Login to my mailbox. Example of filling out the registration form

We've already talked to you; on our agenda today oldest post office in the Russian segment of the Internet – the well-known Mail.ru.

As usual, I will talk about how to register for this mail, how to work with it in the web interface, what settings can be made to make using mail as convenient as possible. In addition, I considered it reasonable to do in this same article short review other services and projects of the Mail.Ru Group corporation.

Many users have a rather contradictory attitude towards some of this company's products: the Amigo browser alone is worth it. However, among the Mail.Ru projects there are also quite interesting ones that are quite worthy of your attention. But first things first, and let's start from the beginning: very short excursion into the history of the corporation.

The mail service Mail.ru appeared at the dawn Russian Internet in 1998. The project was created by St. Petersburg programmers who, however, worked in the Russian branch of one American company, and was intended for the internal needs of this organization. But then it was decided to test this service as an independent mailer, for which it was published in the Russian segment of the network. Was created new company, called Port.ru. The business went quite successfully, Russian users happily opened mailboxes on the service.

In fact:

  • There was no Gmail yet - the year of its appearance was 2004;
  • Yandex took its first steps into the postal sector only in 2000.

To create free email accounts, you had to register with foreign HotMail and Yahoo. For the unsophisticated Russian users it was pretty challenging task. It is not surprising that the Russian-language interface of Mail.Ru was received with a bang.

Subsequently, after going through a series of mergers, acquisitions and divisions, with the participation of Russian and foreign capital, in 2005 Port.ru turned into Mail.Ru Group. Having achieved great success in Russian market, in 2013 the company created the communication and entertainment portal My.com - to conquer a foreign audience.

From the very beginning of its existence, the company set itself the goal of becoming a multifunctional portal, not limited to the functions of an email service, and it fully succeeded.

The directions in which the company's activities are developing are as follows:

  • Postal service;
  • Messengers;
  • Media portal;
  • Search and e-commerce;
  • Games;
  • Social media.

However, in the minds of our users, Mail.ru is primarily mail. Mail was and remains the most popular mail in Russia and some other countries of the former USSR. This fact allowed the company a few years ago to relax a little and not pay much attention to the shortcomings of its service. However, hot on the heels of Pochta.Yandex and Jimeil forced the company to get together on time (somewhere in 2012-2013) and bring the mail to fruition.

Since then, Mail.ru has been closely monitoring trends and demands of the time and is a completely functional tool for working with email. Let's move on to the review of the service and try to make sure of this.

Mail.ru mail

Mail Mail ranks first among free email services on the RuNet:

  • 100 million active accounts – i.e. those that are visited at least once every three months;
  • Users per month – more than 35 million;
  • Mail.ru is one of the TOP 10 global mail services.

For quite a long time, mail users complained about the dominance of spam, but along with the general restoration of order on the service, the fight against it was intensified. Now there is no more spam on Mail.ru, breaking through barriers and protections, than on other mail services, at least according to my observations.

The volume of the mailbox provided to the user is unlimited, which is good news. When registering, 10 GB are allocated, then the box size increases as needed. Files that can be sent as attachments can be up to 20 GB in size.

Mail works with both POP-3 and IMAP protocols, which allows you to configure mail receipt not only in the web interface, but also in mail clients. Detailed manual how to do this can be found Here.

I think many of you have had mail on Mail.ru for a long time. Well, if not, let's start registering.

Registration

Enter in address bar our browser https://mail.ru and go to the main page of the portal:

You see that there is a lot of things here: news, weather, and various projects. We will come back here again, but now we are interested in registering by mail. You can start the procedure by clicking on the appropriate link either in the upper right corner or in the mail service window. After clicking on any of them, we get to the account registration window:

By registering in the mail, we create single account for access to all Mail.Ru services. The concept is the same as that of Google and Yandex, but the difference is that their account name is the username before the “@” icon, while Mail.ru is full address email. And this is understandable, since mail offers four domains to choose from - but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Fill in the fields. Of course, no one will check whether you indicate the correct first and last name or date of birth. But if you want to receive congratulations from the service on your real birthday, write the real date.

You don’t have to specify the city, but if you still decide to enter its name, a drop-down list will open in the corresponding field, and the name will need to be selected from there.

In general, the difficulty here is to come up with a name for the mailbox. Millions of users have long snapped up all the euphonious and at least slightly meaningful names, so all that remains is either to use your imagination and come up with something completely incredible, or to combine your name with numbers. In the mailbox name you can use:

  • Latin letters
  • Numbers
  • Special characters “-”, “_”, “.”.

The case of the letters does not matter. When you enter a name option, the service will prompt you with options:

You can register, as I already said, in four domains, not only on Mail.ru:

These domain names- remnants from the mergers and acquisitions I mentioned, which led to the formation of Mail.Ru Group. It doesn’t matter what domain you have your email on, except that it’s a little easier to find on bk.ru, inbox.ru or list.ru beautiful name for the box. But keep in mind that these email domains are not aliases, like Yandex (@yandex.ru and @ya.ru): and are different postal addresses.

  • 6-40 characters
  • Latin letters
  • Numbers
  • Special characters! @ # $ % ^ & * () — _ = + : ; / | \? ~` ( )
  • The letters in the password differ in case, i.e. A and a are considered different symbols.

I recommend that you take seriously the choice and storage of your password. Mail hacking is an unpleasant event, and its consequences can be very sad: even if any of your personal data falls into “skillful” hands, it can greatly harm you. Don't make it easier for attackers and choose for your mailboxes strong password.

To make it easier to restore access to your mail, if you forget your password, you can specify the number mobile phone. However, you don’t have to specify it: in this case, you click “I don’t have a mobile phone” and write an additional email. Previously, it was necessary to indicate another answer to security question, but now this option has been removed - apparently, it is useless in terms of security.

Click the “Register” button.

If you indicated your mobile phone number, which is recommended, you will need to enter the confirmation code sent to your number:

After that, enter the captcha (code) to prove that the mailbox is opened by a person and not some malicious bot:

That's it, mail on Mail.ru has been created.

Mail settings

Immediately after registration is completed, we are asked to make initial settings:

  • Upload a photo;
  • Set the theme;
  • Install the mobile application.

All these steps can be skipped, which is what we will do. Let's get to the web interface:

In general, there is nothing strikingly different from the Gmail and Yandex Mail interfaces we have seen, and what can you come up with that is so unusual? Let's figure out what settings and features are available here.

Several incoming letters in the box - greetings and instructions from the Mail.ru team.

In the upper right corner is the name of the box. If we click on it, we will get to the account settings. Let's look at them sequentially:

City I didn’t specify it, so Moscow is set by default.

– here you can edit the data that we entered during registration and upload a photo:

There are quite a few possibilities here, let's look at them:

  1. Changing your password. You can change the password either manually, or use the https://security.mru service and generate a strong password by clicking on the appropriate link:

We press the button and get a password like this: ]1qsFN9yUdXr. We copy it, return to the mail and change the password. Now the main thing is not to forget him. It is best to use a paper notepad.

  1. Adding a phone number for password recovery. When registering, I did not indicate my phone number (although this is desirable and will save you from many problems in the future), you can link it here. Enter your phone number and then the SMS code sent to it.

Enhanced protection method mail account, with whom we met both at Gmail and at Mail.Yandex. What is it? When two-factor authentication is enabled to log in mailbox you need to enter not only the mailbox name and password, but also one-time code, which will be sent via SMS to your phone or generated by a mobile application. To enable this protection, you must add your mobile phone number.

After linking a phone number, the “Enable” button appears:

Include:

After this, you will need to enter the code received in the sent SMS and permanent password, click the “Accept” button, and we see the following:

Default two-factor identification carried out with via SMS, the login to the mail in this case looks like this (pay attention to the “Do not ask for this device” checkbox: if you check it, current device the code will not be required even if identification is enabled):

But you can also install special application and receive variable codes with its help, and also create a table of backup codes in case your mobile phone is not with you. You can read how to do all this Here, I won't go into such details. We need to move on, right?

  1. Information about the use of the mailbox - when and from what devices the mail was accessed. Such information may be useful if you suspect that the mailbox has been hacked.

– they can be found here:

We will look at them below.

Add a mailbox. Interesting opportunity, similar to what Yandex offers. You can switch between different mailboxes by logging into them - and considering that some users have accumulated quite a few of them on Mail.ru for different purposes, this is very convenient. There is no need to constantly enter one and exit another.

Ready. Now, when we click on the mailbox address in the upper right corner, we see two mailboxes:

By clicking on a Google account, we see messages received at Gmail mail, as well as the entire folder structure there, in the Mail.ru interface:

I don’t know about you, but I really like this feature.

Similarly, but even easier, a mailbox is connected:

Great, let's now move on to working with mail. Let's look at the list of letters:

You can control the view of the list of letters using the “View” button in the right corner above the list:

  • Messages in the inbox list can be grouped - letters with a common subject and participants in the correspondence are shown together, one above the other: an analogue of Google “chains”. To do this, click “View” - “Enable grouping”.
  • Letters can be sorted, but only if grouping is turned off: by date, by author, by subject - in ascending or descending order.
  • You can also control the appearance of the list: it can be expanded (by default), when the author’s avatar, subject and first words of the letter are shown, or compact - without an avatar.

These view settings can also be found in the main menu mail settings: “More” - “Settings” - “Working with emails”:

Here you can specify whether or not to show the beginning of the letter in the list of letters, and make some other settings. Everything seems to be clear here.

Below the list of folders are filters, using which you can show letters in the list that meet the following conditions:

These same filter buttons are duplicated in the upper right corner under the menu.

To cancel a filter, just click on a folder, for example, “Inbox,” and all its contents will be displayed.

By default, emails are sorted into five folders:

  • Inbox
  • Sent
  • Drafts
  • Basket

When you hover over any of the folders, a “Customize Folders” link appears. Let’s follow it and get to the “Folders” settings section. Here you can create your own folder:

By clicking on the “Add folder” button, we will have to give it a name, determine its position in the folder hierarchy and, if necessary, make additional settings:

You can block a folder from being downloaded by email clients, make the folder an archive and protect it with a password, which can be very useful if you organize shared access to the mailbox.

How to manage the distribution of letters into folders? Is there a rules setting in Mail.ru? Of course there is. Go to “Settings” - “Filtering Rules” and add a filter:

Everything is quite simple, there is no such puzzle as in Gmail with its labels:

By the way, you can immediately create a kind of “ Whitelist"- in mail, unlike Yandex, there is no such concept, but you can simply list the recipients whose letters should not go into spam, and click the "Save" button.

Let's return to the list of letters. You probably noticed that we are strongly encouraged to collect mail from different mailboxes:

Unlike adding an account, when the entire structure of a third-party mailbox is displayed as is in the mail interface and in order to get there you need to switch to the corresponding account, collecting mail means that all mail from the specified mailbox will be forwarded to current mail Mail.ru. Click “Set up the collection of letters” (about the same thing - “Settings” - “Mail from other mailboxes”):

We give permissions:

And we see that it really is new folder, as we indicated, has been created. Messages from my Gmail account have been added to it:

Let's see what operations with letters can be done in the message list:

Using the buttons located above the list of letters, messages can be selected (a single letter or a specific group), deleted, moved to the archive and other folders, and also marked as spam - in this case they will be moved to the appropriate folder. If the message ended up in spam by mistake, then we have the opportunity to report this to the system by clicking the “not spam” button:

This way the user controls individual settings anti-spam algorithm.

Some menu operations are available using hotkeys.

When you right-click on a letter, it opens context menu, in which some of the above actions are available.

Let's go through the menu now:

Everything here is pretty standard. Contacts can be exported and imported in Outlook CSV, Google CSV or vCard format. If the option is enabled in “Settings” in the “Working with letters” section, then all our recipients from whom we receive or send messages will be added to “Contacts”. When collecting mail from other mailboxes, their contacts will also be added here.

It is possible to combine contacts into a group for the convenience of organizing mailings. The group is assigned a name, and when creating a letter, just type its first letters - the service will automatically find the group in your contacts.

An interesting option - all attachments that have ever been attached to letters are displayed here. In addition, in the right vertical menu You can set a filter by file type. Isn't it convenient? There is no need to frantically scroll through a long list of messages in search of some lost file; you can find it quickly and without hassle. Another plus of Mail.ru.

These are templates for designing a mailbox. There are many of them, if you want, you can have fun. Below we will look at how you can issue a separate letter - the mail provides such an option.

Not the best name for a menu section, and besides, you have to guess that this is where the mail settings are hidden. We have already sorted out many settings, let's see what is left there:

Arrows indicate points that we did not consider. Well, let's look at it now:

  • The sender’s name and signature – in principle, everything is clear. Sender's name is the name that is visible to recipients of the letter in the “From” field; we can change it. Interestingly, the mail allows you to create several sets of sender names and signatures, and select them when sending a letter.
  • An answering machine should also not raise any questions: it allows you to set up a response to letters at a time when you will not be able to check your mail, for example, during vacation if you use mail as a work email.
  • Notifications – you can set up SMS notifications when you receive a letter.
  • Mail.Ru Agent – messenger settings:

The agent allows you to send free SMS to any phone number and exchange messages with Mail.ru users. Let's talk a little more about it below.

  • Anonymizer – useful feature for those who register on various services and doesn’t want to “shine” his main address there. Emails sent to this anonymous address will go to the main mailbox:

Here is another attractive invention of the service, I think you will appreciate it.

In addition, in the “More” menu we see the following sections:

is a task planner that allows you to keep track of both work matters and holidays and friends’ birthdays. With its help, you can plan both individual events and create schedules - for example, participation in any activity. The organizer has the ability to remind you of upcoming events via SMS or email. The calendar can be used both individually and in public mode.

The Mail.ru company could not stay away from the latest trends in data storage and in 2013 launched its cloud storage. When you register with your email, you are automatically granted access to .

You can store your files in the Cloud and access them from any device. It is possible to automatically upload photos and videos from your smartphone to the Cloud. Of course, you can also organize the stored files sharing. Tariffs:

  • 8GB, uploading files up to 2GB is free;
  • 64GB, files up to 32GB – 690 RUR/year
  • 128GB, files up to 32GB – 1490 RUR/year
  • 256GB, files up to 32GB – 2290 RUR/year
  • 512GB, files up to 32GB – RUB 3,790/year
  • 1TB, files up to 32GB – 6990 RUR/year
  • 2TB, files up to 32GB – RUB 13,900/year
  • 4TB, files up to 32GB – RUR 27,900/year

Bonus

Discounts and gifts from Mail.ru partners, nothing interesting.

Creating a letter

Now let's see what options exist when preparing a message. Click the clearly visible “Write a letter” button:

There are many small icons in the email window. Despite their inconspicuousness, we will look at them carefully - they contain a lot of useful information.

Firstly, it immediately catches your eye that you can attach a file both from your device and from the Cloud or from mail. As we remember, Mail.ru provides access “in one fell swoop” to all attachments from messages in the mailbox, so you can select any one and attach it to your letter. I repeat that this is very convenient.

Second, notice the icons at the end of the Subject field:

You can give a letter the status “Important”, request notification of receipt, remind you about the letter if there is no response via certain time and set a date and time for sending the letter. All these functions may be quite in demand.

Thirdly, the letter text editor is also not simple: the entered text can be checked for spelling, translated into several languages, converted into transliteration (I wonder why?), and if you click on the words “Advanced design”, you can very whimsically decorate your message using styles:

You can congratulate the recipient on the holiday by attaching a postcard to the letter.

How to delete Mail.ru mail?

It may happen that you no longer need your email address. To remove it, you need to use special interface. If you are not in your account, you will need to go there, otherwise you will see a window:

Please note that not only the mailbox will be deleted, but also the data in all other mailbox services. Make sure that you have saved everything you need, and that messages are either definitely not needed or have been forwarded to another mailbox. It is possible to restore the account, but the data in it is not.

To delete, you will need to enter the reason for deletion - at least a few words, a password and a captcha.

To restore your account, simply enter its name and password on the main page of the portal. You will enter the mailbox, but it will be empty.

I hope my post review was helpful to you. As promised, I will now briefly talk about some of the main Mail.ru services. I'll start with mail for business, as it is the closest in topic to regular mail.

– a project that provides services and tools for organizing the company’s work online.

  • Connecting mail for your domain. This service is suitable not only for organizations, but also for ordinary website owners: it is more convenient to work with regular mail than to deal with setting up mail on your hosting. It is also important that the mailbox capacity for a domain is unlimited; up to 5,000 addresses can be created on a domain.
  • Cloud both for storing archives – documents of little demand, and for organizing general access to up-to-date information and working with her.
  • Organization of a kind of intranet portal of the organization - information about employees, their contacts and communication with them
  • Website web analytics tools

A variation of Mail.ru for business is the Mail.ru service for education: free tools for organization comfortable work educational institutions.

Mail.ru was originally created as postal service, however, over time it became an increasingly ambitious project, a mega-portal. Of course, having your own search engine for such a resource is a matter of principle.

The company's first search engine, GoGo.ru, was created in 2007. However, until recently, Mail.ru used solutions from Google and Yandex, and only in 2013 it began using search on a platform of its own development.

The search engine can be found either at http://go.mail.ru/:

Or on the main page of the portal:

The search engine ranks third in popularity in RuNet.

Social media

What these networks have in common is the presence of a profile (my page), the ability to add friends, chat, watch videos, listen to music, and join various interest groups. Of course, there are differences too. But I won’t talk about the functionality of each social network - as you understand, our review does not involve such details, I’ll just tell you a little about the history and features of each of them.

VKontakte– the most popular social network Russia. By the way, it was organized quite recently - in 2006, as a place of communication for university students and graduates, and quickly gained momentum: today the number of registered users is more than 400 million.

Mail.Ru Group bought a controlling stake in VK in March 2014, and in September – the remaining shares, thus becoming the sole owner of the project.

I note that since 2015, users have been complaining about periodic “glitches” and failures: either access to audio recordings disappears, then likes disappear, and recently all users suddenly received several administrative rights. Whether this is connected with the dominance of Mail.ru is anyone’s guess.

The main audience of VK is young people, VK is the leader in the number of users under 24 years old, middle age– from 20 to 30 years. The network's content is mainly focused on entertainment and communication.

The social network Odnoklassniki, like VKontakte, was also launched in 2006 and at first overtook VK in popularity. However, the introduction of registration fees in 2008 (cancelled in 2010) did its dirty work and VK has since confidently overtaken OK.

Mail.Ru Group has owned Odnoklassniki since 2010,

Unlike My World, Odnoklassniki requires separate registration with the obligatory entry of a phone number.

The number of OK users is about 300 million. At the same time, the average age of the audience is much higher than the age of VK users: 30-45 years old, the majority are women. The main function of classmates is to communicate between users.

– the project was initially mailrush. It was created in 2007 to combine a number of portal services, such as Photos, Videos and Blogs, and was initially a kind of conglomerate of diverse content. Subsequently, My World evolved into a fully-fledged social network.

To create an account in My World separate from postal registration not required, but when logging in you need to click the “Join” button, which will create a profile on the network.

A significant part of the content of My World consists of videos and games. However, the network’s audience is quite mature (average age 25-45 years) and is very similar to Odnoklassniki users. Which in general is not surprising.

About 40 million are registered in My world. accounts, it is the third largest Russian social network by number of users.

- messenger from Mail.ru. Here is a partial list of its capabilities:

  • Notifications about the arrival of new letters
  • Ability to receive and respond to messages from social networks
  • Sending free SMS
  • Calls and video calls
  • Chats, including group chats
  • Transferring files

The agent exists in several versions - in the form mobile application, for Windows, in the web interface. I remember there was a time when the Agent was very intrusive and constantly offered to identify himself, but now his activity seems to have become less. But the functionality of the messenger is quite impressive.

ICQ

It will probably be a discovery for many that the good old ICQ now belongs to the Mail.Ru Group. The purchase took place in 2010.

ICQ– a centralized instant messaging service – was extremely popular around the world at the turn of the century, until about 2005. Now the ICQ train has left, but there are still followers, mainly in Russia, who use it and don’t want any Skype or other bells and whistles.

You can log in to ICQ with home page mailrush portal. We get to the service page:

The client program must be installed on your computer or mobile device. Functions:

  • Chat, group chat– the most basic
  • Video chat
  • Transferring files
  • Calls

ICQ, as we see, does not offer anything that would not be implemented in other instant messengers and social networks.

Probably the least favorite Mail.ru product among the people is the Amigo browser. The browser is developed on the basis of the Google Chromium engine and uses Mail.ru for searching: you cannot select Google or Yandex as the default search engine in it.

It has practically become an Internet meme: it is quite persistent, to put it mildly, and tries to install itself on your computer in a variety of ways. Probably many of you have encountered this problem.

The fact is that to distribute this product, Mail.ru uses affiliate programs: when downloading various free software you risk not noticing the small “Install Amigo” checkbox and not removing it in time. Delete installed browser- also a whole problem.

Many people believe that Amigo is the most real virus. On the Internet you can find complaints about the slowdown of the computer, the installation of incomprehensible programs, and the generally disgusting behavior of the browser. However, some inexperienced users, having “caught” Amigo, use it and are even quite satisfied, so this distribution policy is bearing fruit. And apparently not bad, since Mail.ru is ready to take reputational risks, but not abandon this method of installation.

Along with Amigo, another Mail.ru product penetrates computers:

This program is a browser toolbar that makes it easy to access email products. It also causes a lot of negativity among users, mainly due to the method of distribution.

Answers– a service where people can ask questions and answer them. Enough interesting project, since it is not always possible to formulate your question correctly in order to get the correct answer from the search. Living people are still better than search robots, understand what you mean.

Each new user is given 100 points. A newbie can be asked five questions per day, each question is worth 5 points. You can comment on the answer, choose the best one, participate in polls, and so on. For all these actions points are awarded. There is a complex rating system in place. In general, it's not that simple.

Well, I’ll very briefly go through other services, which are mainly information and entertainment portals of various directions.

Conclusion

Well, what can we say about Mail.ru mail and in general about the products of the Mail.Ru Group company:
Overall I like the post office. The email mail interface is quite modern and convenient. There are no special bells and whistles in it, but there are several nice features that we talked about above:

  • Unlimited box size;
  • Ease of switching between different mailboxes, not only on Mail.ru, but also on third-party mail services;
  • Convenient search by attachments in messages;
  • Integration with Mail.ru services, such as Mail.ru Agent, Cloud and Calendar;
  • Anonymizer - the ability to hide your main email address when registering on various services, submitting advertisements, etc.
  • I would also like to note that it is quite detailed and conveniently organized. background information service.

Despite the ongoing fight against spam, some users are still dissatisfied with its effectiveness. But I can’t say that mail mail is negated by the amount of missed spam from other mail services.

It is also worth keeping in mind the possibility of using separate solutions from Mail for Business, for example, organizing mail for your domain on Mail.ru. In addition to the undoubted convenience of this option before organizing mail on your hosting, I note that mail offers up to 5000 addresses, while Yandex for a similar service only offers up to 1000.

All this allows me to say that mail is a completely worthy tool for both personal use, and for business.

As for other services, as they say, everything is not so clear.

Information portals, such as [email protected] and others, delight with an abundance of content. There you can easily find something useful for yourself, read reviews, chat on forums, and get advice.

But products that spread almost virally, for example the Amigo browser, cause rejection and harsh criticism among most users. Besides the fact that people don’t like it when something is slipped to them in a deceptive way, the quality of these products is also low, to put it mildly. Yes, I wrote that it is probably profitable, but is it worth it? Do you know people who use Amigo?

Regarding social networks: it is obvious that Mail.ru pays attention to them great attention. This direction is important for the company, as evidenced by the purchase of VKontakte in 2014, as well as the fact that the company owns the three largest social networks in Russia. It turns out that it is Mail.ru that determines the direction of development of domestic social networks. I don't know if this is good or bad?

Have you seen my sketch about flexibility?

In this lesson I will tell you how to log into email on Mail.ru, Yandex or Google. And what should I do if my mail does not open?

What is email

E-mail or e-mail is personal email. Through it, letters are received and sent over the Internet. This can be either plain text or files from a computer: documents, photographs, videos.

Each box has its own unique address. This address is assigned to only one user - it cannot belong to several people at once.

The address consists of English characters without spaces and consists of three parts:

1) Login - unique set English letters/numbers.

2) @ - separator between login and mail site. This sign is called a dog. To type it on the keyboard, you need to English layout hold down the Shift key and number 2

3) Mail site address- Internet address where the box is located.

Example of an email address

Every mailbox on the Internet is located on some mail site. For example, on the Yandex or Mail.ru website. And it turns out that in order to access your mailbox, you must first open the mail site.

The most common email sites are mail.ru, yandex.ru and gmail.com.

There are other, slightly less popular sites: rambler.ru, tut.by, ukr.net, i.ua. This doesn't mean they are worse, just that fewer people use them.

You can find out which site the mailbox belongs to by its address. The mail site is written immediately after the @ sign.

★ If mail.ru, list.ru, inbox.ru or bk.ru is written after the @ icon, then this means that the mailbox is located on the mail.ru website

★ If there is gmail.com after the dog, then the mailbox is located on the gmail.com website

★ If yandex.ru, yandex.by, yandex.ua, yandex.kz, yandex.com, ya.ru, then on the website yandex.ru

Login to Google mail (Gmail). Instructions for those whose mailbox ends at @gmail.com

Often, immediately after this, your box opens on its own. But if this does not happen, a login window will appear.

Sometimes the initial one opens instead Gmail page. In this case, click on “Login” in the upper right corner.

Google prompts you to enter a phone number or email address. The phone will only work if you previously attached it to the box. And so you need to enter your login in this field.

If the data was entered correctly, the mail will open.

Why isn't my mail opening?

There are three reasons why a person cannot get into his box:

  • Incorrect login
  • Wrong password
  • The mailbox has been deleted or blocked

I will now tell you about each case. And I’ll also tell you what to do. The advice is banal to the point of disgrace, but this is the only sure way to open your email.

Incorrect login. Each mailbox has a login. This is his unique identifier on the mail site. Using it, the site can identify you and open your mailbox, and not someone else’s.

The login always consists of English letters and/or numbers. May contain a period as well as a hyphen. And from this login the name of the box is formed.

To enter your mailbox, you need to correctly type the login from it. You can't make a mistake with a single letter, number or symbol!

For example, my login is ivan.petrov-35. And if I instead typed ivan.petrov35, then my email will not open - an error will be displayed.

In addition, on some email sites, it is important not to make a mistake not only in the login, but also in the ending - the part that comes after the @ sign.

This applies to everyone’s favorite site Mail.ru. There the ending of the mailbox can be either the standard mail.ru or another: bk.ru, list.ru or inbox.ru.

For example, I have a mailbox on Maila [email protected]. This means that in addition to writing the login correctly, you also need to choose the correct ending. Otherwise, I won’t be able to get into my mailbox - the site will throw an error.

Wrong password. The password is the key to the box. A set of letters and/or numbers that open the box. If you make a mistake in even one character, the password will not work. The site will throw an error.

If the password contains letters, they are typed only in English.

Additionally, the password is case sensitive. This means that if it contains capital letter, and you typed it small (lowercase), then such a password will not work.

The mailbox has been deleted or blocked. It happens that you can’t get into the mailbox because it has been removed from the mail site. That is, it was simply erased along with all the letters.

This usually happens when the box has not been used for a long time. For example, if the mailbox was on the Mail.ru website and you haven’t visited it for six months, according to mail.ru rules it can be deleted.

What to do if mail does not open

1. Open Notepad, type the password for the mailbox there, copy it and paste it into the website.

To do this, go to “Start”, type Notepad in the search bar and open the program.

A window for printing text will open. This is where we type the password.

Select it and copy it. To do this, place the cursor at the end of the password and press left button mouse and circle it. Then click inside right click mouse and select “Copy”.

This simple procedure will help you avoid making mistakes when entering your password. After all, on the site it is typed in dots, so it is difficult to notice the error.

2. Try it different options login

As I already said, a login is a unique identifier of a mailbox on a mail site. If you indicate only one wrong letter, the system will not be able to identify the box, and, therefore, will not be able to open it.

Often people not only make mistakes in writing their login, but rather they are being described. For example, a person has a box called [email protected]. And he prints the login yan.ivanov. This is a mistake. Even if the password is entered correctly, the mailbox will not open.

By the way, the login, unlike the password, is not case sensitive. That is, you can type it in letters of any size. Big, small, big and small - whatever, it doesn't matter.

3. Use the password recovery feature.

Mail sites allow you to restore access to your mailbox. The system will ask several questions about your email and if you answer correctly, it will ask you to indicate New Password. Immediately after this, the box will open. From now on it will be accessible using a new password.

In Mail.ru, to restore access, click on the inscription “Forgot your password?”.

In Yandex, click on the question mark at the end of the password field.

In Gmail.com, click "Forgot your email address?"

If you remember your address, then enter it and click “Next”. In the next window, click on “Forgot your password?”.

Note

  • There are no spaces in the login or password
  • And the login and password are only entered in English letters
  • The password is sensitive to letter size. If instead capital letters If you type small, this password will not work.

If you can't remember your login

It happens that you remember the password, but forgot the mailbox address. But the address, that is, the login on the mail site, is the main thing. Without it, it will not be possible to restore access to the mailbox.

You can try to find out your login using a browser - the program through which you access the Internet. To do this, simply click on the field to enter the name of the box twice with the left mouse button. If you're lucky, a list will appear where, among other things, your login can be written.

Another way to find out the name forgotten box, this is to contact the person to whom you sent letters from it. If he still has at least one letter from you, ask him to say what is written there in the address line. To do this, you need to open the letter and look at the line under the header of the letter (at the top of it).

If the site says that the mailbox does not exist

It happens that when you try to recover a password, the mail site writes that the mailbox does not exist or there is no such account.

There are two reasons why this happens:

  1. You made a mistake when printing your login.
  2. The box has been deleted.

The first reason is clear. The mailbox address is printed incorrectly and there really is no such login in the system. You just need to enter it correctly.

But if you are sure that the login is correct, but the site still shows that such mail does not exist, then the mailbox has been deleted. You can delete the mailbox yourself in your mail settings. Or it may happen automatically.

On some email sites this happens if the mailbox is not used for a long time. For example, if you have not accessed your mail on mail.ru for more than six months, it may be deleted.

The box is deleted along with all its contents. You can return it, but without letters. To do this, you need to re-register your mail with the same login.

If you don't really know what email is or how to create one, then you've probably only recently started discovering the Internet for yourself. There is nothing wrong with this - there is a first time for everything. This article will help you understand the terms and something else.

E-mail (short for electronic mail) is a technology that allows you to send and receive emails on the Internet. The most interesting thing is that e-mail, according to the principle of its operation, is not much different from regular mail itself. It even uses all the same terms. And yet, e-mail has one significant advantage - letters are delivered almost instantly. Minus - no one can guarantee 100% delivery of letters.

It is believed that email appeared back in 1965 - then based on operating system CTSS was created MAIL application, which allowed you to send letters within the same computer. Then it became possible to send letters to another machine. E-mail in the form familiar to us most likely appeared in 1996, when the post office was opened. Hotmail service. One of the first mail services in Russia was, apparently, Mail.ru - it was launched in 1998.

Registration email

I described in some detail the registration process on several popular services:, and. In general, I can say that registration, as a rule, takes only a few minutes of your free time. The main thing is to come up with suitable login And complex password, so that you can rest assured about the security of your data.

It is recommended to use a reputable email service. Why? Firstly, the service will always be available (force majeure situations happen to everyone, don’t forget about them), secondly, you get the opportunity to communicate with the support service, which will help you figure it out if problems arise, thirdly, no one unknown postal service with a hundred users can disappear into oblivion at any moment along with all your letters. As you can see, the pros and cons are obvious.

After registration you can configure mail client on your PC, which will allow you to see and read absolutely all the letters that come to you by e-mail and do not need to use the web interface.

Email address

I would also like to tell you a little about the mail address. It consists of two parts. So, the first part is the nickname that you come up with yourself. Since most of the nicknames are already taken, you will have to come up with something tricky. For example, you won’t be able to use nicknames like privet or andrey, since they were registered several years ago (they say that beautiful postal addresses can be bought for a certain amount of money, but I personally have not seen such advertisements).

The second part is the domain name prefixed with a dog icon (@). Typically, services have one domain (for example, @yandex.ru), while others have several (the same mail.ru allows you to use @inbox.ru, @list.ru, etc.).

Using email

In most cases, e-mail is used for writing and receiving letters. ordinary users. Very often e-mail is used for work. Well, some use email (as it is sometimes called) to send spam. I told you what it is in .

If you have questions, ask.

It is quite difficult to meet in our country a person who uses virtual network internet and no email. Thanks to it, you can send and receive letters, and more. For example, it is impossible to register on any site if you do not have your own e-mail address. Many services offer becoming an email owner today. One of them is Mail.ru.
