Useful functions of modern washing machines. Modes and functionality of washing machines

Literally "overgrown" with a huge number of various service functions. The abundance of bright labels with the names of many tempting opportunities literally dazzle. How to understand all this? We will try to help you.

First of all, it should be understood that the washing technology has remained the same, humanity has not yet invented anything fundamentally new. do exactly what laundresses have always done - they soak and wash, rinse and wring.

All this is true, but times have changed, and today we are trying to save every minute. No one needs a machine, near which one must constantly stand in order to monitor the washing and manually control it. People strive to make the washing process as convenient as possible and, as much as possible, to automate it. We will try to tell you about the most common ones.
Foam control. Suppose you miscalculated and filled in too much powder. In this case, too much foam forms inside the machine, which can damage the electronics. The unit equipped with this function drains the foam water itself and then reclaims clean water. In addition, the presence of foam is monitored before each spin in order to improve the rinsing quality of the laundry.
Facilitate ironing. (can be referred to as imbalance control). This function periodically pauses the washing, then makes several smooth reversing movements of the drum and then continues to wash. This ensures a more even distribution of the laundry before spinning. As a result, when spinning at high speed, the machine “shakes” less and the laundry does not twist.
Additional rinse. It is used when it is important to ensure that possible detergent residues are removed. In this case, the machine carries out another additional rinse before spinning.

Half load mode. One of the most useful features. Most often, you need to wash a relatively small amount of things. In this case, this function can significantly save water and energy consumption, as well as reduce the total washing time.

Additional soaking. It is used for washing heavily soiled items. In this mode, the machine rinses the laundry once before starting the main program. When the powder gets on a soaked garment, it penetrates deeper into the fibers of the fabric and can cope with more stubborn dirt.
Leakage protection system (aka Aqua-Stop). This system avoids leaks not only inside the machine itself, but also in the inlet hose. When the “Aqua-Stop” system is triggered, the pump that pumps out the leaked water is automatically turned on in the working chamber.

Cooling water after washing. In the event that a specific washing program provides for heating the water above a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius, the water in the tub will be pre-cooled before the first rinse. This is achieved by pumping some cold water. This function is necessary in order to reduce the concentration of detergents in the water before rinsing and to minimize creasing of fabrics.

Handwash. Among the large number of different washing programs provided by the manufacturer, there are only a few that are really useful, and the “hand wash” program is one of them. It is intended for washing expensive and “delicate” wool and silk items, which are generally not intended for washing in a machine. This mode uses a large amount of water, allowing the detergent to dissolve better for a more delicate effect on the fabric. Washing is carried out with smooth movements of the drum, the rotation speed of which is much lower than in normal modes. The pause between spins increases to 1 minute, while the drum accelerates very slowly. As a result, we get a unique opportunity to take good care of even things labeled “hand wash only”.

Delicate wash. This function is generally similar to the previous one. Spinning in a centrifuge in this mode is most often not provided.

Quick wash. Another very useful program that allows you to quickly "drive away" lightly soiled laundry. The washing time is only about 30 minutes. This is very convenient for training clothes, for example. The author of this article uses this program to "freshen up" his kimono after a daily workout.

Adjustable spin. On many machines, it is possible to smoothly or stepwise change the spin speed within a fairly wide range. This can be useful, for example, if the laundry is too damp or, on the contrary, the machine shakes violently at a high spin speed.

Protection from children. The purpose of this function is clear. When it is turned on, the ability to open the door and press all buttons on the control panel is blocked. This will help protect both the child and the car itself. However, it should be borne in mind that modern children from 2-2.5 years old will be able to disable protection.

Delayed start timer. This is a very convenient feature that allows you to program the start of a wash within the next 24 hours. You need to turn on the machine, open the filling valve (if any), load it with linen and add powder. At a convenient time for you, it will turn on and do all the work on its own. Useful if you want to save on electricity (nightly electricity bills are lower than daily) or if you want your laundry to be washed on arrival and not "sour" in the washing machine. Or you just don't want to listen to the sound of her work right now.

Self-diagnosis. Machines equipped with a display can show not only various information about the wash, but also the code of the malfunction that has occurred. In some cases, this makes it possible to independently eliminate the problem that has arisen, then you will save time and nerves.

A sound signal promptly informs about the end of the wash. This is a small thing, but convenient.

Turbo drying. In models of machines equipped with a dryer, a system can be used that provides quick and effective drying of the washed laundry using heated dry air. The process of such drying ends with a separate phase of cooling and loosening of the dried items, so that the laundry does not turn out too lump crumpled.

Washing machines with ceramic heater... It means that an additional protective coating on the heating element (heating element) will protect it from scale formation. We believe that most likely we are talking about slowing down the process. Because if a thin film of scale appears on the surface of the heating element, then the process of its growth will be just as fast.

If you live in an area with hard water or think that the water in your house does not meet the generally accepted European standards for which all washing machines are designed, the presence of a ceramic heating element in the washing machine will be an important plus, which you should definitely pay attention to when buying ...

If the car has already been purchased or you liked the model without “ceramics”, we recommend installing the “Hydroflow” anti-scale device. It will protect the washing machine from the harsh domestic reality and you will not have to spend a lot of money again on expensive repairs or the purchase of a new unit.

Useful functions and modes of washing machines: what's what

Of course, when choosing a washing machine, the first thing to do is to pay attention to its main characteristics. We have already described in detail what it is in the corresponding article. In the same place, in a separate section, it was mentioned about the noise level standard for modern devices.

The second thing that you should pay attention to when is, of course, the programs and functions that it has. How often do we buy a device with 24 modes, most of which turn out to be useless in practice. But now you will know which programs will come in handy, and which ones will simply be an extra burden on your wallet (after all, do not forget, each extra function is plus a few hundred rubles to the price of the device).

Main programs

By selecting one of the programs on the electronic control panel of the washing machine, you can set the number of revolutions per minute, the number of rinses and the required washing temperature. At the same time, the device makes sure that the settings correspond to the optimal ones for the type of fabric that you have chosen, and in the event of a significant error (which can lead to insufficient washing quality or mechanical damage to the laundry), makes the required adjustments.

In modern washing machines, only three or four basic programs are laid, the same for all models and designed for specific types of fabric, as well as several optional, additional modes that differ depending on the manufacturer, price and dimensions of the product. The four main programs may have different names, but the principle is the same:

  • washing woolen products at water temperatures up to 40 ° С;
  • washing linen made of delicate, thin fabrics at temperatures up to 40 ° C;
  • washing of colored and synthetic products, temperature - up to 60 ° С;
  • washing of cotton and linen clothes, the recommended temperature is up to 95 ° С.

Owners of expensive, advanced models with a choice of modes, as a rule, do not have to bother at all. For example, washing machines have the intelligent 6th Sense technology and are equipped with sensors that detect the weight of the loaded laundry. The owner of such a device only needs to select the type of fabric, and the display will show information about the washing temperature set in the machine for these conditions, the drum rotation frequency and the estimated time that the washing process will require.

Electronic control panel of the washing machine (pay attention to temperature conditions and values of revolutions per minute - rpm)

But to achieve effective, high-quality and economical washing of laundry in most appliances from the budget and mid-range price range, some knowledge is still required from you. We talked about the many subtleties in the article, but you can read about what modes are intended for what right now.

Additional programs

It is they that allow the user to choose the type of washing that is optimal for his conditions, clean well clothes made of special fabrics or fabrics with special care requirements, prevent jams, wash extremely dirty clothes, or, on the contrary, just refresh sufficiently clean clothes. It is the additional modes that allow zealous housewives to minimize the cost of detergents. However, each new function, of course, also increases the price of the washing machine, so there is a double-edged sword, as always, and you need to choose a device based only on the presence of the most necessary programs in it, regardless of their total number.

What programs tend to be useful? Well, it's simple.

"Prewash"- needed for particularly dirty laundry. Before the actual washing process, your clothes will be kept in the detergent solution for about two hours at a temperature of 30 ° C. This will help the dirt to separate more easily, and then there will be no need to exert a strong mechanical effect on the fabric, which can damage it.

"Intensive wash"- on the contrary, it allows you to remove old stains (for example, from fruit or from wine) rather quickly, without wasting time. For this, the laundry is washed at a higher temperature and a higher drum rotation speed. You can use bleaching or stain removers. Of course, things don't like this kind of treatment.

"Quick wash"- despite the similar name with the previous program, it is responsible for washing not particularly dirty laundry. It is mainly used to freshen and rinse clothes. It saves up to 40% of the time - and this is the only thing for which this mode may be required. There are no other advantages, and energy consumption, in terms of the quality of washing, turns out to be quite significant.

"Handwash"- used for gentle and gentle cleaning of the fabric. The machine washes even more neatly than can be done by hand: the drum only shakes slightly and makes long pauses between revolutions, with minimal mechanical impact on your laundry. This mode is sometimes referred to as the “Delicates program”.

Washing machine icons: anti-crease, extra rinse and quick wash

"Daily wash"- designed to freshen up clothes after a long day at work. The drum is loaded by about half, and the clothes are washed for no more than 40 minutes at a temperature of 30 ° C. The mode is very similar to the "quick wash", often it is the same button on the device.

"Economical wash"- performed at low temperature and low drum rotation speed. This increases the washing time, but saves energy, water and detergents.

"Extra rinse"- a program that includes a second rinse cycle, which allows you to freshen up the laundry and wash out the remaining detergent from it.

"Multiple rinse"- mode of 3-, 4- or 5-fold rinsing, after which even the smallest traces of washing powder will not remain on clean laundry.

"More water"- a program designed primarily for heavily soiled and delicate laundry. It also removes powder residues and rinses thoroughly. In the "extended" version, it is called "Washing in a large amount of water" (of course, on the machine itself, the mode can be named differently or even left unnamed; it can be denoted by a simple pictogram with the image of splashing liquid).

"Eco wash" or "Bioenzyme phase"- designed for laundry with a significant level of dirt. At the same time, modern biological type detergents are used, containing enzymes (protein molecules, bioenzymes - see). Microorganisms "eat" dirt, due to which your clothes are well cleaned even at washing temperatures of 35-50 ° C. The fabric does not deteriorate either from the enormous heat inside the tank, or from too active rotation of the drum. However, such detergents can also be used in a conventional washing machine that does not have a "bioenzyme phase" - you just need not to set the temperature above 50 ° C (if it gets hot inside the tank, the enzymes will simply die). So the usefulness of the "eco-washing" mode in the device is in great doubt, and you can not pay special attention to its presence (or absence).

But, in case you want to use washing powders with these bioadditives, you should know about the types of enzymes. This can be useful for efficient washing of laundry with organic stains: sweat, grease, vegetable stains, coffee, sauce or blood stains. In order to choose the right detergent, it should be understood that:

  • breaks down protein contamination protease;
  • breaks down carbohydrate pollution amylase;
  • breaks down fats lipase;
  • prevents the formation of pellets cellulase.

Not all powders contain all these types of enzymes, so carefully read the information on the packaging before buying such a product.

Mode switch on the washing machine

"Wool washing" or "Soft wool"- a program that allows you to wash wool products with the highest quality and efficiency without damaging the delicate structure of the fabric. The drum rotates smoothly at a low speed (36-80 rpm), the temperature and amount of water that are optimal for the wool are set. If this program is present in the washing machine, then you do not have to worry about the fact that woolen products will shrink or fade.

"Anti-crease" or "Easy ironing"- this is a spin mode in which the drum rotates at a very low speed - only about 30 rpm, with long pauses between revolutions. This ensures that the laundry is not jaded and makes it easier for you to iron the laundry after washing.

Additional functions

"Bubble wash"... It is found only in special washing machines that are equipped with an air bubble generator. These bubbles easily pass through the layers of fabric and gradually remove impurities. In this case, the drum does not rotate, because the laundry is practically not worn out during the washing process. However, there are also disadvantages. Firstly, the quality of such a wash is not very high, and you cannot clean especially difficult dirt in this way. Secondly, machines with a bubble wash function, as a rule, need to be connected to both cold and hot water at the same time, because they are not capable of heating the water themselves. Thirdly, returning to the topic that has already been touched on in, for such devices it is imperative to purchase a filter that softens the water, because hard water foams rather weakly and less bubbles will be generated than necessary.

"Imbalance control system" or "Balancing control system" determines the uniformity of the distribution of the weight of the laundry in the drum and, if a discrepancy is found, tries to eliminate this imbalance: the motor starts reverse rotation. If the optimal position of things inside the device cannot be achieved, the engine starts to work again as usual, but at a reduced speed. This system is also one of the mandatory in the latest generation devices. If the user is not accustomed to properly load the laundry into the drum, then thanks to it, it is possible to reduce the level of vibration and noise of the washing machine, to achieve less wear on bearings, drive belts and other internal components of the device.

"Drying"... A special function that is responsible for drying the laundry after washing. The internal heating element of the machine generates heat, and the built-in fan creates a stream of warm air that "permeates" the fabric and removes moisture particles from it. Each type of laundry has its own drying level.

"Start Timer" or "Delay on"... Present in all washing machines except the oldest or the cheapest. A convenient function thanks to which you can set the appliance to wash at night or during your absence. The maximum delay time is 3 to 24 hours, depending on the specific model.

"Drainage" is a system for removing the detergent solution from the device without the need to rotate the drum. Saves machine resource.

"Self-cleaning pump"- a function that is also present in almost all modern washing machines. If it is available, it means that the user is no longer required to check every few months if the filter is not clogged. And given the fact that many Russians do not bother themselves with such an occupation at all, this function also allows you to increase the life of the device.

"Foam control system"... It is necessary for the machine to be able to effectively rinse the laundry using as little water, electricity and detergent as possible. This can be achieved by flushing as much washing powder out of the spaces between the fabrics as possible. As with hand washing, the laundry must be wrung out between rinses. However, during the wringing process, foam forms, which coats the fabric and impairs the rinsing result. So, in devices with a foam control function, there is a special sensor that monitors the amount of foam formed. If it exceeds the permissible rate, the pump of the machine pumps out excess foam from the drum, thereby increasing the quality of rinsing - albeit spending a certain amount of energy for this.

The modern washing machine can easily wash both bedding and baby clothes, as well as silk dresses, woolen sweaters, sportswear or curtains. It is only important to turn on the correct washing mode or select certain functions.

Basic modes

Different models of machines differ in a different list of modes and functions, but some modes are found in almost all devices. They can be selected both in Bosch and Zanussi typewriters, as well as in models from Samsung, LG and other manufacturers. These include:

  1. Cotton wash. This mode can be called the most common, as you will see it in almost any automatic machine. This mode is used to wash heavily soiled cotton items and bed linen. Usually, such washing involves heating water up to + 950C, but there are programs for washing cotton and with a lower temperature. Spin on this program is set to the maximum number of revolutions that your model of machine allows.
  2. Synthetics washing. This program is also very common and is used for synthetic fabrics and mixed laundry. Water heating for this program is usually carried out up to + 60C. Washing in this mode is quite long, and the available maximum speed is used for spinning.
  3. Hand wash. Such a common mode is chosen for washing clothes made from delicate fabrics that require gentle care. Tulle is often washed in this program. Typically, hand wash water is heated to +300 or +400. The rotation of the drum in this mode is slow and accurate, but there is no spin.
  4. Delicate wash. Like the previous mode, this wash is indicated for delicate fabrics that need careful handling, but the main difference will be the presence of a spin with a low speed in the program.
  5. Wool washing. This program is typical for most machines and is intended for wool items. This mode provides a gentle wash with a slight heating of the water and no spin.
  6. Daily wash. This program is intended for relatively quick (its average duration is from 40 to 60 minutes) cleaning not too dirty clothes. During such washing, water heats up to +300 or +400, and it is not recommended to load the machine completely with laundry.
  7. Quick wash. The program with a short wash cycle is present in almost all machines and can be called by different names, for example "Super fast wash", "Fast 15", "Fast 29", "Express 15" and so on. This mode is chosen for lightly soiled clothes that need to be washed quickly. The duration of such a program is up to 30 minutes, the water heats up to +300 or +400, and the maximum speed is set for spinning.
  8. Intensive wash. The main purpose of this mode is to wash very dirty clothes. Since water is usually heated in such a program to high temperatures (+ 60 + 90C), such washing is not recommended for delicate fabrics. The duration of this program is from 90 to 120 minutes.
  9. Pre-wash. This mode is two consecutive washings, therefore, put two portions of detergent in different compartments into the powder dispenser. The program is used for very dirty laundry with stains that have eaten in and will not be able to wash off in normal modes.

See the instruction manual for the icons.

Additional modes

In addition to the standard and most common modes in some models of washing machines, you can find the following additional modes:

  • Drying. You can dry things only in washing machines that provide this additional mode. Drying can be gentle, which means that the laundry will be slightly shaken during the program to prevent creasing. Also, some machines provide the possibility of accelerated drying, but this program is recommended only for drying heat-resistant materials.
  • Economical wash. The main features of such a program are lower water consumption and minimal heating, which also leads to lower electricity consumption. In some typewriters, this program is called "eco". Washing lasts about 50-60 minutes, and the water heats up to + 40C.
  • Cold wash. The program is used for washing fabrics that can be damaged by heating. Usually, this mode is chosen for items that need to be washed by hand or for delicate synthetic materials.
  • Soak wash. This additional program is designed to remove stains and stubborn dirt. The laundry loaded into the machine remains in water for some time, and then the washing mode is switched on with a temperature of + 40C. In total, such a wash takes from 60 to 120 minutes.
  • Washing curtains. This mode includes a pre-wash and is used for curtains and curtains.
  • Jeans washing. This program is used to wash denim and jeans, as well as dark textiles.
  • Silk washing. This program is suitable for washing silk and synthetic blended garments.
  • Washing blankets. This program can be used to wash different types of bedspreads and blankets.
  • Bio-care. This mode involves the use of detergents with enzymes. As they break down at high temperatures, the program sets a lower wash temperature.
  • Washing of children's clothes. The peculiarities of this mode are high temperature and additional rinsing. As a result, the child's clothes will be completely cleaned of both traces of detergents and stains.
  • Laundry of sports items. This program will help you wash your sportswear and shoes. In some machines, it is presented in several modes, depending on the level of pollution.
  • Shirts washing. Some machines have special programs for washing shirts and business clothes.
  • Night wash. This program provides for the quiet operation of the machine and no final spin. After the end of washing, the device does not emit a signal, but simply turns off.

All clothes have badges telling about the care of the thing. They must be taken into account when choosing a washing mode.

Main functions

For better washing in most washing machines, it is possible to select additional functions, which include:

  • Spin. Using this function allows you to separately spin the laundry at the speed you want.
  • Draining. The use of this function is shown in situations where you need to drain the water from the machine, but you do not need to rinse or wring out the laundry.
  • Facilitate ironing. A similar function, present in many machines, will allow you to get not too wrinkled after washing. A feature of the machine when this function is turned on will skip the intermediate spin and use a slightly larger volume of water for rinsing.
  • Thanks to this function, you can save on washing in situations when there is not too much laundry accumulated, but you need to wash it urgently. Once the machine is loaded by half with this function activated, the wash duration will be shortened.
  • Delayed inclusion. This function is especially valuable for busy people, as it allows you to load laundry and detergent, and set the start of the program at a selected time. Usually this function is used to get the laundry washed in the morning or when you return from work.
  • Rinse delay. This function is in demand in situations where it is impossible to take things out of the machine immediately after washing. Enabling this function will retain water inside the device until the owner of the equipment turns on the drain or spin.
  • Additional rinse. When this function is enabled, another rinse will be added to your wash cycle. Such a function is useful for allergy sufferers or parents of small children, as it will allow better cleaning of clothes from the remnants of detergents.
  • Rinse with drain. Separate activation of this function allows you to rinse any clothes, and then wring them out.
  • Disable spin. The use of such a function is relevant for things that can be damaged during the spinning process. The machine will skip spinning and finish the program without spinning.
  • Water level control. In the presence of such a function and its activation, the device will determine the amount of laundry in the tub, and then fill the tub with water in the required amount, thanks to which the water will be consumed more economically.
  • Protection from children. The inclusion of such a function will be an obstacle to opening the machine during the wash process.

  • In order for the machine to please with its work and wash the laundry well, you should sort the clothes correctly, dividing them by the type of fabric, as well as by the level of pollution.
  • Before loading things into the machine, be sure to look into your pockets to prevent coins, keys and other items from getting inside the tank.
  • Zippers and buttons on clothes should be fastened before washing.
  • Turn knitwear and terry clothes inside out before washing.
  • It is recommended to shake duvet covers and pillowcases before loading into the machine.
  • Do not overload the tank with too much clothing. Fill the machine evenly, observing the manufacturer's recommended loading rates.
  • The detergent should be poured into a suitable compartment and using the dosage recommended by the manufacturer. Failure to comply with this rule will affect the quality of the wash and the wear of the machine.

For information on what to consider when choosing a washing machine, see the video of the "Eldorado" channel.

"Four kilograms is enough for me, if only it is narrow." The result of an incorrect calculation of the load is a breakdown of the machine as a result of overload. The family can grow, the number of things can increase - after all, a washing machine is not bought for a year or two. In addition, completely different loading rules apply for wool, jackets with down and padding polyester, terry dressing gowns and towels, since these things and materials strongly absorb water and become very heavy (for example, if you can put 3.5 kg of ordinary linen in the machine, then wool - only 700-800 g). Now there is a fairly large selection of narrow models with a large load. For allergy sufferers, a small load is not at all suitable, because they often need to wash pillows and blankets, and this requires a load of at least 5-6 kg.

Don't overload her

The pursuit of maximum programs and functions

As a rule, we use three or four programs, the remaining twenty will remain dead weight, for which, however, it has been paid. There are just frankly advertising marketing programs - no sense from them, they are called loudly - for example, "removal of allergens." In fact, in case of allergies, it is enough to use a liquid hypoallergenic or baby detergent, which is easier to wash out than a powder, and include an additional rinse (this is a useful program).

Or "program for black" - just a low-temperature mode, and for washing black things it is useful to use special detergents for black - they do not contain optical brighteners, due to which "gray hair" appears on black.

A very controversial thing is the "stain removal program": most often this is the name for direct injection of detergent onto the laundry and very intensive rotation of the drum so that stains are removed due to intense friction. To remove stains from proteins, fats and carbohydrates, it is much more useful to use enzyme powders and the presence in the main washing programs of a bio-phase, when the temperature is kept at about 40 degrees for 15-20 minutes, so that the enzymes can do their job and eat the stains (and then you can and continue to heat).

WoolMark certificate is usually placed on the control panel

The most necessary programs, in addition to the standard ones, are short wash programs (there are modes from 12-14 minutes), programs for refreshing with steam or ozone (for things that you will not take to dry cleaning after each wear), programs for washing wool, certified by the WoolMark Institute (guarantee that even pure cashmere will be washed very carefully and retain its shape), programs (or functions at the end of each program) for ironing out the laundry. This means either simply shaking the laundry in the drum (less effective, but better than nothing), or steam ironing is more effective, provided that the machine is not overloaded. Of course, this is not ironing - just preparation for it. A useful function is night mode, when the machine does not spin, but only washes. In the morning, you need to turn on the spin manually.

Refusal from a tumble dryer, although finances allow

“I had to buy with drying, I’ll have to take a new car” - you hear this more and more often from people who have become parents (yes, they did not plan a year ago); from those who worked remotely, but now work in the office and must wash and dry things more often; from those who realized that there is nowhere to dry and a clothes dryer in the room spoils the interior and takes up space. Yes, washer-dryers are more expensive, but now they have penetrated into the middle and economy segments, and by the way, narrow (well, relatively narrow) dryers have appeared. Their depth is 44-45 cm, manufacturers are LG, Samsung, Candy.

Drying can come in handy

Inconvenient interface

Buying a car blindly on the net is a dangerous thing, because in the pictures it is not very clear whether it will be convenient to operate it, and making friends with the programmer and the display is very important: it depends on whether you wash your favorite sweater in the wrong program, not use your knee to turn off the washing machine under the sink, etc. The presence of a display is a great thing, here it should be borne in mind that a text display is more informative than a digital one.

The interface should speak Russian or be intuitive

Ignoring all levels of security

Protection against leaks - full (hoses and housing) or partial (one or the other) - is available in every modern machine: these are sensors that turn off the water supply in certain cases. It is better if the protection is complete - this is understandable.

Protection against voltage surges in the network is equally important (the machine turns off when there are sudden changes). If there is no such protection, it is better to immediately buy a voltage control relay, especially if the car is planned to be operated outside the city, because there are voltage surges - almost the norm.

And the third point is the child lock, the presence of which is strictly required if there are kids in the house.

No delayed start timer

“Why do I need him? When necessary, then I will wash ”. Well, for example, to save on nightly electricity rates. You can, of course, just turn on the car at night, but in the evening, in a state of fatigue, it is so easy to forget about it. It is more convenient to schedule a night wash during the day.

Ignoring smart technology

Modern models have many “smart” features that make life easier for the user, extend the life of the machine and help save water and electricity. Among them are brushless inverter motors (all manufacturers give them a 10-year warranty, there is almost nothing to break down, in addition, inverter machines are very quiet); automatic weighing of the laundry (based on this, the machine calculates the amount of water, the duration of the washing program, the number of revolutions during spinning); imbalance control (if the laundry gets knocked into a lump, the drum makes short multidirectional rotations, trying to redistribute the laundry).

In models of new generation washing machines there are only 3 - 4 basic programs for different types of laundry and several additional ones, different in all models. By selecting one of the programs on the control panel, you set the temperature, the number of revolutions and rinses. At the same time, the electronic brain of the machine makes sure that your settings correspond to the type of tissue you have chosen, and in case of an error, makes the necessary adjustments. Basic usability is provided by 4 programs:

1. Washing of cotton and linen products at a temperature of about 95 C;
2. Washing synthetic and colored items at a temperature of about 60 C;
3. Washing delicate items from delicate fabrics at a temperature of about 40 C;
4. Wool wash at 40 C.

Additional modes and functions allow you to select the optimal washing mode for any type of laundry with varying degrees of soiling, prevent jams, and minimize detergent residues. But each additional feature increases the price of the car.

Owners of the most advanced models with a choice of programs are the easiest. For example, Whirlpool washing machines are equipped with a 6th Sense control system. The owner only needs to set the selector to the type of fabric that he is going to wash. On the display, he will read the washing temperature, drum rotation speed during spinning and the estimated washing time set by the machine for this type of fabric. However, most cars of the middle and budget price range still require some of the simplest knowledge from you.

Below are the most common additional modes and functions found in various washing machines.

Modes:

  • "AQUASTOP"- leakage protection system. Protection is achieved by a safety valve on the water tap and, inlet hose with automatic pressure relief
  • "FUZZY CONTROL"- an electronic system that monitors the washing process and individually adjusts the program depending on the type and amount of laundry. In addition, the Fuzzy Control system adjusts the water flow during rinsing according to the load. If an excessive amount of foam occurs during rinsing, the system activates an additional rinse cycle and, if necessary, changes the rhythm of the drum rotation. And finally, the Fuzzy Control system monitors the spinning process, recognizing the degree of imbalance (formation of lumps) of the laundry in the drum, and selects such a mode so that the laundry is constantly spinning at the maximum possible speed.
  • "FUZZY LOGIC"- electronic technology, providing for the control of parameters and operating modes of the washing machine. Fuzzy Logic determines the weight of the loaded laundry (as a function of the amount of water absorbed by the fabric); the result is compared with the values stored in the processor's memory; the predicted duration of the wash cycle is set. In addition, the system controls the drum rotation speed during washing and spinning, the washing temperature, the number of rinses, etc.
  • "Prewash"- used for heavily soiled laundry: before washing, the laundry is soaked in water with detergent for about 2 hours at a temperature of about 30 ° C.
  • "Handwash"- the machine washes more carefully and efficiently than can be done by hand, because the drum only sways and the mechanical effect on the laundry is minimal.
  • "Economical wash"- carried out at a lower temperature. The wash time is lengthened, but water, energy and detergents are saved.
  • "Quick wash"- shortening the washing cycle for lightly soiled laundry, saving time, water, energy and detergents by up to 30%.
  • "Daily wash"- assumes an incomplete load of the drum and the ability to wash clothes for no more than 40 minutes at a temperature of about 30 ° C (to "refresh" clothes after a working day).
  • "Heating up to 90 degrees"- allows you to wash heavily soiled items.
  • "Intensive wash"- for washing old stains at elevated temperatures and an extended cycle.
  • "Biophase"- allows you to use washing powders with bioenzymes and wash even very dirty laundry at a temperature of no more than 40 ° C.
  • "Eco-program"- for washing with enzyme powders at high temperatures provides excellent washing even very dirty items.
  • "Soft wool"- very gentle washing of woolen products by rotating the drum at a speed of up to 36 rpm.
  • "Removing stains"- used to remove stubborn stains at 40 ° C.
  • "More water"- for more thorough rinsing and washing of products, better removal of residues of washing powder.
  • "Extra rinse"- an additional rinse cycle to rinse out the remains of detergents.
  • "Repeated rinsing"- turns on the mode of 4 or 5 times rinsing, which does not even leave traces of detergents in clean laundry.
  • "Anti-crease"- specially calculated spin mode, which prevents linen jams and makes ironing much easier. At a drum rotation speed of about 30 rpm, the laundry sways in the drum for about 30 minutes. Spinning is carried out with long pauses and a gradual increase in speed.

    Functions:

  • "Delay on"- allows you to postpone the turn-on time of the machine to a convenient time for you (by 1 - 24 hours).
  • - used when there is not enough laundry for a full load. Washing is faster, the load on the machine is reduced, and the service life is increased.
  • "Direct injection of cleaning solution"- ensures the dissolution of 100% of the detergent, higher washing quality, energy and water savings.
  • "Eliminate excess foam"- in case of an error in the choice of washing powder or its overdose, it will stop the drum and drain the excess foamy water.
  • "Automatic water level control"- selects the optimal amount of water depending on the load and the rate at which the laundry gets wet. The water heats up faster, reducing washing time and energy consumption.
  • "Control of water transparency"- selects the number of rinses. If, after two rinses, the sensor detects that the water is clear enough, the third cycle is canceled.
  • "Controlling the balancing of laundry during spinning"- Provides almost complete damping of vibrations, which protects the machine from premature failure and significantly reduces noise. Spinning will not start until the laundry is evenly distributed throughout the drum.
  • "Regulation of the speed of rotation of the drum during spinning"- from high, for wringing out coarse fabrics, to low, non-spoiling fine delicate fabrics, allows you to rationally use the capabilities of the machine.
  • "Spin off"- allows you to lay out delicate items before the final spin and then squeeze them by hand, helps to preserve delicate fabrics.
  • "Self-diagnosis of malfunctions"- allows you to see on the display the reasons for the failure of the machine: the hatch door is open, the heater is faulty, there is no water supply, water overflow. LED indicators inform about ongoing processes and emerging deviations or malfunctions. The alarm alerts you to take action.
