At worst, using the mentioned option, you can completely erase all data from your iPhone. The erasing process will start as soon as the smartphone gains access to the Internet via cell or Wi-Fi, and the command is sent to its control unit.

After this, the iPhone will be reset to factory settings, but do not unlink it from your “account” yet, as then the remote lock will also be disabled. This means that scammers will be able to do whatever they want with the smartphone. This is an extreme measure, usually used only when the value of the data exceeds the value of the device itself.

Don’t ignore the important and useful “Find iPhone” option. After all, if your iPhone is stolen, with its help you can even remotely protect your personal data from hacking. In this case, it simply becomes a useless piece of metal, and it can only be used as a donor of spare parts.

In the case where this option was not activated, the user's options are, of course, much more limited. But something can still be done. Basically, it all comes down not so much to the actual search for the lost device, but to making it as difficult as possible for scammers to sell stolen goods.
