and is accompanied by detailed comments. Dialog boxes records are practically no different from windows similar applications. The process of creating and setting up a project is not very different from working in other programs.

Although, most likely, this statement is dictated by personal sympathy for this product, which is certainly wonderful in all respects.

True, Burning Studio must be given its due - in terms of performance, this program is indeed one step ahead of Nero.

My introduction to Ashampoo Burning Studio started a few years ago when the most common operating system was Windows XP. Her disc recording capabilities were rather limited, and my task was to find a convenient free app for this purpose.

The choice of freely distributed software designed to solve this problem turned out to be quite large, but almost all applications were rejected for one of two reasons. Most of them certainly wanted to work only under account administrator, while I needed to install the program on an account with limited rights. Others, however, did not know how to work with Russian text, filling in the Russian-language names of the recorded files with “krakozyabry”.

In the end, despite the seeming abundance in this niche, the only solution that perfectly fit my requirements turned out to be an application from Ashampoo. It was completely free, did not require administrator rights, had a convenient Russian-language interface, worked perfectly both with discs and with their images and supported working with Blu-ray discs even when we still had far from everyone who knew what it was. I still consider this application to be the best free disc burning product.

There are nine sections in the program - "Data Recording", "Backup", "Music", "Video + Slideshow", "Covers", "Copy Disc", "Disc Image", "Additional Features" and "Maintenance" .

The "Write data" section is intended for recording arbitrary sets of files and supports several additional options. Here you can write both new discs and add to existing ones.

If the data set is too large for the selected disc format, you can use the function that will automatically divide the project into several discs.

There is also a function for burning discs with autorun. Autostart can be implemented in two ways - using start menu or with normal start playback of content after loading a recorded disc into the drive. If you choose the option with a menu, then you can design it right here, using a special built-in editor, which already has a decent supply of templates.

And for data that needs to be protected from unauthorized access, there is an encrypted recording function. Password access is used as protection. Moreover, the program controls the level of reliability of the password set by the user. For example, a password of less than five characters cannot be physically set here. If it turns out to be just easy, the application will report this, but it will still allow you to burn the disc.

The "Backup" section is used to create backups files stored on a computer with Ashampoo Burning Studio 15 installed, as well as on devices connected to it, such as smartphones, tablets, players, and so on. The program supports not only the creation of new archives, but also the updating of existing ones. The finished archive can be burned to disk or saved to a disk or flash drive.

But what if the archive needs to be written, but its size exceeds the size of the disk? In fact, there is nothing complicated about this. Firstly, the application has a data compression function that allows you to reduce the final size of the archive, and secondly, the finished archive can be split into parts for subsequent recording on multiple media. There are quite a lot of available parameters here, and if necessary, the archive can be distributed even on three-inch floppy disks, if you still remember what it is.

The "Music" section is mainly used for creating audio CDs. There are several options here - creating an audio CD, MP3 or WMA disc, as well as simply burning media with a set of arbitrary audio recordings.

In addition, in the same section there is a ripping function, thanks to which you can copy recordings from audio CDs. Six formats are available to the user to save tracks: MP3, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, WMA and WAV.

The next section is about burning video discs and creating creative slide shows.

Among the video recording features, Ashampoo Burning Studio 15 supports creating VCD, SVCD, DVD and Blu-ray discs from the data folder. The DVD and Blu-ray slideshow recording function, in turn, allows you to create spectacular digital photo albums.

For lovers beautiful design discs, the program offers a built-in editor, with which you can easily make up covers for cases of any type, booklets and disc labels. Well, or you can just immediately print the prepared image directly on the blank, if you have a printer that supports this function.

With the function of copying discs, I think everything is clear, so we will not dwell on it. As well as tools for creating disc images and burning discs from images.

The application also has some additional functions like finalizing, erasing rewritable discs, and changing already finished projects. In addition, the program supports the creation of boot disks.

All in all, Ashampoo Burning Studio 15 has it all. necessary tools, which may only be needed for recording and designing discs, as well as something on top.

The app is great and very easy to use. This is easy to verify for yourself, because it has a free ten-day trial. trial period. In addition, if desired, this period can be extended to a month, and during this time you will surely determine whether it is worth buying the application.

About disk image- a virtual clone of the physical CD/DVD-disk - much more convenient than the latter to use. While one physical drive can only read data from one CD/DVD, several images can be read simultaneously by several virtual drives, respectively. The number of those may be limited only by the capabilities of the program that works with virtual drives and images.

A physical CD/DVD is subject to wear and tear, and its virtual clone can be mounted for days at a time and then removed from the virtual drive, and nothing will happen to it.

Any physical CD/DVD can be converted into a virtual one and have access to it at any time. Moreover, Windows 7 is latest version operating system, where reading ISO disk images required third party program for emulation virtual drives. Latest relevant Windows versions- 8.1 and new 10 - the ability to connect an ISO image as separate device provided directly in context menu conductor.

There are many programs that can create a CD / DVD disc image, in particular, these are programs designed specifically for mounting virtual drives or for burning CD / DVD discs. Below we will get acquainted with the process of creating a CD / DVD image in the simplest way, moreover, free way– with Ashampoo Burning software Studio Free.

Burning Studio Freerare case when the German developer Ashampoo offers their product for free, but even then the company pursues commercial interests. The program is crammed everywhere with offers to buy paid software from Ashampoo. Truth, free product made on the conscience and in no way inferior to paid. Like all Ashampoo products, Burning Studio Free has a modern usable interface, a clear and understandable organization of functionality into sections.

You can download Burning Studio Free for free from the Ashampoo website. (see link at the end of the article)

Ashampoo Burning Studio Free offers standard set for working with CD / DVD: this, in particular, erasing, burning and copying discs, creating video and audio discs, working with images. The disk images available on the computer using the program can be burned to a disc, and CD / DVD with data, on the contrary, turned into virtual images, including standard format ISO. In addition, the brainchild of Ashampoo is able to create images of CD / DVD discs from the files on your computer.

Well, let's proceed directly to creating a disk image. In the program window, select a section "Disk Image", and among the three possible functions- respectively, .

The next window is preparatory, in it we will see the definition of the drive, and if there are several of them, select the required one in the drop-down list. After the program detects the CD / DVD disk and considers it suitable for creating a virtual clone, click "Further".

And then what remains for us is to specify the path to save the disk image on the computer and select the output file format ISO, unless, of course, a different format of the disk image is fundamentally needed. The program provides for few such: except for third party formats ISO, IMG and CUE/BIN, the rest are Ashampoo software formats.

The only nuance should be taken into account when choosing where to save the disk image. After pressing the browse and select button desired folder in the explorer window, along with the name, you must specify through a dot and the file extension by type "Filename.iso" (for most cases) or "Filename.img". We press "Further" to start the process.

The disk imaging process will start.

After that, it remains only to wait for its successful completion.

Today we will learn how to burn discs with Ashampoo Burning Studio. Using her example, you will understand how most disc burning programs work.

Well, let's get started. We open in advance installed program, we will see the main window of the program:

As you can see, all recording methods are divided into convenient groups and presented in the menu.

In order, what is suitable for what (only what we need):

  • Writing files and folders- the most basic method, suitable for most tasks. Whether it's documents, movies (which you will watch on another computer or on a player that supports all codecs), mp3 music (for car radios and players that support this format), photos and any other files.
  • Backing up or restoring files and folders- creating backup copies of your data.
  • Recording and converting music- a very good point. Here you can burn an audio CD, convert an audio CD to mp3 (download it to your computer) and create a special mp3/wma disc.
  • Film recording- Another one of the "tasty" items. Here you can create a DVD disc (playable on any DVD player) from video files (a lot of formats, but not all, mkv could not be processed with it, it is better to use VSO Convert X to DVD), you can also make a DVD slideshow, burn blu-ray disc(and in HD).
  • Copying a disc - the item speaks for itself. Copying from disk to disk.
  • Creating/burning an image- to create a correct and complete copy of the disc on your computer, also for subsequent recording of a disc from this copy.
  • Erasing a disc- erasing a rewritable disc.

As we can see, the program is very extensive, it captures all the sections that may be needed when recording.

Let's go in order from the first point. We left-click on the menu and see three submenu items. We need the first one, it's called "Create a new CD/DVD/Blu-Ray disc". We get the window for adding files to the project:

Here you can change the name of the disc. You can also create your own structure by creating folders (button " new folder"). To add files, click the "Add" button. We get the file selection window:

It, like everything in Windows, is based on file manager Explorer, so it won't be difficult to figure out what's what.

You can watch the bottom bar (labeled "Estimated Size") for an indication of how full the disk is. Check out its size to choose the right one. When the operation is completed, click "Next". The burn start window (burning) will appear:

We select a beeping drive, insert the media (disk) for recording, the program will check the disk and say that the disk is good and recording is possible. Then it will become active button"Record", which you should click. Next, we are waiting for the completion of the burning process (recording). So we recorded our first disc.

To be continued…
