What is offline mode? What is offline

Hello, dear readers of my blog! The topic of today's article will, in my opinion, be very useful for all people who spend a lot of time on social networks. And our topic, as can be seen from the title of the article, is “How to use VKontakte offline.” That is, to be on VK: watch the news, post something on your wall, talk to someone, but do it in such a way that everyone else thinks that you are offline.

Indeed, I think everyone will agree with me that there are situations when you urgently need to go to VK, say something to someone or watch something, but so that no one else sees you or bothers you.

So, today I will look at two ways: this is how to sit offline from a phone/tablet (android), and the second way is from a PC.

Method 1

As I said, in this option I will consider the method sit on VKontakte offline from a phone with Android OS. To do this we will need to download a free program called Kate Mobile. In my opinion, this program is much better than the official VKontakte application. It is constantly updated and has a beautiful and user-friendly interface. But I won’t talk about all its pros and cons, you can download and see for yourself...

Why exactly Kate Mobile? Yes, because it has a function offline. But first, let's figure out how to do everything.

I hope you have already downloaded it? If not, then download faster! So, downloaded, installed, launched... After launch, you will need to log into your account by entering your Email/phone and password in the required fields and click “Login”.

Here we can set up notifications, change the theme, set up news and much, much more... But the most important thing in our case is the invisibility settings. Go to the “Online” item, and then select “Be offline if possible.”

All! We have configured the application, and now, after some time, we will not appear online. To stay offline, you can write messages, listen to music and watch videos, share posts, and like. However, you cannot write your messages on the wall, because as soon as you write something on your wall, you will immediately become online.

By the way, in Kate Mobile you can log into several accounts at once and switch them in a few seconds. To do this, go to functions and there “Accounts” and add a new account. Here you can switch them.

So, the first method has been sorted out, I think there shouldn’t have been any difficulties. And if they still arise, write in the comments, we’ll sort it out!

  1. Open dialogue
  2. Visually read the messages, but do not click on the field to enter your message.
  3. Press the function key.
  4. Click on “Close Unread”.

P.S. When you first log into your account, you will be online.

Method 2

In order to use VKontakte offline from a PC, there is a special service APIdog.

It works exactly the same as the KateMobile application - via the VKontakte API. Therefore, in order to remain offline, you cannot publish posts on your wall.

Simply enter your login information and click the Login button. The last field, where “Android” is set by default, can not be changed, but left as it is.

By logging into your account, you will see your page with a design similar to the original VK. On the left there will be a menu with all the functions we need.

I also advise you to immediately go to the “Settings” item in the left menu and slightly configure the use of APIdog. Be sure to check the box next to “enable auto-update of dialogs (long-poll)”, click the “Save” and “Restart LongPoll” buttons. If you do not enable this feature, you will need to click the refresh button in dialogs to see sent/received messages. You can set the remaining settings as you wish. And don't forget to save them.

Well, that's all! If you want to add something or ask something, write in the comments. Also subscribe to updates so as not to miss all the new, interesting and useful articles.

For numerous questions on the topic “how to sit offline from an iPhone or Windows phone,” I post links to applications. I haven’t personally tested the applications, so I can’t say anything about them.

At the moment, invisible in VK works in a limited mode. To remain offline, you cannot update messages and news, as well as write personal messages and post posts to the wall.

/ Software

The main difference between these modes is the organization of interaction between the PC and the cash register. All the information below applies exclusively to the cash register of the AMC line and the cash register of Kasbi-02.

Online mode

When using this mode, several cash registers are connected to one PC. Software is installed on the PC, the main tasks of which include the following:

Storage of product database (prices, names, balance, etc.)
- processing requests from cash register machines (request for product details by code or bar code)
- registration of events occurring on the cash register (adding a purchase to the check buffer of the cash register, withdrawing a receipt, resetting a receipt, etc.)

The cashier, when using the “Online” mode, works on the cash register and makes sales according to the code (CC) of the product. When the cashier types a product code on the cash register keyboard or when reading the bar code of a product using a barcode scanner, an event for requesting a product by code is set in the cash register. The server software, when polling cash registers included in the cash register (computer cash register network), processes this event, i.e. searches the database for a product with the requested code/CC code and transmits information about the requested product (price, name, etc.) to the cash register. After the receipt is withdrawn/reset on the cash register, the PC registers this event and stores information about the receipt and the goods included in it.

Pros
- practically unlimited product base;
- the ability to quickly update details of goods and their balances;
- flexible configuration of the operating logic of the software servicing the CCS.

Cons
The entire network depends on the PC. When the PC stops (crashes, freezes), the entire system stops

Offline mode

This mode of operation involves the use of equipment that allows you to store a database of goods, upon request from the cash register, provide it with the details of the requested product and register sales made on the cash register. When using the AMS or Kasbi-02F line KKM, it is possible to use RShK devices or the internal KKM product database (only for AMS-200F and Kasbi-02F).

Before starting work, the nomenclature is loaded from the PC into the RShK (KKM) devices. The cashier works at the cash register and makes sales according to the code (CC) of the product. At the end of the shift (or at any other point in time), sales results are read from the devices, which are processed by the accounting system used.

Pros
-during operation there is no need for a constant connection to a PC (it is possible to use devices in remote locations where installing a PC is impossible or not profitable);
- all RShK devices have non-volatile memory and can be transferred from the cash register to a remote PC without loss of stored information;
- The stability of the system does not depend on the PC.

Cons
-limited size of the product database (the size of the database depends on the RShK or KKM model, which has a built-in product database);
- control of sales results is not carried out in real time;
- accounting is carried out on a cumulative basis, without monitoring product balances.

"Check Online" mode

When using this mode, the cashier, working on a PC, generates a list of goods selected for sale and indicates the details of the receipt (return sign, cash paid, discount/surcharge value, etc.), after which, by pressing predefined keys on the cash register keyboard, the cashier initiates a request from cash register to the PC about the contents of the generated list of goods. Having received the necessary information, the cash register places it in its check buffer and issues a check using its standard means.

Pros
The advantages are determined by the implementation of software for an automated cashier workstation.

Cons
- relatively high, compared to other operating modes, cost of a workplace (due to the need to use a PC at each workplace);
- the need to train cashiers in working with PCs and cash registers.

Spending some time on the Internet, any person sooner or later comes across the word “Offline” or its Russian interpretation “Offline”.

So what is offline? What is the meaning of this word, where and in what situations is it used?

Offline is the antipode of the word Online.

Literal translation of the word offline in Russian - “not on line”, “disconnected from the network”. In the vast majority of cases, this term means the absence of an Internet connection or the operation of any program without access to the network. It can also mean something that has nothing to do with the Internet.

In messengers:

Offline status in almost all Internet instant messengers (ICQ, Skype, Jabber...) and social networks. This status means that your interlocutor is currently absent from the network (or wants you to think that he is absent).

In games:

The concept of offline is also found in online games, in relation to players. In this case, the term has the same meaning as the case described above - the player is offline.

In relation to the games themselves, from a technical point of view, offline mode can mean launching the game without an Internet connection. Recently, game developers have been making it mandatory to connect the computer to the network when launching the game; thus, the developer attempts to verify the authenticity of a copy of your game by requesting certain data over the network at launch.

Owners of unlicensed copies or computers without Internet access are forced to look for offline versions of these games.

Also, the offline gaming mode may mean launching an exclusively network game in 1-player mode (for example, playing on your own Linage or World of WarCraft server alone, without access to the Internet)

Offline update of antivirus systems

Offline antivirus software update means updating the virus database without connecting to the network. Usually done by placing an already updated virus database file in a specific directory of the program installed on the hard drive.

GPS and navigation/geolocation services

Offline mode of GPS navigation programs means the implementation of the functions of such devices and services without an Internet connection.

In this case, navigators use the database of navigation maps that were saved during the previous connection to the network or were prudently downloaded by the user into a special maps folder located in the program directory. One of the main advantages of this offline mode is the lack of Internet traffic consumption while using navigation.

Which is especially critical, since such devices mainly consume mobile traffic (and it is very expensive)

Offline browsers:

A special browser that allows you to view pages, pre-saved local copies of web pages, and even download entire sites to your computer’s hard drive for later viewing of these sites/pages without connecting to the network.

The most popular offline browsers include:

  • Offline Explorer
  • Teleport Pro
  • WebCopier
  • HTTrack

Offline = in real life

Another popular slang option for using the word “Offline” is as opposed to being on the Internet, that is, in real life (“in real life”).

A-GPS (from English Assisted GPS) is a technology that helps speed up the “cold start” of a GPS receiver. A-GPS provides information through alternative communication channels (base stations of a cellular operator, for example) and helps to quickly and accurately determine the necessary coordinates. For the technology to work, the device needs Internet access. Mainly used in mobile phones equipped with a GPS receiver, as well as other gadgets that provide their owner with GPS navigation - car navigators, tablet computers, communicators, etc.

Most ordinary Internet users do not necessarily know what ping is. However, if you want to “enlighten yourself” a little more, we recommend reading this article. Ping is the time during which a packet of information sent by the client reaches the target (server) and receives a return response (server ← client). Currently, this metric is of interest mainly to players of network (online) games, since the quality directly depends on the Ping value...

Not long ago, Google announced a new formidable feature on YouTube. Now every user can easily watch your favorite videos without access to the global network.

This function is primarily aimed at expanding the audience of the service, so the new product was first announced in the Asian market, which was largely closed to media content…………..

Today, any user can watch videos on YouTube offline without any problems - the function is there, it works, so more on it later. ↓↓↓

Watching videos on YouTube without the Internet is not a myth, but a reality

It is difficult to imagine software that could contain the vast expanses of the Internet. In simple words, you won’t be able to watch any videos without access to the Internet.

Offline video viewing on YouTube is a utility that allows you to watch videos downloaded in advance.

That is, there is a program in which you can select videos, and, within the next 48 hours, you can watch them without access to the network.

In general, the function is not new, since users were already able to download the necessary video materials and watch an unlimited number of them without connecting to the network.

It’s just that YouTube specialists have greatly simplified this process, because now videos are loaded into a cache, which is periodically cleared, the utility automatically updates the video, and so on………………………..

The best methods for watching a video without access to the network

Now we will tell you how you can easily watch any videos, we will tell you in detail about the viewing function without connecting to the network, and so on. ↓↓↓

Method 1. Watching videos without the Internet on your computer

This method is suitable for those who create their own archive of YouTube videos.

There are no restrictions here, except perhaps the size of the hard drive on the computer.

Advantages :

  • you can download any number of videos;
  • no restrictions on views, etc.;
  • There is special software that automates the download processes.

Naturally, you will not watch the videos through the browser, but in the media player window.

The easiest way:

  • open your favorite video on YouTube;
  • copy the full URL;
  • go to the KipVid website and paste the address;
  • select the appropriate video format and save it to your computer;
  • wait for it to load - now you can watch the video.

At the moment, you can find special platinums online, as well as programs that completely automate this process. One of the most popular utilities is considered YouTube Downloader HD.

Just 3 simple steps are enough to download a boring video. Just copy the URL of the video into the appropriate field of the program, select the desired format and save to your computer

Method 2. Watching videos without a network through the application

Naturally, the function is mostly aimed at mobile users. So, you can avoid video breaks if the Internet signal is not stable!!!

→ We are talking about the utility iTube(for iOS) and play tube(for Android).

1. The idea is that you mark videos you like in advance.

2. They will download in the background if there is network access.

3. Access to offline viewing is maintained for up to 48 hours.

→ After this, the application will ask for access in order to update the information and, if the author has not blocked the video for offline viewing, then you can continue to enjoy the video.

How to watch YouTube without the Internet through the application:

  • you need to click on the icon " Download“, after which the video will be added for offline viewing;
  • In the application, open the tab “ Account" And " Offline mode«;
  • Now click on the video and enjoy watching.

P.S - Additional functions of the program for offline viewing of videos on YouTube:

  • to change the video quality, you need to go to the “Settings” - “Offline” - “Quality” section;
  • If you need to disable offline mode on YouTube, you need to go to the “Settings” - “Offline” section and uncheck the “Wi-Fi only” checkbox.

Please note that videos can be deleted either automatically or manually. Thus, you can watch almost any video offline.

This will allow you to create your own private archive of lessons, comedy videos, etc.

Internal memory largely depends on the modernity of the smartphone. In cheap options, when installing a large number of applications, it quickly runs out. This leads to deterioration in operating parameters.

Accordingly, the question arises of how to clear the internal memory. If this operation is not carried out, then at some point you may be unable to install the application.

The simplest and easiest way is to buy a memory card. But this method will not suit everyone:

  • Firstly, buying a larger memory card is a financial waste. Most smartphones support installing an external memory card. On average, it can be up to 32-64 GB. But even such storage devices can run out. Most often this is associated with storing multimedia content.
  • Secondly, not all smartphones have a microSD slot for memory expansion.

Removing unnecessary programs may help to some extent, but this will not change the situation qualitatively. After all, if you uninstall applications as standard, this does not guarantee that all files have been deleted from the system. All the same, absolutely all programs, after removal, leave some files on the system.

You will still have to clear memory/cache in Android.

Loading internal resources is associated with programs using the cache () folder. It stores temporary information that speeds up the loading of applications. But the cache is not always cleared automatically. It can accumulate temporary files, which, after a long time, can occupy very impressive volumes.

For example, if you view photos or videos online on VKontakte, Viber or Facebook, then everything you view is partially saved in temporary files and the system cache. Over time, you may find that the free memory of your smartphone is decreasing before your eyes.

To clean up this folder, the SecureIt application may be useful. In Lenovo smartphones it is built-in.

When you launch it, you need to go to the Acceleration section. In it, you can select a number of temporary files from various applications that you want to delete. All operations can be carried out automatically.

You can also clear memory by unloading unnecessary applications. If you are interested in how to clear internal memory, but this program is not there, then you can download and install an application with similar functionality, for example, Clean Master.

Thus, it was possible to delete almost 900 megabytes.

You can delete unnecessary files and use the program's advice. To do this, you need to go to “Advanced mode”. True, if you are not very knowledgeable, it is better not to look here...

Photos and videos taken with the built-in camera are stored on the internal memory. To prevent this from happening, you need to store them externally.

How to save multimedia content on an external card?

To prevent photos from being saved to internal memory, you need to change the Camera Storage settings. To do this, open them and change the phone parameter to SD. After this, you should exit and save the settings. If you don't have such a tab, then you can use a third-party application, such as DSLR Camera.
