MediaMonkey is a free audio player with the ability to manage your music collection. Music organizer for serious collections

With this powerful program, you can easily bring complete order to the music collections on your computer. After starting development, you can quite simply organize all available CD media and music files of different formats into one single library. In parallel with this, you will be able to edit tags in compositions automatically or manually, you will be able to rename files or directories using a given mask, you can do the full news.

If we consider additional advantages, then of course we cannot ignore the program’s ability to work with plug-ins from the Winamp player; among other things, MediaMonkey can synchronize data with a fairly large number of portable players, for example, with an iPod. If you want to have a sorted music collection, with all the CD covers, descriptions, tags and so on, then I think MediaMonkey is quite suitable for you.

So, using the development, you will be able to use a convenient manager, listen to music and adjust the equalizer, plus connect DSP effects, you can also copy CDs and convert tracks between each other, automatically rename files and tags, you can search for duplicate music files on hard drives, MediaMonkey can create playlists, you can order a full report on all ongoing operations, there is support for burning CD and DVD media, there is file control. MediaMonkey has Russian support, so I think it won’t be difficult to understand the abundance of possibilities, in general, enjoy everyone’s use!

Music organizer for serious collections!

The new beast has an exceptional design, but fortunately, this is not the only advantage of the combine. MediaMonkey can play more than 20 audio file formats, rip CDs, burn CD/DVDs, convert music into the 5 most popular formats (MP3, M4A, OGG, FLAC and WMA), connect to portable devices (iPod, iRiver), generate tags for audio files, contains an excellent tag editor, hotkey support, proxy for streaming Internet radio and much more.

Various methods for grouping songs, there is even Drag’n’Drop for creating your own playlists with just two clicks of the mouse. Support for additional skins and plugins (input, output, DSP, general, visualization), there is a good 7-band equalizer, although far from perfect.

There are several other useful features, but access to them is only available after purchasing an additional license. Without it, the program is completely free, the only drawback is the lack of a Russian-language interface, which is so lacking in the program.

The main media window of the player is a large center, including information about the song (at the bottom), the library tree (on the left), the playlist list (on the right), and the current list of songs (the central part).

The player only lacks a more convenient window, reduced in size by half and having only the most necessary functions, a Russian language pack, a more advanced equalizer, a slightly more complete range of supported file formats and a couple more minor fixes, in general, even now MediaMonkey is a worthy analogue and a competitor to advanced players.

I still recommend trying a certain monkey from Ventis Media Inc., taste new technologies and try out some new functions; I don’t think it differs much from small audio players in its functional qualities.

...Happy owners of several iOS devices have a problem when connecting them to one PC - when syncing an iPod/iPhone/iPad via iTunes.

For example, you previously synchronized your iPad with your personal computer, and now you purchased an iPhone and connected it to your PC. When you run the program, a message will appear "This computer has already been synced withor another device with iOS".

MediaMonkey Gold 4.1.20.1864 + Repack + Portable / 4.1.21.1868 Beta / v1.3.2.0806 Android

Don't do this!..

The fact is that by default, only one media library is created on the PC, and if special measures are not taken, the same programs and media files will be installed on all synchronized iOS devices. And when you add/remove content, it will be added/deleted to all devices. And you will begin to get confused when putting order in this media mess!..

How to solve this problem?

The conclusion suggests itself: if Apple can’t (or doesn’t want?) help us through its vaunted program, then we need to do it ourselves - create a separate media library for each iOS device. It is advisable to do this immediately - before connecting and synchronizing a new iOS device - so that it won’t be excruciatingly painful later, recreating separate content on separate i-devices.

How to Create a New iTunes Library

– run the program iTunes;

– select menu Edit –> Settings…(on Mac OS - iTunes –> Settings);

– open a tab Additional;

– uncheck the box Copy to iTunes Media folder when adding to library(if installed) –> OK;

– close the program iTunes;

– restart iTunes while holding down the key Shift(on Mac OS when opening iTunes hold down the key Option);

– in the dialog box that opens with a message “iTunes requires a media library. You can select an existing iTunes library or create a new one." click the button Create a media library;

- in the window New iTunes Library in the dropdown list Folder name set the name of the media library (by default it is suggested iTunes 1, but it’s better to change it to the name of the newly connected iOS device – , or);

- program iTunes will open with a new media library file;

– via menu File –> Add file to media library... add the required multimedia files and files of applications you have already purchased (if they are simultaneously intended for several types of iOS devices);

– connect your iOS device to the PC (if it is not connected);

– synchronize it with the newly created media library iTunes.

What music players have I not used (listed in order of use):
  • Windows Mmedia Player (software was unavailable during dialup)
  • Winamp (at the beginning of the 21st century, all my friends had it, there was no alternative except some homemade software, the software was still difficult to get)
  • Aimp (very convenient search, work with playlists, Winamp does a great job)
  • iTunes (installed it as an experiment, it was inconvenient, so I quickly gave up, I think if I had an iPod, I would use it)
  • JetAudio (I switched to it on the advice of a friend, the sound is great, especially in movies, it’s damn inconvenient, that’s why I left it. Still, be sure to try watching a movie with high-quality sound in it, you’ll like it)
  • foobar2000 (excellent sound, work with playlists, search - everything is cool, but working with the library is not very good)
  • and yet, I still chose MediaMonkey.

What is he like?

All screenshots have different visual designs and different bookmarks are open.

Mini player:

Why did I even go there??

I had a lot of music accumulated, there were a lot of old tracks without tags, a lot of songs were in homemade compilations (I heard it somewhere, took out shazam and put it in a folder ala “my compilation 9999”). Such tracks were downloaded mainly from contact and, as a rule, had neither cover nor tags. The moment came when I wanted to put order in all this mess, neatly put everything into folders, add tags and covers. This is how I came across MediaMonkey (it had already been recommended to me before).

What advantages I found:

  • Support for scrobbling with Last.FM
  • Convenient search. By library, playlist, collection and even in Google))
  • UpnP/DLNA sharing
  • Editing tags, very simple, very fast (in bulk and however you like)
  • Convenient adjustment to just one standard
  • There is a rating system
  • Supports WMP (Windows Media Player), iTunes (import) media libraries
  • Synchronization with the player
  • Accesses the Internet through a proxy

Let's take a look inside

So, Tools - settings - library - file control - specify folders with our music(it seems that this window will fly out on its own after the first launch and the music folder will initially be in the user’s directory)

Here I checked the box for myself " scan on startup". It would also be possible to display " Continuously", but I have an x64 system (the program is not adapted for it) and therefore scanning loads half the processor. So I had to turn off continuous scanning.

Proxy

I checked the appropriate boxes and entered the proxy data. I would like to note that the standard problem with login and password is also present here, but it is not very critical, let me explain: even if you specify the login and password, then when you “import tags” in the built-in browser, the pictures will not load and a Windows window will pop up "enter your login and password", in Windows this is only possible if you have a Windows proxy server, and if 3proxy(like mine - it’s useless), it’s easier to disable authentication via login and password and do it, for example, via ip. Despite this, when importing the cover, everything imports fine.

Scrobbling

Next I downloaded scrobler for last.fm from here. There are no problems with add-ons, just run the installation file, restart the program and all add-ons are in place.

Let's move on to the settings: Tools - settings - Last.Fm service Enter your username and password, I set the following parameters for myself:

And on the tab Submission Rules:

Working with the library

It's time to clean up your audio library.

For batch tidying up: Tools - settings - library - auto-organization add a sorting rule and a folder in which the files will be sorted. I didn’t trust it, but most likely it will sort by tags already in the files.

To manually restore order, I use the following algorithm.

1. We come across a file without a cover, lying in the wrong place, without tags (or with an incomplete list of them) and add the main ones.

The main ones will be Song Title, Artist, Album Artist

If the file has no tags at all: ..

There we indicate on what principle our name is based: in my case: <Исполнитель>\<Год>ZeFein\<Название>-<Исполнитель> Parameters that will change will be highlighted in yellow

If there are few tags missing (one or two), it’s easier to do it manually, as a rule, this is the point"Album Artist"If this item is filled in, this will significantly speed up the search for information on Amazon. This field in 99% of cases will be identical to the field " Executor", just click on it with the mouse and it will be filled.

2. We are looking for information on the Internet.

To do this: right-click on it - auto-tag from file names... The program finds options, then you must select the desired album from the search results (if it was identified incorrectly) and indicate which items you want to rewrite (by checking the appropriate boxes). Everything that will be replaced is highlighted in yellow. Click: Auto tag I have the following settings (I recommend you do the same)

ZY Cover titles are generated themselves.

You can also delve into the settings, then click OK. We are waiting for the changes to be applied. Click close.

3. We send the file to the orderly ranks of our audio library.

Once the file has all the tags, then all the paths will be written correctly.

If everything suits you, click OK.

At the same time, you can calmly listen to this song, the playback will not stop for a second. Exactly the same operations can be done with an entire album.

This method is great for foreign performers (those that are on Amazon); unfortunately, this cannot be done for Russian-speaking performers and little-known ones. Therefore, you can install a plugin that will have Russian performers in its database.

I tested these:

  • MusicBrainz Tagger (searches for Russian-language songs, but has problems with covers)
  • Napster Tagger 1.0 (Russians are not looking for it, what's the use of it)
  • Discogs Tagger (probably the best of the options, supports searching for Russian artists, very fast)

Synchronization with the player

MediaMonkey supports synchronization with players in various modes. It also syncs with iPod.

I have a Cowon S9 player, it can be used either in USB mode or as an MTP device, I use it as an MTP device for Last.FM scrobbling. MediaMonkey just supports working with such devices. To support MTP devices, the following is added to MediaMonkey.ini:

The synchronization settings here are also very broad:
  • synchronization with playlist, catalog
  • synchronization of randomly selected tracks
  • taking into account priority (rating) during synchronization
  • automatic library update with newer versions of the song on the player
  • deleting left tracks from the player (which are not in the synchronization list) with the ability to exclude the folders you need
  • transcode music to another format, bitrate
  • divide audiobooks, music, classics, etc. into different folders.
  • separate settings for covers, tags
