How to disable web push notifications. How to disable browser push notifications

Hello, dear readers!

This technical article is primarily dedicated to all of you. To keep up with the times, in October 2016, I added to my website the ability to send pop-up push-up notifications for Chrome and Firefox browsers. To do this, I switched to a secure https connection, may Google and Yandex reward me with traffic.

What are Push-up notifications

Push-up notifications are short pop-up notifications that appear on the screen of a personal computer or smartphone, which report updates on the site and other important events. For example, you can use them to congratulate readers (subscribers), but not write a “congratulatory” article.

Initially, Push notifications appeared as a way for mobile applications to interact with users of smartphones and tablets. However, recently the technology of browser push notifications or web push has become very popular.

How to subscribe to a web push website

When you visit my website immediately or after a while, the following notification will appear on your browser screen. Click ALLOW

Or this notification (on a darkened screen)

You will immediately receive a subscription confirmation

Now you will receive such notifications as soon as a new article appears on my blog. Sometimes I make announcements of popular old articles - perhaps they will interest you too.

Three easy ways to disable Push notifications

For example, you became uninterested in receiving news from my website and decided to unsubscribe.

Two mouse clicks

It's simple! To do this, you can right-click on the next notification you receive and click TURN OFF NOTIFICATIONS

Two mouse clicks somewhere else

Site setup

If you do not want to wait for the next message, you can unsubscribe at any time in your browser settings on the site. To do this, click on the padlock in the address bar and go to the site settings

Then scroll through the settings to ALERTS and click “Configure exceptions”

Then REMOVE my site from notification exceptions

This way you will prevent the receipt of push notifications.

Push notifications on a smartphone

To unsubscribe from push notifications on your smartphone, click on the padlock in the address bar of your mobile browser. Next, click SITE SETTINGS

Click ALERTS

Click BLOCK

And the second option is to click CLEAR AND RESET

If you want to be the first to know about new articles, subscribe to PUSH notifications about my blog updates. If you suddenly get tired of receiving messages from me, you can unsubscribe at any time.

Repost the pinned post on my VKontakte page and receive .

Also here you can leave a review about my newsletter, what you liked and what you didn’t.

The emergence of push notification technology has made it possible to expand the communication capabilities of businesses with their customers and use new marketing approaches. For the recipient, push notifications have also become a useful tool for highlighting the necessary information, since subscription to such notifications is “conscious”, voluntary, and you can refuse irrelevant offers in 1 click.

For example, if a client wanted to buy a multicooker, then subscribing to push messages from an online equipment store was very important for him - in order to learn about new products and promotions in time, to receive a personal discount or an advantageous offer. However, after purchasing a product, interest in store updates may decrease significantly. Therefore, unsubscribing from push notifications is a completely natural process.

Of course, the sender of the newsletter can adhere to such an unobtrusive and useful information policy that clients will happily remain subscribers. And, on the contrary, the reason for unsubscribing may be sending messages too frequently or delivering irrelevant information.

One of the main advantages of push notifications is the ease of subscription, when one click is enough and there is no need to provide any additional data. Unsubscribing is also easy: as a rule, you just need to right-click on the notification (or click on the settings button in the message itself) and select the unsubscribe command.

However, not all push mailing services provide such a simple unsubscribe algorithm, so it is important for users to know how to easily and quickly unsubscribe from push notifications in the browser they use.

How to turn off notifications in Chrome browser?

More than 54% of Internet users in the world (according to StatCounter) prefer the Google Chrome browser. Please note that for sites with different protocols (unsecured http connection and secure https), the sequence of actions for unsubscribing will be different. You can find out the site protocol in the address bar of your browser. If there is a lock icon to the left of the url (in Chrome there is also a “Protected” sign) or the name of the organization), then this is a site with the https protocol. If there is no corresponding icon, use http.

And here is the easiest way to unsubscribe from push notifications from an https site in the Chrome browser at any time, without waiting for a new message to arrive:

Accordingly, to unsubscribe from notifications, just select “Always block on this site.” To reverse the action after blocking, you can click “Always allow on this site.”

To go to advanced settings for working with the site in your browser and unsubscribe from push notifications, follow the instructions below:

If you want to refuse notifications from all or several sites at once, or check the list of your push notification subscriptions, you need to follow this algorithm.

  1. Go to the browser control panel;
  2. Select the “Settings” item;
  3. In the settings window, select “Advanced”;
  4. From the drop-down list, select “Content Settings”;
  5. Next, click on the “Notifications” item;

  6. In the tab that opens we see a list of blocked sites, and below - those for which you have a subscription;
  7. From the list called “Allow” we select the sites from which we are going to unsubscribe;
  8. To the right of the site name, click “Block”.

This completes unsubscribing from push notifications in Chrome for https sites. The blocked site will appear in the list called “Block”, but its status can always be changed to another (“Allow” - “Change” - “Delete”).

Opting out of notifications from http sites

By default, subscription to push notifications from web resources with the http protocol is not supported by browsers for security reasons. However, experts offer owners of http sites the opportunity to connect push notifications through their subdomain on https (https://yoursite.site). Thus, subscribing to such push messages takes place in two clicks (first through a browser window on the site page, then in a window on the subdomain page).

Therefore, a standard unsubscribe in the browser line on an http site page is impossible. If we go to the settings of a specific web resource, as described above, we will see that the “Notifications” field is inactive.

But you can unsubscribe from receiving push notifications from such a site using the second algorithm through the general settings of the Chrome browser by following the link chrome://settings/content/notifications.

By analogy with the unsubscribe algorithm in Chrome, click on the lock icon, and in the “Permission to send notifications” line, click on the cross (“Remove this permission and ask again”).

Another option is to go to the site settings. In the same window, opposite the name of the web resource, click on the arrow and select “More details”.

In the window that opens, go to the “Permissions” tab and look at the “Send notifications” item.

Select the appropriate action: “Always ask”, “Allow”, “Block”.

If you need to check all the sites to which you have subscribed, go to your browser settings.

In the window that opens, on the left, select “Privacy and Security” and scroll through the settings to the “Permissions” section. Find the “Notifications” line and click on the “Options” button opposite.

In the parameters we see a list of sites whose push notifications we are subscribed to. To the right of each url there is an option to select an action - “Allow” or “Block”.

Also under the list of web resources there are buttons “Delete website” and “Delete all websites” in case you want to exclude the url for good. After making changes, click “Save Changes”. Here you can also refuse push messages from http sites (select a subdomain url).

This completes the process of unsubscribing from push notifications in Firefox.

Unsubscribing from push notifications in the Opera browser (using Windows 10 as an example)

Today you can unsubscribe from push notifications in Opera both through the url input line (“Page information” - similar to blocking notifications in Chrome) and in the browser settings.

How to disable push notifications in Safari (Mac/Windows)?

As you can see, the sequence of actions is similar to the previously given instructions for other browsers.

Unsubscribe from push messages in Android OS

All the algorithms described above concerned desktop versions of browsers for the Windows operating system (Mac for Safari). We now offer a guide on how to unsubscribe from notifications on Android mobile devices.

  1. Go to the browser menu on your smartphone;
  2. Select the “Settings” item;

Active Internet users know that when visiting various web resources, you can encounter at least two problems - annoying advertising and pop-up notifications. True, advertising banners are displayed contrary to our wishes, but everyone subscribes independently to constantly receive annoying push messages. But when there are too many of these notifications, it becomes necessary to turn them off, and this can be done quite easily in the browser.

On the one hand, push notifications are a very convenient function, as they allow you to stay up to date with various news and other information of interest. On the other hand, when they come from every second web resource, and you are busy with something that requires attention and concentration, these pop-up messages can quickly get boring, and their content will still be ignored. We'll tell you how to disable them on desktop and.

Google Chrome for PC

To disable notifications in the desktop version of the web browser, you will need to follow a few simple steps in the settings section.

For selective shutdown in part "Block" click the button "Add" and one by one enter the addresses of those web resources from which you definitely do not want to receive push notifications. But in part "Allow" On the contrary, you can specify so-called trusted websites, that is, those from which you would like to receive push messages.

Now you can exit Google Chrome settings and enjoy internet surfing without intrusive notifications and/or receive push notifications only from web portals of your choice. If you want to disable messages that appear when you first visit sites (invitations to sign up for a newsletter or something similar), do the following:

Once you have completed the required steps, the "Settings" can be closed. Now, if you receive push notifications in your browser, then only from those sites that are truly interesting to you.

Google Chrome for Android

You can also prevent the display of unwanted or intrusive push messages in the mobile version of the browser we are considering. To do this you will need to do the following:

  1. Having launched Google Chrome on your smartphone, go to the section "Settings" in exactly the same way as it is done on a PC.
  2. In the section "Additional" find the item "Site Settings".
  3. Then go to "Notifications".
  4. The active position of the toggle switch means that sites will ask for permission before they start sending you push messages. By deactivating it, you will disable both the request and notifications. In the section "Allowed" Sites that can send you push notifications will be shown. Unfortunately, unlike the desktop version of the web browser, there is no customization option here.
  5. After completing the necessary manipulations, go back a step by pressing the left-facing arrow located in the left corner of the window, or the corresponding button on your smartphone. Go to section "Pop-ups", which is located a little lower, and make sure that the switch opposite the item of the same name is deactivated.
  6. Go back a step again and scroll up the list of available parameters a little. In the section "Basic" select item "Notifications".
  7. Here you can fine-tune all messages sent by the browser (small pop-up windows when performing certain actions). You can enable/disable sound notifications for each of these notifications or completely prohibit their display. You can do this if you wish, but we still do not recommend it. The same notifications about downloading files or switching to incognito mode appear on the screen for literally a split second and disappear without creating any discomfort.
  8. Scrolling through the section "Notifications" Below you can see a list of sites that are allowed to display them. If the list contains those web resources from which you do not want to receive push notifications, simply deactivate the toggle switch next to its name.

That's all, you can close the mobile Google Chrome settings section. As was the case with its computer version, now you will not receive notifications at all or you will only see those sent from web resources that interest you.

Conclusion

As you can see, there is nothing difficult about disabling push notifications in Google Chrome. The good news is that this can be done not only on a computer, but also in the mobile version of the browser. If you use an iOS device, the instructions described above for Android will also work for you.

Sberbank has always strived and strives to improve its service so that its clients can use any available services and feel as comfortable as possible. A more interactive form of communication is push notifications, which allow you to work not only with computers, but also with mobile devices. Sberbank recently decided to introduce push notifications to Sberbank online.

Such messages do not depend on the operation of mobile operators or SIM cards; they are sent via cloud services. Users will always be able to receive them if they subscribe to them.

Sberbank's non-cash transfers have already become a standard throughout Russia. This is done everywhere and quite simply. The service, which was created in the Sberbank Online mobile application, helps simplify the task even more. Anyone with iOS, Android and Windows Phone will be able to use this feature. The personal finance management service has now been improved.

What are push notifications Sberbank

These notifications are small messages that appear at the top of the screen. To receive bank messages, it is enough to have a mobile platform such as IOS, Android, Windows, BlackBerry. You don't need to download any apps to do many things. There is no need to contact the bank directly. All actions can be performed from a smartphone, tablet and even a watch with a smart function. And even if this device is blocked, the user can still read messages and manage their account. In order to block any action or confirm, just click on push. Once you receive the message, you can immediately take action. Geolocation allows you to make them more personalized.

This type of message is much cheaper than SMS, since in this case you only need to pay for Internet connection. This allows the bank to save huge amounts of money. After all, the number of users the bank has is simply huge.

International experts predict that push notifications will soon replace other types of communication between the bank and the client.

As a result of a strict selection process, Sberbank gave preference to MFMSolutions to provide this service. This company showed the best results.

How to disable or delete Sberbank push notifications

But not everyone needs this feature. Some clients want to disable it after some time. This is quite easy to do. If you receive push notifications on your Android phone, then you need to go to "Settings", then find the tab "Device" then we go down and see "Notification blocking mode"

Activating the mode on the phone "Do not disturb" allows you to disable all push notifications.

This mode can be found in Settings. You just need to move the slider, but unfortunately in this case information about incoming calls will be blocked. But through “start calls” you can enter the numbers of people from whom you can receive calls.

If you have an iPhone, go to " Settings" then find the item "Notifications"— in the List of presented applications find “ Sberbank" — by clicking on it you will see the item "Allow notifications" - move the slider and notifications will be disabled.
