TO this method should be used only as a last resort, when none of the above has helped. The main disadvantage of resetting content and settings is that all parameters you have changed since the day you activated the device, and all content contained in the device’s memory will be irretrievably lost. You need to use a factory reset because the error in the Play Market occurs due to problems caused by the operating system. The system, in turn, does not work correctly due to changes made to it using changed settings and installed applications. Before you start resetting, be sure to download all important information, stored on your phone or tablet, to another medium, and also remove the SIM card and memory card from the device so that they are not accidentally damaged during the reset process.

Features of eliminating errors for different versions of Android

There is another reason why an error with one of the above numbers may occur - an outdated firmware version, or too old model phone. If for the second reason there is only one solution - buy a new device that will support the application you want, then for the first reason there is another solution - updating the software.

So, if an error appears in the Play Market with code 400, 404, 406, 409, 410, 420, 481, 489, 490, 491, 492, 495, 497, 498, then you need to fix it yourself. This can be done using the following methods: restart the device, set up an Internet connection, stop all applications associated with Google Play, clear their cache and data, and update the firmware version. But the only thing that will definitely help you is resetting the settings and content, since with factory settings the application cannot crash.

Since 2008 for Android users An online application store called Play Market is available. It is really convenient: many applications are free, paid ones usually do not cost much, and applications downloaded from there can be updated automatically. Moreover, all Android devices support this store, so you can download applications from it on both phones and tablets. But sometimes when downloading or launching the Play Store, error codes 491, 492, 495, 497 and others may appear, preventing adequate downloading or updating of programs. It’s especially annoying if these errors appear when you have limited time and are downloading a very necessary application. In fact, there is no need to worry in such a situation: most possible problems easily eliminated on their own.

How to identify Play Market errors on Android

If an error is found in the Play Market, operating system will let you know about it immediately. The notification comes in the form of a window where the error code is indicated.

This is what the error message looks like

The numeric code in parentheses identifies the problem. Knowing what a particular error code means, you can identify the source of the problem and, if possible, eliminate it.

Error 406

Often this problem is accompanied by the message “the application cannot be installed.” It can be fixed in the following way: clearing the Play Market cache and deleting its updates.

  • After clearing the cache, disable the current account
  • After disabling synchronization, you should restart your device, synchronize your account again and try downloading the application again.
    Through the “Applications” tab in Settings, we erase data and delete the Play Market cache by clicking the buttons of the same name
  • Error 409

    Often appears when the application download is almost complete. We solve the problem by clearing the Play Market cache, disabling the account and rebooting the device. After him restart and synchronization of used Play account Market should work.

    Error 481

    This type of error is related directly to the account from which the activity occurs. The reasons may be different, but what interests us is a quick and easy solution to the problem itself. This is done as follows:

  • In the settings in the “Accounts” menu, select your account.
  • Click and select “Delete”.
  • Reboot your smartphone and go to “Accounts”.
  • Re-add your account there.
  • Error 489

    This problem is different from the others in that it is usually not caused by the device or the amount of memory. It can appear in two cases: if there are problems with the Internet and if the account recognition is inaccurate:

  • in the first case, it is enough to change the type of Internet connection. If you used Wi-Fi before, try switching to mobile Internet and vice versa. You can try switching to another connection point;
  • If switching Wi-Fi to mobile Internet does not help, you can try switching to another connection point via Settings => Network => APN

  • In order to solve the Google account recognition error, just delete it and add it again. After that we clean Play data Market, add your account again and try to download the application again. These actions are enough to “cure” the error.
  • Error 490

    If your smartphone notifies you of error 490, there is most likely a problem with network connection devices. Besides this, possible reason there may be incompatibility of the downloaded application with the device or a failure of the services responsible for downloading it. The main options for resolving this problem are as follows: firstly, you can switch from Wi-Fi to mobile Internet or vice versa. If the device produces this error again, clear the Play Market cache and Google services Play. It still gives an error, even after the actions taken - we delete the account, reboot the device and add the account again.

    If after all the steps taken the error is still not resolved, it makes sense to check recently installed applications. If, after downloading one of them, error 490 begins to appear systematically, you should delete the application.

    If the error appeared recently, it is likely related to one of the recently downloaded applications. Remove it to troubleshoot

    Error 491

    The essence of this failure is that the application is not downloaded or updated. You can fix it by deleting the account from which the download is made and clearing the Play Market application data.

  • The account is deleted through the device settings.
  • After deleting the account, the device must be rebooted.
  • After the reboot, log into your account again, open “Applications” in the settings and select “Google Play Services”. Our task is to delete all application data.
  • In the “Manage Place” tab, delete all application data.
  • After that, go to the Play Market again. Error 491 should no longer occur.
  • Click the “Delete all data” button

    Error 492

    The reason for this problem, like many related to the Play Market, lies in the overcrowding of the cache. This is done through “Settings” => “Applications”. After clearing the Play Market cache and services Google problem must disappear. However, there is a possibility that even after clearing the cache, the device will display the same error.
    In this case, you need to dig deeper. This problem is usually associated with the so-called Dalvik cache. To clean it, we go into recovery mode (for most smartphones this is done by turning it off and then simultaneously pressing the volume up button, the power button and the Home button). The menu that appears on the screen is the recovery mode of the device. To clear the cache you need to select Wipe cache partition and confirm your choice. In this mode, the transition between menu items is carried out using the “Volume up” - “Volume down” buttons, and confirmation of the choice is done with the power key.

    Video: clearing Dalvik cache

    Error 495

    This error can be seen when downloading programs or when updating them. This type of problem must be dealt with radically. To correct this error, you need to delete Play Market data through the application settings and delete the account from which the download or update is taking place. We reboot the device, log into your account again and download the application again - in this case it should be saved without problems.

    Error 497

    This usually occurs when there are problems updating applications already installed on the device. The simplest solution, typical for most Play errors Market - cleaning Memory Play Market and Google services. If it doesn't help, you can try disabling the memory card in the settings and updating the application again. As a rule, this is enough to correct the error.

  • You can disable the memory card through Settings. To disable the memory card in Settings, select the “Memory” tab
  • In the “Memory” tab, scroll down.

  • Select to disable the memory card.

  • Confirm your choice. Location of memory card data.
    Confirm the shutdown
  • Error 498

    This error occurs while downloading an application from the Play Market. This can happen either because the device has insufficient memory or because the cache is full. Accordingly, the problem can be “treated” either by removing unnecessary files and programs with internal memory device (in the first case), or by clearing the cache. This is done in the application settings. It is worth clearing the cache for browsers, Play Market and games that have Internet access.

    The cache is cleared by clicking the “Clear cache” button

    General solutions to most Play Market errors

    Most of possible problems problems associated with the Play Market can be fixed in several similar ways. This:

  • clearing the Play Market cache and Google services;
  • deleting a valid Google account and adding it again after rebooting the device;
  • switching from Wi-Fi to mobile Internet or vice versa;
  • in case of slow mobile internet- APN change;
  • disconnecting the memory card;
  • clearing Dalvik cache through recovery mode.
  • Moreover, for different versions Android circuit actions remains the same.
