Options for roaming abroad from MTS. Roaming from mts

When abroad, it is important to have access to mobile communications and the Internet. They may be necessary for business or personal communication and will allow you to share new impressions. Before the trip, you need to connect and activate roaming abroad MTS and one of the profitable services to save money.

How to activate roaming abroad MTS

Access to mobile communications when traveling abroad will be provided by MTS after adding 2 services to its tariff:

  • “International and national roaming”;
  • "International access".

When adding the 1st service, the 2nd one is automatically connected. You can connect them separately only in MTS showrooms or when contacting the call center.

Only if you have 2 options, while abroad, you can make outgoing calls and send SMS, including to Russia.

There are 3 ways to connect to roaming services:

  • USSD command *111*2192#;
  • in the mobile application;
  • through the call center;
  • at the MTS office.

When connecting, the following conditions must be met:

  • The subscriber must be an MTS client for at least six months. The amount of accruals for this period should be more than 650 rubles.
  • The subscriber has been a client of MTS for more than a year; the amount of accruals for any of the 12 months of the last year should not be equal to 0.

When adding international roaming services, the mobile number must be active and have a positive balance. Both options are free to connect and no money is charged for their service.

If none of the above conditions are met, then it is recommended to activate the “Easy Roaming” service.

Montenegro has been gaining more and more attention from tourists in recent years. Thousands of vacationers every year go to bask in the sun in this beautiful country, and for Megafon subscribers roaming in Montenegro has become even more accessible.

When you go on vacation abroad, you immediately think about how to contact your loved ones.

Of course, in the twenty-first century there are many ways to connect with each other via the Internet, but what if connecting to WIFI is not possible? Then the good old way comes to the rescue. You can simply dial the number of a loved one and say how much you miss them. But then the next question arises: how much will you have to pay for it? The Megafon company takes care of its customers and does everything possible to make their vacation unforgettable, and they don’t have to worry about such little things.

If you do not use any additional services provided by Megafon, roaming in Montenegro will not be cheap. All outgoing calls to Russia will cost 79 rubles per minute. And calls to other countries cost 129 rubles per minute. All incoming calls will also be paid, as well as calls to Russia, they will cost 79 rubles. One SMS message will cost you 25 rubles. And Internet traffic for only 70 megabytes per day - 350 rubles! Agree, this is not a budget option at all.

Therefore, when traveling to Montenegro, you can choose one of the following services:

The whole world

This service is suitable for those who receive a lot of calls while traveling. The first 40 minutes of incoming calls will be completely free. Further minutes will be charged according to Montenegro roaming.

Connecting this option is absolutely free. And the subscription fee is 59 rubles per day.

Around the world

For just 9 rubles per day, you can enjoy all the benefits of mobile communications at the lowest price.

The amount for incoming calls will be reduced to 13 rubles, and the fee for SMS to 11 rubles. You will have to pay 15 rubles for connection.

Minute packages

You can also immediately activate a package of minutes for the entire duration of your stay abroad. A package for 25 minutes will cost 329 rubles, and a package for 50 minutes will cost 495 rubles.

Also, for those who cannot imagine their life without the Internet, there is a unique opportunity to connect to unlimited Internet. True, this pleasure will not be cheap - 600 rubles per day.

I am preparing for international roaming with MTS in Montenegro. Despite all the advice given to me about purchasing a local SIM card for data transfer, which must be inserted into the second slot of the smartphone, and calling through the MTS Connect application, powered by the Internet from it, I realized that the cost of purchasing a SIM card will not be so different from payment “Zero without limits” options for bonuses throughout the entire period to take such a risky combination. I received advice about local SIM in the comments from Alexander (for which I thank him):

In Montenegro, one local operator can connect to two Internet packages for 20 days. One for 7 days costs 2.90 euros for 1.5 GB, the second 3.90 for 1.5 GB for 15 days. That is, 3 GB for 470 rubles. [...] Operator Crnogorski Telecom tariffs Pleme or Mono, activation of packages by sending SMS to number 1467 for 7 days with the text SURF, for 15 days - text INT 15. Checking INT INFO or through the *111# menu. First, you can connect a package for 15 days, or vice versa, if this package is enough for you for 15 days, then after 15 days, connect for 7 days. If it’s not enough, then after using up the traffic, you can reconnect the package for 15 days or 7 days. Connecting to the operator costs 3 euros, 3 euros on your account. You need a passport.

The fact is that the MTS Connect application itself, by design, is not intended to work from the Internet of a second SIM card, but was developed for calls via Wi-Fi, because I don’t know what would work in practice, I haven’t tried it (whoever tried it, write). Moreover, MTS Connect is very sensitive to the quality of the Internet connection, so if it suddenly turns out to be insufficient, the incoming connection can automatically go through the mobile network, which, without a downgrade option, will remind me of the proverb “the miser pays twice.” I’m also frankly not sure that a local SIM together with the package will really cost me no more than the above amount. With Thailand, I received the same advice, but locally the prices of SIM cards turned out to be several times higher, and the packages were different. And finding a SIM card turned out to be not a momentary matter.

I’m also very tired of reading outright nonsense on the Internet that now “free Wi-Fi is everywhere,” especially in Europe, so for complete happiness, connecting with home is enough via Viber/WhatsApp/Skype. First of all, this is clearly not enough to receive incoming calls, but to make calls yourself - I, gentlemen-advisers of this kind, sincerely wish you to be “in the right place at the right time” precisely only with messenger. Especially God knows where at night. In general, communication via Viber is now very common in Montenegro, but I would not rely solely on it.

So, for 20 days we will need to activate the option for bonus points 2 times "Zero without borders" MTS, which is equal to 500 points x 2 = 1000, as well as 47.5 rubles. x 20 = 950 rub. (50% discount). Numbers 2, that is, 2000 points and 1900 rubles. Accordingly, I expect to spend approximately this amount on communications for 20 days in Montenegro with my wife. We need incoming messages of different durations, moreover, to our Moscow numbers.

Next, I write down in a booklet the combination for preferential outgoing calls at 19.9 rubles per minute for European countries when calling home and within the host country: *137*. That's what the service is called “Outgoing calls from 19.9 rubles.”. The number will be dialed like this: *137*7916ХХХХХХХ# [call]. It will do as a backup option in case of emergency. At 60 rubles/minute at the basic rates at MTS, let them call themselves.

To communicate from an apartment (we are staying in a rented apartment) the application will be used MTS Connect. I hope that we will get decent Wi-Fi and communication from abroad at home rates will become possible for us.

For those who are aware of all this and do not understand why I am writing all this, a small bonus:

Call Ender app

We have installed a free Call Ender application on our Andriod smartphones. In Google Play, it is searched for the phrase “auto call end” (separately) or “call end” and has the same description: “auto end call, call.”

As you know, with the “Zero without Borders” option, a free incoming call is limited to 10 minutes (total quota of 200 minutes per month), over 25 rubles per minute. Sadly, even among our loved ones there are people who do not want to remember this, no matter how much you drill into them before the trip.

The Call Terminator program can terminate a call depending on its duration. You set the quota yourself. I'll put it at 595 seconds, which is 9 minutes 55 seconds.

The downside of the application, in addition to its truly shameful Russification, is the inability to set a separate timer for incoming/outgoing calls. However, in my case this is completely unimportant. But it works - I checked it, and now we can communicate in international roaming calmly.

Added 01/16/2017

Attention! In practice, the Call Ender app has proven to be extremely unreliable. Calls on the timer were interrupted every other time for both me and my wife. As a result, we lost money several times due to 10 minutes overrun. The author of the application turned out to be an irresponsible and dishonest person - he simply did not react to the comment about the semi-inoperability of his brainchild in the Play Store.
