Domain mail registration. Setting up corporate email via Yandex

Today, almost any virtual hosting offers the ability to create mailboxes for your domain as an additional service, but the convenience of working with such mailboxes sometimes leaves much to be desired. To improve the quality of work with domain mail, you can use a free service from YandexMail for domain . This service allows you to link your domain mail to Yandex mail servers with the ability to create up to 1000 unlimited mailboxes using all the advantages of the service Yandex.Mail, such as automatic antivirus scanning, spam filters, access via the web interface, access from mobile devices and via a direct connection via SMTP/POP3/IMAP protocols.

One of the main steps in setting up linking a domain to the Yandex mail system is creating special records in the DNS zone of your domain. To simplify and automate this procedure as much as possible, you can delegate the domain to Yandex NS servers, that is, in fact, use another free serviceYandex DNS hosting .

In this note, we will step-by-step consider the procedure for connecting domain mail to Yandex mail servers, as well as delegating a domain to Yandex servers using our domain IT-KB.RU as an example.

Register an account on Yandex

To work with Mail for a domain, you need a Yandex account, using which we will manage mail in the future. At the moment, you can connect up to 50 domains to each account.Let's register and get a Yandex account, if this has not been done before.

Connecting the domain to Yandex

After we have logged in to the Yandex website using the created account, we will opendomain adding page , indicate the name of our domain and click the button Connect domain.

After adding the domain, we will need to confirm that we are its owner. The web page will display the status Domain not verified and three options will be offered to help us confirm ownership of the domain.

Of the three proposed options, I chose the first option with placing the file in the root directory of the site. After the specified file is placed, click the button Check domain ownership.

After successful verification we will be redirected to the setup page MX-records for our domain. You can make these changes in the DNS zone of our domain either independently or automatically if you delegate the domain to Yandex. Considering that in addition to the MX record in our domain, in order to fully support Yandex mail, we will need to add several more service SRV records, the easiest way is to delegate the domain, as a result of which all the necessary records in the DNS zone of our domain will be created automatically.

Let's follow the reference linkdelegate domain to Yandex and get acquainted with information on how to delegate a DNS domain to Yandex NS servers. Everything here is extremely simple. We switch to the DNS hosting where our domain is currently located and edit the NS server records. Let's change the current NS servers to dns1.yandex.net Anddns2.yandex.net

We wait for some time (it can take from several hours to two days) for the changes to be distributed across the Internet name servers and check the result, for example, using the utility nslookup

As you can see, now the name servers of our domain are Yandex servers, and we can return to setting up mail for the domain. Let's go back todomain mail management console and we will see that now the domain status has changed to The domain is connected and delegated to Yandex.

Let's open the link DNS Editor and look at the records automatically added and configured after domain delegation to support Yandex services - MX,CNAME entries to specify the mail server, SRV (SPF, DKIM) records to support mail services and messaging systems via XMPP.

Let's create a new mailbox for our domain and get acquainted with the available options for managing mailboxes

Yandex has long become the leader of the Runet, and Yandex mail for a domain is an excellent opportunity to receive letters to a mailbox like my_mail@my_domain.ru, while reading them in the convenient Yandex interface (the interface, by the way, has recently been significantly improved once again) .

Connecting a domain to Yandex mail is quite easy - you need to go through the sequence below.

1. Adding a domain. Follow the link https://pdd.yandex.ru. After that, enter the name of your domain (for example, XXXXX.XX) in the form field and click the “Connect domain” button. If at this stage you are not yet authorized, then Yandex will offer to do so. Immediately after entering your login/password, your domain will be connected.

2. Confirmation of ownership of the domain. Open the “My domains” tab, go to “Confirm domain ownership”. Yandex will offer you several options for further actions: upload a special file to the root of your site, create a subdomain in the zone of your domain and configure its CNAME, or specify a special type of mailing address as an email address for contacts of your domain.

3. Waiting for test results. Yandex, unfortunately, scans domains on a schedule. If everything is done correctly, you will soon see a message indicating successful domain confirmation, and the domain status will change to “Waiting for MX records to be installed.”

4. Selecting an option for setting up MX records. At this stage, there are two ways for you: setting up an MX record yourself on your own hosting through its control panel or delegating the domain to Yandex (with the result that everything happens almost instantly). The second method is much simpler, so we’ll consider it. When using it, MX records will be configured automatically, and the further functionality of your domain will be ensured by Yandex itself. All you need to do is change the NS server of your domain through the registrar panel and wait for your domain to connect!

So, done! Now you can add up to 1000 mailboxes to your domain, gift them to your relatives, acquaintances or friends and use the most convenient mail provided by the Yandex Mail for Domain service.

To connect your domain to Yandex.Mail:

  1. 1 Log in to the website and go to the section;
  2. 2 Click on the domain name for which you need to order the Yandex.Mail service;
  3. 3

    In the “Mail and Business Services” section, move the slider to position On opposite the item “Yandex.Mail on your domain (free)”:

    You will see a notification:

    Click Continue ;

  4. 4

    The further process of setting up the service depends on which DNS servers are registered for your domain. You can find out which DNS are registered for a domain using the service.

    The following is specified for the domain:

    Ns1..site

    if the DNS servers ns1.site and ns2.site are registered for the domain, further configuration of Yandex.Mail will occur automatically. You just need to wait for the update.

    In order for you to be able to send emails from the site, we recommend adding the following TXT record:

    Subdomain Record type Record value
    @ TXT

    The “a” key before “~all” in the entry value is responsible for sending mail from the site. You can register a TXT record using .

    Other DNS servers

    in this case, you need to manually add Yandex.Mail for it to function.

    You can see the entries that need to be added in your personal account. To do this, go to, click on the name of the service Yandex.Mail for domain and select Information about manually setting up the service:

    In addition, in order for you to be able to send emails from the site, we recommend adding the following TXT record:

    Subdomain Record type Record value
    @ TXTv=spf1 include:_spf.yandex.ru a ~all

    The “a” key before “~all” in the entry value is responsible for sending mail from the site. You can register a TXT record using .

    Attention

    If you recently changed the DNS servers and then registered resource records, Yandex will not be able to see them immediately, but when the DNS servers are updated.

  5. 5

    You can find out about the current status of the settings on the page. If it says that there are not enough records to install, use to check which resource records are currently registered for your domain. Read more about this in the article.

Yandex.Mail for a domain - what is it?

“Yandex.Mail for Domain” is a service that allows you to integrate a domain name with a free service "Yandex.Mail" receiving all the benefits of the latter's work.

This service may be needed by the owner of a domain name who wants to make his mail unique, for example, “user_name@domain_name”.

The advantages of this solution are obvious and after connecting the service the user receives:

    the ability to create 1000 mailboxes (a large number is possible after submitting an application to increase the limit);

    convenient web interface for management mail accounts(blocking an account in case of dismissal of an employee, creation of a new one, etc.), as well as various additional features, for example: creating an alias, mailing list, importing mail from others mail servers, etc.;

    tools for working with letters via a web interface (viewing office documents, listening to attached .mp3 files in the browser).

    protection against spam and viruses;

    ability to access from the web interface, email programs and mobile devices;

    the ability to install your organization’s logo in the web interface and select many different themes for the interface;

    Due to greater trust from other mail servers, Yandex.Mail emails do not end up on spam lists as often.

    calendar for organizing the working day.

Also added to the list is the lack of need to employ a system administrator.

And if you still need his services to set up the service, the price will be minimal.

Currently, the service serves about 300 thousand domain names and about 4 million mailboxes.

We create and configure Yandex.Mail for a domain

When starting to set up this service, you must already be registered in the Yandex.Mail service and own a certain domain name for which the settings will be made.

Step 1. Connection and domain verification. At this stage, the person who wants to use the service must prove that he is the owner of the domain name.

Verification usually takes no more than 24 hours and once the domain is confirmed, the administrator has access to all functions.

Go to the confirmation page and select one of the proposed methods for confirmation:

    creating a subdomain with a specific name generated by the system;

    changing the contact email address to the address containing the domain name for which registration is being carried out.

The first two methods are simpler than the last. In our example we will use the first method.

We create a file in Notepad (we name it as the system indicated), place the system-generated text in it, rename it to .html and upload it to the root directory of the site.

After completing these manipulations, click the “Check domain ownership” button.

Step 2. Setting up MX records or domain delegation Yandex .

If the domain name was registered only for the purpose of using a unique name domain for company email addresses or for personal purposes (to emphasize individuality), it is recommended to use Yandex domain delegation.

In this case, you will only be able to use Yandex services, but all settings for your domain will be done automatically.

If the domain is used for a website located at a certain hosting provider, the best solution would be to set up an MX record in its control panel.

For the convenience of users, the company has posted on the official website information on setting up a domain for the most popular registrars and Internet providers.

Setting up an MX record

Setting up an MX record is different for each service, so we will limit ourselves to a general description without reference to the interface of the hosting provider or registrar.

By going to the administration panel, you need to delete all existing MX records that do not point to Yandex servers, after which you should create a new one by selecting priority - 10, and in the destination (data) field specify mx.yandex.net.

The results of the settings can be seen by following the link. If you did everything correctly, the status “Waiting for installation of MX records” will change to “Connected”.

Pay attention! In some cases, hosting providers integrate settings for the most popular services, incl. and for Yandex.Mail, in this case the setting is simply a matter of checking the box in the required field and saving the changes.

After setting up MX records, you can go to the My Domains page and make sure the settings are correct.

If a domain is delegated to Yandex, its functionality will be ensured by the company’s servers.

The setup consists of two stages of editing on the Yandex side and on the side of the name registrar or hosting provider.

To delegate, you need to go to the My Domains page, select a domain for delegation to Yandex, follow the “DNS Editor” link and make sure that all the necessary data is included in the list of DNS records.

Important! If any entry is missing, add it using the appropriate button.

On the domain registrar side, you need to change the NS settings of the domain, specifying dns1.yandex.net and dns2.yandex.net as the primary and secondary DNS servers, respectively.

If your registrar interface has fields for IP addresses, they should be left blank.

After some time, your domain will be delegated to Yandex. To do this, visit the My Domains page.
