To get started with Gmail, you need to create a Google account. First you need to go to the address Proceed with registration, then you should enter your data. In the first two fields you need to write your first and last name (these fields are required), then you need to come up with a name for your mailbox. When coming up with a name, it is important to create one that is both unique, which is not registered in the service, and easy to remember. If the name is already taken, the service will warn you about this, suggesting that you use a similar one or come up with a new one. When coming up with a name for a mailbox, you can use from 6 to 30 characters, but not less than 6. If the user wants to use more than eight characters consisting of numbers, the system will not accept such a name, offering to add at least one Latin letter to the numbers.

Next, you need to choose a password consisting of at least eight characters. The registration service warns that you should not use simple passwords, which are very easy for attackers to guess. It is also possible to skip this check, but if you check the box next to the words “Skip this check. You can drag emails from one tab to another. A window will open in front of you with the question “ Should I always place emails from this address in this tab?“. Feel free to click “ Yes“.

Signature

You can add a signature that will be automatically added to the end of sent emails. To do this, click on the gear icon in the upper left corner of the mail interface. In the menu that opens, select “ Settings“. Scroll down the page until you see “ Signature“.

If you will use email to communicate with clients and colleagues, it is better to fill out the field with official data. For example, you can indicate your full name, phone number and position.

Import and collection of mail

You can transfer your contacts and existing correspondence in other mailboxes to Gmail. To do this, go to the “tab” in the settings. Accounts and import” and make the appropriate settings.

  • Importing mail and contacts– here you can specify which mailbox to transfer contacts and correspondence from. This is done only for existing letters, that is, new letters will not be automatically transferred;

Gmail.com mail - login

Logging into Gmail is very easy. Immediately after creating an account, you will be automatically authorized, that is, you will log into it. However, you will always need to sign in and out of your account when you are done. Signing out is especially important if you use a public computer (for example, in a library or office). We also tried logging in from different computers with different operating systems - there were no problems, everything was standard. Consequently, we came to the conclusion that those who are unable to log in are doing something wrong. Perhaps you are confusing the services Gmail.ru and Gmail.com. The first one has nothing to do with Google, including Gmail.com, these are two different email services, so don’t get confused. Also keep in mind that Gmail.com is a Google product, so it's okay if the Gmail.com page redirects to the Google page. Mail settings

There will come a time when you want to customize the look or feel of your email. For example, you can create a signature, change labels, or change the theme. All this can be done in Gmail Mail Settings.

Adding contacts

Importing mail and contacts

You may already have a list of contacts in another mailbox, and manually transferring it to a new mailbox will take a lot of time. Gmail allows you to import contacts from other email accounts, and you can even import all your emails. You can import mail and contacts from many mail services, such as Yandex, Mail.

To import from another mail:
