The printer prints double letters. What to do if the printer doubles text or image

On the Internet, there are often complaints from owners Canon devices that when printing text or images on plain paper, the black print is distorted and doubles, although the printer prints photos normally.

Many methods have been tried to solve this problem: wiping the positioning tape, re-aligning the print heads, cleaning, using different inks, etc. But all to no avail.

Two such devices fell into my hands, and I decided to try to figure out the causes of this problem. PIXMA iP7240, iP8740, MG5440, MG5540, MG7140, MG6340, MX924, iX6840 have the same mechanics (iX6840 is an A3 format printer and the mechanics are slightly different there), the same PG marked QY6-0082 and use five PGI-450 and CLI-451 inks . There are, of course, differences between these models, but not significant for current problem- the presence of a scanner and additional features– network, card reader, touchscreen and so on.

If you choose to print on photo paper in the settings, the printer uses three colors and water-soluble black. And if you choose to print on plain paper, the printer will use pigment black ink. This is where the problems start.

On the nozzle test, all colors are fine except for the black pigment (top). Therefore, a dirty positioning tape and problems with the mechanics have nothing to do with it. Otherwise, the nozzle test of all colors would be equally bad.

Let's take a closer look at the test - horizontal gaps are not visible, the PG is not dried up, the print on the napkin is clear.

No damage was found to the nozzles either, but just in case, it's better to take a closer look at the black pigment nozzles.

To see the nozzles under magnification, I took my Nikon D3100 with a 55-200mm lens, screwed my 18-55 to it through the reverse ring and got an approximate magnification of 1 to 11. At the same time, the depth of field became almost zero, so the photo quality deteriorated.

The size of the areas in the pictures in reality is about 2.1 by 1.4 mm. Let's take a look at the top of the line of black pigment nozzles first. Nozzles are orange dots that are clearly visible in the photo. Everything is in order here, but according to the test from above, the print is normal.

So let's move the camera down a bit. The photo clearly shows the transition from normal nozzles to burnt (black). At this point, the seal begins to split in two.

Let's lower the camera even lower. Again, no problems and serviceable nozzles, as above. And according to the test, the print is also normal.

Where problematic printing begins, the transition from normal nozzles to faulty and burnt nozzles is immediately clearly visible.

Let's look at the center of the ruler, everything is really bad here, all the nozzles are completely black.

For comparison, I am attaching a photo of the other colors, everything is in order with them, there are no burnt nozzles.

As a result, we can say that in the QY6-0082 PG, the black pigment nozzles burn out very quickly. This may be due to the fact that the printer is experiencing “ink starvation”, that is, they did not check the lack of ink in time and did not refill the printer. Therefore, on the same printers, but with the CISS installed, this problem occurs much less frequently than when using a slam-shut device or refilling original cartridges. However, even CISS does not guarantee that everything will be in perfect order.

The most interesting thing is that this does not happen with the rest of the colors, therefore, most likely, the problem is caused by the design of the PG, but there is no exact answer to this question yet. Based on the foregoing, it becomes obvious that no cleaning and other “dancing with a tambourine” will help, the problem can only be fixed by replacing the print head, or, given the cost of the PG, by purchasing a new printer. If you are only thinking about buying a device of the above models, then it is better to choose something else, or, in extreme cases, install a CISS in order to extend the life of the printer a little if the problem of distorted or double printing has not touched you yet.

In the event of a breakdown of one or another equipment, many wondered which service center to choose. Now the list of companies that are engaged in repair is quite large and does not cease to grow. Therefore, the choice is quite large.

In this article I will try to give some tips on what you need (or do not need) to pay attention to when handing over equipment for repair. After all, the amount of money, time and nerves spent by you directly depends on the right choice.

1. Do not pay attention to the respectability of the premises for receiving equipment, the number of personnel and other trifles. For extra square meters you have to pay rent, and the reception girls have to pay a salary. So the prices for services need to be somewhat overestimated. Of course, there are exceptions, but they are few. I do not urge to give your favorite laptop or printer to the basement to an incomprehensible person who is both a master, an inspector and a director of a company. But a small firm, in which one, but an intelligent person works at the acceptance, does not need to be swept aside immediately.

2. Specify whether you pay for diagnostics if the master could not repair the device or if you refused to repair it. The requirement to pay for diagnostics in case of failure is quite normal, the master spent his time working with your equipment. For example, I do not charge for diagnostics only if I cannot repair the device or the repair costs more than half the price of a new one.

3. Specify whether you pay for the spare parts ordered by the master in case the item could not be repaired. If yes - run from this service. You should not pay for the errors of the master, just because he did not correctly identify the breakdown and ordered the wrong spare part.

4. It will not be superfluous to inquire about the maximum repair time. Also stipulate that you would be contacted and announced the full cost before the start of the repair. Otherwise, you risk getting a bill, for example, 80% of the price of a new device. And, since the repair is over, it will be very difficult to prove anything.

5. Carefully read the receipt for acceptance for repair. If you have stipulated some conditions, but others are indicated in the receipt, your verbal agreements have no force. Also pay attention to the description of the defect, appearance and device configuration. If something is indicated incorrectly, this will enable the service center to return the device not in the configuration in which you handed it in, with mechanical damage or with another defect. For example, you gave a laptop with a defect "No sound", and the receipt says "Not working". The service center can give you your laptop, which no longer turns on.

6. It will not be superfluous to ask for a list of spare parts and their cost before the repair begins and compare with prices on the net. In this case, a markup of up to 40 percent is allowed. Many parts come out of warranty or may be damaged during installation. You also need to consider shipping costs. Therefore, some margin for the cost of the SC must be left. But if prices differ by 2-3 times - it's worth considering.

You can also look at reviews on the Internet about a particular service or find out what service centers are in your area. For example, drive into the search "Repair of printers in Minsk." Just do not forget, the negative will be necessary. It is necessary to evaluate not the presence of negativity, but its quantity.

In any case - do right choice and good luck to you!

Greetings, dear visitors. Quite often I am asked how to extend the life of a Canon cartridge or print head.

Let me tell you right now, first of all, we are talking about inkjet cartridges for Canon printers. Such as CL-511, PG-510, CL-446, PG-445, CL-441, PG-440 and others. That is, we are talking about conventional inkjet printers and MFPs that have two cartridges. For example MP280, MP230, MG2440, E404, MG3540 and others. But this also applies to Canon printers using the print head and ink tanks.

Let's see how these printers print. I immediately warn you, I will state the principle of printing in a very simplified way.

The cartridge has an absorber - a sponge in which the ink is located. From this sponge, they are fed into nozzles (nozzles). Nozzles are tubes of very small diameter. Each tube contains one or more thermocouples. During printing, the thermal elements heat up, the ink boils (an air bubble is obtained) and “shoots” onto the paper. Again, I have described very simplistically.

What happens if there is no ink in the nozzles? Thermocouples will still get hot. And the ink in the nozzles is still used as a coolant. Overheating will occur - the tubes (nozzles) are deformed and / or part of the thermoelements will fail.

After that, the cartridge will print poorly in some colors, or will not print at all.

I think the answer to the question "How to extend the life of the cartridge?" obvious - it is necessary to ensure that there is always ink in it.

But what about those who refill cartridges? After all, after the first refueling, it no longer shows the ink level. There is a simple rule. If you need to print something, but you are not sure that you have enough ink - . It will not be worse. And, perhaps, this will save him.

If you expect that thanks to this advice, your cartridge will work forever - then you are mistaken. It will definitely burn. Why? Yes, because, according to the manufacturer, it is disposable (the statement does not apply to printheads using ink tanks). The main task of the manufacturer is to make sure that he is guaranteed to print the ink filled from the factory, and then, as quickly as possible, fails. Yes, the manufacturer wants to do business on consumables, he also wants to eat :)

But hopefully this article will help your cartridge last longer :)

Have you noticed that the laser printer doubles when printing? In general, many users of such printing devices sometimes encounter this problem, but solving it is not so difficult as it might seem at first glance. Of course, to solve this problem, you can use the services service center, but why spend money if, with a competent and responsible approach, you can fix the problem yourself?

So, if the MFP or printer prints a double image or text, then one of the problems may be a malfunction of the primary charge shaft of the cartridge. This problem can be solved by disassembling consumable and thorough cleaning of the named part. After the actions taken, carefully lubricate the shaft contacts at the points of its attachment with conductive grease. But if the text or pictures continue to be duplicated, then the primary charge shaft will have to be replaced.

Duplicating an image on a laser printer

Why does a laser printer double when printing? It happens that it gives out such a print defect as a result of the oven not baking. Often this happens after refilling with the wrong toner. The fact is that in this situation the temperature of baking the coloring powder in the printer is slightly higher than the required parameters. The print in this case sticks to the shaft of the oven, and from there it is re-applied to the paper, as a result of which the user receives a document with a repeating picture. To laser printer started working in normal mode, you need to increase the paper thickness through the device settings. Thanks to this simple action the fuser shaft will rotate a little slower, which is quite enough for the toner to bake and the pattern to stop doubling. After that, try printing a test document, and if it satisfies you, then the problem is solved, otherwise, check out other recommendations. If you need to print, for example, certificates, diplomas, then be sure to set the parameters of your printing device to thicker paper or just thick paper. By doing this, you will save yourself from duplicating the image on the printed sheets.

If the problem is not solved, then the possible reason for its appearance is the charge roller (corotron, also known as the charge shaft). The fact is that a contact, which is a rather thin metal plate, approaches one of its sides. Over time, it begins to gradually wear out and contact badly. As a result of this, the problem of "doubling" of printed texts and pictures appears. In some models, instead of this plate, a plastic sleeve is used, which is considered more reliable, however, even during the operation of the printer, it begins to fail. To fix the problem, take a small knife and gently scrape it on this plate. Just in case, you can repeat this process. As additional action you can bend it harder, and slightly process the charge shaft from the ends of the axis using a file. To make sure the defect double printing solved, print some test documents on the printer. If he earned desired mode, then congratulations, you avoided going to the service center.

As an additional step, if the task is still relevant, you can wipe the magnetic roller with wipes pre-moistened with alcohol. If at the same time you decide to replace the drum on the printer, then keep in mind that it can make your print more contrast and thus, the image repetition will become an order of magnitude clearer.

Problem with inkjet printer model

If it duplicates an inkjet printer, then possible reasons Doubling is due to improper ink cable routing, encoder tape contamination, and the presence of a foreign object in the printer. To fix this kind of problem, you need to color and clean the encoder strip, and clean the carriage if necessary. But if this does not help, then try to correct the position of the outer ink cable and clip - if using CISS. In addition, carefully inspect the internal mechanism of the device, it may have been littered with some foreign objects, such as scraps of paper.

Very often, during printing, the image may shift horizontally at regular intervals or double. Many printer users mistakenly think that the problem lies in the shift of the print head and begin to randomly put it in place. So what causes such a defect?

All modern printers have a positioning tape - an encoder, which is responsible for ensuring that the printer knows where the carriage is now and where it needs to go. On this tape, at regular intervals, there are tiny strips that determine the trajectory of the carriage. If the positioning tape is dirty with ink or dust, the print is poor quality, with gaps or doubles. In this case, the encoder should simply be cleaned with a tissue.

Sometimes doubling occurs due to the fact that a foreign object has entered the printer - in this case, you need to check the internal cavity of the printer for the presence of paper residues, small debris and other foreign objects. Another reason for double text and photos is the incorrect installation of the ink cable or its holder (if CISS is installed). AT this case you just need to check all the elements of the HPC system. You can additionally clean the carriage using the software.

Inspection of the printer and any manipulation of its design must be carried out carefully so as not to damage the printing mechanism. All of the above actions can be carried out both independently and with the help of specialists in the service center.
