How to increase FPS in computer games? Program to speed up games.

Do you often notice when playing that your picture slows down, as if the monitor freezes for 1-2 seconds? If not, then you most likely have a very powerful one. If yes, then the situation can be assessed exactly the opposite. All “brakes” in games are related to the number of FPS (Frames Per Second), that is, the number of frames per second produced by the video card on the monitor screen. For films, the optimal number of FPS is always 23-25 frames, and in games - 50-60 (in some projects, especially those ported from consoles or even console exclusives, the usual number of FPS is 30 frames).

The number of FPS in the game directly depends on the power of your computer. First of all, this concerns the computing power of the video card and processor, as well as RAM (random access) memory. Naturally, the higher the FPS in the game, the more coordinated gameplay is provided to the gamer. Apart from these factors, the frame rate also depends on your monitor. If your system settings are set to 60 Hz, then the maximum number of frames will be 60, if 75 - then 75, and so on. Nowadays, video game developers strive for perfection in the graphical component of their projects, and therefore, with each game, the system requirements for your computer become more and more. Many players are simply not able to upgrade their PC every year, and therefore they have to be content with medium and low settings, lack of anti-aliasing, tessellation and other graphical delights of video games.

What to do if you don’t have money for a quality upgrade of your personal computer? The answer is quite simple and banal - buying a console. The fact is that the current Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are identical in price to top-end video cards. Based on this, it is easier to buy a console once and enjoy spending time in the virtual world without any difficulties, rather than throwing a considerable amount of money on powerful computers. Of course, for wealthy gamers, the best choice will still be a top-end PC, because it is capable of reproducing all the beauty of graphics in every detail using DirectX 11 settings, which, unfortunately, you will not see on the current generation of consoles. Also, the balance in favor of choosing a console is tipped by a large number of console exclusives (Red Dead Redemption, Heavy Rain, Halo and others), which will probably never visit a PC. And finally, some statistics: in the USA, Japan and some Western European countries the number of console players is close to 90%, which cannot be said about Russia.

If you are still a devoted PC fan, but cannot slightly upgrade it, then FPS in games can be increased in several ways. We will describe the most effective of them.

So, first one. It consists of detailed configuration of your video card for gaming mode. Your task is simple: go to the control panel of your video card (ATI or Nvidia) and set maximum gaming performance. The second method is your video card and DirectX libraries. As a rule, this helps to increase the FPS in the game by 5-10 frames. If the above actions did not help, then it is worth intervening in the system itself: disabling all unnecessary services for the functioning of Windows and other little things that “clog” the RAM of your PC. If you are using an antivirus, then stop it before entering the game, as it consumes a large amount of PC resources. This is all. Nothing helped? This means that you have only one option - modernization of outdated parts. By the way, in order to see the FPS in the game, you need to download the appropriate program. Examples of these could be GameBooster, FPSTools, Fraps and others like them, of which there are now countless numbers on the Internet.

Finally, let's talk about one more thing. The concept of FPS described in our article should not be confused with the video game genre. FPS games are, by the way, one of the most popular genres in the gaming world. Such as First Person Shooter. Don't confuse these concepts!

Probably every computer user has encountered stuttering in different games. Anything can provoke braking:

  • insufficient amount of RAM;
  • overloading the computer with running applications;
  • low video card performance.

Performance and fps in games

In general, how is video card performance measured? Speaking in plain language, without technical details, then for most gamers performance is expressed in the number of frames shown per second, this is fps.

The higher the value of this indicator, the smoother and better quality the picture on the screen. You can use the Fraps program as an fps measuring device. It is designed to record video from the screen. Even if you are not going to record anything, it will display fps in any game in the corner of the screen.

How to increase FPS in games - installing drivers for a video card

Before you move on to setting up your video card settings, you need to update your drivers. The performance of the video card depends on the drivers. Outdated drivers change the picture beyond recognition.

How to increase FPS in games - NVIDIA settings

If NVIDIA drivers are installed on your computer, then to configure them you need to right-click anywhere on the desktop and select “NVIDIA Control Panel” in the context menu that opens.

We are interested in the “manage 3d parameters” tab. It should be on the left side of the settings column. It is in this window that we will set the optimal settings.

Please note that the order of the options below may differ and it is impossible to guess how something will open for you. Therefore, we will consider only the basic options that are available in all NVIDIA drivers.

  • Vertical synchronization V-Sync. This parameter greatly affects the performance of the video card. It is recommended to disable it.
  • Anisotropic filtering. It directly affects the quality of texture display. It needs to be turned off.
  • Antialiasing – turn off.
  • Extension limitation – disable.
  • Triple buffering – enable.
  • Enable scalable textures - no.
  • Texture filtering (optimization) – enable.
  • Texture filtering (quality) – set to “highest performance”.

After completing the settings, save all this and exit. Once you enter the game, you will find that fps will increase by approximately 20%. This will allow you to easily play games that your computer could not handle before. By the way, the image quality may deteriorate slightly after making changes to the settings, but the picture will move more evenly and faster than before.

Useful software to increase fps in games

In this section we will look at useful software, the use of which will allow you to properly configure the OS.

  • Starter is a program that allows you to remove/add startup programs and control running processes. It can also be used to start and disable Windows services - this is very important for optimizing the system.
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus is the best anti-virus in the world. The only drawback is the maximum use of computer resources. Using it will only slow down games.
  • Advanced SystemCare Pro is a very powerful tool designed to optimize your system. Designed to clean the registry, clean disks and increase productivity.

Cleaning the system to increase fps in games

Cleaning the system consists of:

  • Disk and registry defragmentation.
  • Removing unused programs from auto downloads.
  • Cleaning and fixing disk errors.

Licensed games are the key to high-quality graphics on weak PCs

As you may have noticed, games can come out crude, with glitches and bugs. There is one effective way to solve this problem - purchase a licensed version of the game. There are no viruses here and the latest patch will always download itself. Just convenience. The cost of such games is not that high, the main thing is to buy them in the right place.

In conclusion, I would like to note that the more you increase the fps in the game, the more the processor is loaded. Do not abuse your computer's load while playing the game. Everything should be in moderation.

Game speed is the key to success. The faster your system, the better. But if you have a weak PC, you can increase the FPS in PUBG and set the optimal settings for better visibility - this way you will notice opponents in no time, and, therefore, get an advantage.

FPS (Frames per Second) - this parameter shows how many frames per second your system produces. The higher it is, the smoother the game goes. Basically, the better your system settings, the better and faster the game will be.

If you want to get a fair advantage over other players, aim for the highest score - it is impossible to fight well when everything on the screen is laggy and glitchy.

In this article we will look in detail at how to increase FPS in PUBG using different methods: both using the game settings and using third-party programs. You will also learn what works and what doesn't. So, if you are looking for PUBG launch options to increase FPS, then you will be disappointed - the developers have closed this loophole.

How to find out your FPS?

First you need to enable the FPS counter in the game so that you can track this indicator. It's easy to do:

  • Click on the “Steam” button in the upper left corner of the program;
  • Select "Settings", then "In Game";
  • Find the “Frame Rate Display” box and select a place where it will be convenient for you to display this figure.

Using this procedure, you can make it show FPS in PUBG - but you can see it in Dota, CS:go, and other games that you launch through Steam.

You can also use third-party programs - for example, Fraps. This is not prohibited by the anti-cheat rules. This method will especially appeal to those who play with the Mail.ru version.

How to limit FPS

Someone may need to limit the FPS in PUBG. This can be done by editing the configuration file:

  • Go to the folder “C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Local\TslGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor”. By default, "AppData" is hidden. To see it, read this guide. Or watch the video;
  • Open the "GameUserSettings.ini" file using Notepad;
  • Find the value “FrameRateLimit=ХХХ”. Instead of X's I had a thousand;
  • Set the value you need.

Carry out this manipulation at your own peril and risk. It is unclear how the new anti-cheat will respond to such an action.

NVidia settings for all players

Before we get into the game, it's worth working with the capabilities that the video card offers. For those who use Radeon, there is obviously nothing to catch in this section.

First, open the Nvidia panel - you can do this by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting the appropriate item. There, open the “Manage 3D Settings” link, and then the “Program Settings” tab.

You need to select PUBG from the drop-down list. If it is not there, then click the “Add” button. Next, specify the path to the game .exe files - it is located in the folder “F:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\PUBG\TslGame\Binaries\Win64”. Or simply select "TslGame" if the system prompts.

  • Vertical sync pulse - turn off;
  • OpenGL rendering GPU - auto-select;
  • Pre-trained personnel - 4;
  • Shader caching - disable;
  • Maximum quantity in advance... - 1;
  • Stream optimization - enable;
  • Power management mode - maximum performance mode is preferred;
  • Triple buffering - disable;
  • Texture filtering - anisotropic... - enable;
  • /**/ - quality - high productivity;
  • /**/ - trilinear... - off.

These points will increase system performance and allow your computer not to strain too much due to textures and shaders. For owners of a weak video card, such measures will be a lifeline.

Settings in the game - what is responsible for what?

Now let's look at the PUBG graphics settings, which you can change in the game itself. The developers have rolled out a fairly extensive list, by working some magic on it, you can significantly increase your FPS.

The “Graphics” tab and its “Advanced Settings” subsection are our everything. Everything that is located here directly affects the quality of the picture. And, therefore, on productivity.

  • Anti-aliasing - affects the “ladders” that appear at the edges of textures. The lower the value, the scarier - and more angular - the world around you, but the higher the FPS.
  • Shadows - determines the quality of shadows. The lower the value, the more blurry and angular they will be. It is impossible to remove them completely. Do not try to do this through the config, since with the new anti-cheat, any changes in the game files can lead to an account ban.
  • Textures - determines the resolution of textures.
  • Effects - affects the beauty of explosions, bullet hits, and so on.
  • Foliage - The quality of leaves displayed on trees. It is much easier to spot the enemy with a low value. Does not affect grass.
  • Visibility range - changes the distance from which the system begins to process objects in 3D.
  • Motion Blur - Enables or disables motion blur when the camera is rotated. If it adds a cinematic feel in single-player games, then in an online shooter it only reduces visibility, definitely turn it off.

Let's look at some parameters in more detail.

Screen scale

This setting affects the frame resolution that your computer will render.

Let's say your main resolution is 1600x900. If you set the screen scale in PUBG to 100%, the image will be rendered at the same resolution. If 120%, then the render resolution will be 1920x1080, and then the system will compress the image to 1600x900.

This approach will remove ladders, improve the overall image quality, but increase processing time and impact performance.

If you set it to less than one hundred percent, then the load on the video card will drop significantly and the FPS will increase. But the picture will also seem soapy.

Post-processing - removing “soap”

If you want to know how to remove soap in PUBG, then this section will help you. Also be sure to read the previous subsection about screen scale.

Post-processing in PUBG affects the processes that occur with the image after it has been rendered: that is, these are additional decorations - natural effects, rays of light and blurring of the background (becomes noticeable at the “High” and “Ultra” settings).

If you want beautiful sun rays and cinematic effects, activate it. Other times it's just a voracious FPS eater.

An option that synchronizes the monitor frequency with the FPS produced by the video card. In most cases it is not worth using. Turn it on if you have similar picture violations:

Often this setting creates lag, increases mouse latency, and takes away your advantage.

If vertical sync in PUBG does not work, then watch this video:

You will need to go to the Nvidia settings for PUBG and enable the “Vertical sync” option there. Detailed instructions are in the very first section of this article.

Please note that changes to the game files can lead to a ban - say “thank you” to the new anti-cheat system.

Settings for weak PCs

The optimal PUBG graphics settings for weak PCs are the lowest settings, and “Visibility range” is simply “low”. It is better to set the textures to medium, but only if this does not greatly affect the performance.

  • We turn off motion blur and vertical sync without a doubt - we don’t need them.
  • Anti-aliasing - disabling this parameter has virtually no effect on FPS, but it turns on ladders. I recommend experimenting.
  • It is better to leave the screen scale at one hundred. If the FPS still drops significantly, then try lowering the slider to 80-90 - evaluate the type of graphics and estimate whether you can play like this and notice your opponents.
  • Keep post-processing to a minimum.
  • Resource-intensive parameters such as effects, shadows and foliage should be reduced to a minimum - this will not affect the gameplay, and it may even be easier to notice attackers. True, “low” shadows look very strange indoors. But if you want to set up PUBG on a weak computer, you must be prepared to make sacrifices.
  • Visibility range - it all depends on your playing style. If you like 4x scopes, then set the average value. If you play without scopes with magnification, you can set the minimum.

Optimal settings for visibility

Need to see your enemies better? Or do you just want to find the optimal settings for a comfortable and enjoyable game? Let's figure it out. By the way, for those who want to notice hits on opponents, there is a special command that will allow.

If the advice for people with "buckets" is quite simple - turn everything off and play - then choosing recommendations for people with more powerful machines is quite difficult, because each case needs to be dealt with separately. But let's look at the top streamers who clearly understand the game.

We will analyze graphics settings for better visibility in PUBG based on Shroud’s configuration - he certainly easily notices everyone and everything, and then just as easily destroys them. The parameters of other top players are in the article at the link.

  • You don't need vertical sync - turn it off along with blur. These features will only reduce your effectiveness in battle.
  • Antialiasing has almost no impact on performance. But it may interfere with enjoying the world of Erangel or Miramar. Set it to high.
  • Leave the screen scale at one hundred - lower will be soapy, a higher value will negatively affect the FPS.
  • Post-processing and effects are the lowest.
  • Shadows and foliage are also the lowest. This ear trick will help you spot enemies at a great distance.
  • Brightness - here focus on your taste. Shroud puts it at 50, other players recommend a value between 60 and 70.

Visibility range in PUBG

This parameter controls the distance at which the system begins rendering 3D houses and trees. It does not affect grass, shadows, or players. Set it to "low".

Shroud prefers the "Low" setting. He constantly takes top places, so believe me, you will only start noticing opponents when they fly in.

Remove grass

Surely you would like to know how to remove grass in Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. This would not only increase the FPS - and quite significantly - but would also allow you to notice adversaries sneaking and crawling in your direction.

But you'll have to roll your lip. The developers are trying to bring their brainchild to the standards of the eSports world, so they remove any opportunity to gain an unfair advantage.

True, the grass is still rendered at a fairly short distance. So, with the help of a four- to eight-fold scope, you can easily notice how some kind of net is sneaking into the field - he will believe that he is hidden from enemy eyes, because he will see the grass around him; for you, the grass around the enemy will not be rendered, which will make the destruction of the adversary only a matter of technique.

First person field of view

In English this parameter is called FOV. Zooming in will cause your viewing angle to increase, allowing you to keep an eye on what's happening to your sides - but it can also reduce your FPS.

The pictures show the effect of changing the FOV in the game. Whether you need it or not - decide for yourself. Shroud sets the value to 102.

Improve Visibility and Clarity Without Reshade

As you know, the current anti-cheat considers the Reshade program to be a cheat (so quickly), so it cannot be used. But you can increase the clarity of the graphics using the Nvidia Freestyle utility - it is safe because it does not interfere with the game configs.

  • First install the latest NVidia drivers;
  • In the settings, activate the “Enable experimental features” item;
  • Go into the game and press Alt+F3;
  • A menu will appear with three possible presets - select any of them and test. Also, no one is stopping you from using your own settings - the main thing here is the ability to experiment.

Additional improvements

Launch Options 2018

While the game was in the Early Access stage, people increased FPS by manipulating the game's launch parameters. I don't argue that this was a great method in May 2017 - but now most of the teams don't work! So don’t try to enter words like “-refresh some number”, “maxMem=ХХХ”, “malloc=system” into the field - this will not affect the performance of the game in any way.

Do you know what will happen? Command "-sm4". It lowers the level of shaders, which will significantly increase your FPS.

To apply this launch option in PUBG, open Steam, right-click the game, select Properties, then Set Launch Options. In the field, enter “-sm4” without quotes. In the end, everything should look like in the picture:

How to enable windowed mode

First, pay attention to the “Display Mode” item - it is with its help that you can launch PUBG in windowed mode. Simply select the appropriate value in the drop-down menu.

You can also lower the resolution. A long time ago, when new games ran poorly on my old computer, I did exactly this - the FPS increased, but the picture quality suffered: everything seemed too big and blurry. For a network game this can be critical, so I would not recommend it.

Disable scaling

  • Go to the folder where the “.exe” game file is stored - “Steam\SteamApps\common\PUBG\TslGame\Binaries\Win64”;
  • Right-click on “TslGame.exe”, select “Properties”, “Compatibility”;
  • Check the “Disable image scaling on high screen resolution” checkbox. A drop-down menu will appear at the bottom. Select the first item.

For some players, this move gives 10 to 20 extra frames per second.

Disable Steam Overlay

  1. Open Steam.
  2. Right click on PUBG.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Uncheck "Enable Steam overlay in game."

You won't be able to chat with friends, but you will play more comfortably.

Turn off character rendering in inventory

  • Go to the game settings, “Game Progress” tab;
  • Select “Display character on inventory screen”;
  • Set it to "off".

Now when you open your backpack, there will be no frame drops. This step will not help increase FPS in PUBG very much, but it will make the game a little more enjoyable, especially in those moments when you are equipping your hero.

Optimal PUBG graphics settings for weak PCs - how to increase FPS in 2018, improve visibility and graphics

Introduction

This tutorial was made with the help of these two tutorials: and

I have FULL rights to create this guide, I contacted the creators.

Well, I don't even know where to start...

Let's start with Launch Options.

Launch options

Launch Options is a useful tool for quickly adding settings.

To access Launch Options, go to Library> Right-click on the game we need (in our case, it’s Team Fortress 2) > Properties > Launch Options

We enter there:

-dxlevel 80 -novid -nocrashdialog -nojoy -windowed -noborder -w 800 -h 600 -sillygibs -useforcedmparms -threads 2 -nod3d9ex -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -high

-dxlevel 80- changes the DirectX level to 8, which worsens the graphics, but increases FPS (Frames Per Second). There are several options for changing the DirectX level, the maximum is 98 (9.8), the lowest is 80 (8).
-dxlevel 98
-dxlevel 95
-dxlevel 90
-dxlevel 81
-dxlevel 80

-nocrashdialog- When the game crashes, a message, for example “memory could not be read”, will not appear.

-nojoy- Removes joystick settings.

-windowed- puts the game in "Windowed Mode".

-noborder- removes borders in Windowed Mode.

-w 800 -h 600- Sets the game size to 800x600. (The smaller the size, the higher the FPS).
Note: To find out what size your screen is,

-sillygibs- When Pyrosenia Glasses are worn, pieces from the corpses of dead players (for example from rockets, grenades or sticky notes) will still be the same as without the glasses.

-useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd- Disables Mouse Acceleration and uses mouse settings from Windows Settings.

-nod3d9ex- Reduces memory consumption and speeds up switching between windows (alt+tab).

-high- Sets priority to High. (You can do this yourself through the Task Manager).

System Settings

Let's go to Start > Execute...> Enter msconfig> Click OK.

Note: If there is no button Execute..., then go to Start, right-click on an empty space, properties, Start Menu, look for Run command and put a tick on it.

After we have entered msconfig, go to the section, all we need here is to check the box "No GUI".

Let's go to Services, Put a tick on Don't display Microsoft services and uncheck everything that we don’t need, uncheck all communication programs, for example Skype, Discord, etc., you can completely leave the programs for graphs. cards, for example AMD/NVIDIA/Intel, leave Anti-Virus, and leave Adobe and Java for updates.

- this is when, after turning on the computer/laptop, programs immediately open, which loads the computer/laptop.

Here we uncheck the boxes in the same way as in Services. There is no need to explain anything special.

Click Apply and restart the device.

Performance

Let's go to Start> right click on Computer > Properties> Advanced System Settings > About Performance click on Options...

Here we remove absolutely everything except Show thumbnails instead of icons And Smooth out jagged screen fonts

Click Apply and wait.

Task Manager

By using Task Manager We will increase the priority of the game and eliminate programs that we do not need. (By the way, in the Task Manager you can get rid of all kinds of hidden programs and viruses (for example, WinLocker) (^;)

Press the key combination ctrl+alt+delete, and click on Task Manager

All we need here is a Section Processes, here we end the processes of programs that we do not need, Click on one process and then click End Process

We increase the priority of the game, look for "hl2.exe", right-click on the name, point to Priority, select High, the above is not recommended.

Note: The overlay in the game also reduces FPS, so it is recommended to turn it off, or lower its priority. Looking for it in the Task Manager GameOverlayUI.exe, right-click on the name, point to Priority, select Short.

Power supply

Go to Start > Control Panel > Power Options.
Choose High Performance.

Antivirus

During the game, it is better to disable the Anti-Virus, since during the game the Anti-Virus checks files, which loads the computer/laptop. You've played and you can turn it back on.

And also prevent Anti-Virus from scanning all files in a folder Steam. Especially the folder Steam/appcache/stats, because this folder contains files with all your statistics in games, it is updated every time you play.

Team Fortress 2 Settings

Do you think that I’m going to tell you now that you need to set the settings to low? But no, we'll go even lower...

Are you ready?

Graphics deterioration

Install the FPS config called
(Config is a text file containing several console commands.)
Insert the file from the folder Steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/cfg.

We install a mod that replaces character models with very low (well, very nasty...)
We paste all the files from the archive into the folder.

Install a mod that makes the textures clean. (By the way, this mod can be considered a "cheat" on Slender Fortress servers.)
We paste all the folders from the archive into the folder Steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom.

Install a mod that removes all the hats. By the way, the mod is updated very often, namely after each update.
Insert the file from the archive into the folder Steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom.

All mods in one archive:3

In my archive, all the information is written in the text file “Read_Me.txt”, how and what to install, answers to questions, etc.
(used twitter (t.co) because Steam blocks Mediafire links...)

Let's sum it up

Playing on several servers, my FPS was above 60, which is very good, because my laptop is not the best (quite a good example for this guide (^;).

Here I took a couple of screenshots where there were more than 60 FPS, in the upper right corner you can see the number of FPS.
Note: When I took screenshots, the game froze for about 0.5 seconds, while the FPS decreased, I tried to post exactly those screenshots where there were more than 60 FPS, in the game FPS was much more than in the screenshots, somewhere more 100 FPS.

I deleted a couple of mods from my archive for myself, because because of one mod my game crashed.
The screenshots included mods: Clean TF2, No Hats Mod, Oldschool Pack.

How to increase FPS in games?

One of the main parameters that affects the comfort of the game is the FPS value, which means the number of frames per second (read more in the article). Accordingly, the higher this value, the more often the player receives information about changes on the screen and can take appropriate measures in time (move out of the line of fire, give information to the team, use the item first, etc.).

Every player has at some point had to look for different options on how to increase fps in games, since “freezes” during the game are not always associated with a weak Internet or low performance of a personal computer. You can check fps in a particular game using console commands - read about this in the article. If this value is below 60, then use the methods given below to overclock the FPS.

Hardware methods to increase FPS

You can overclock fps without touching the settings of the game itself in the following ways:

  • replacement of computer parts;
  • overclocking the video card and processor using hidden processes;
  • Installing fresh video card drivers.

Replacing parts is a fairly simple, but at the same time financially unprofitable procedure. A new video card, RAM, processor and motherboard can cost, on average, $500.

Overclocking a video card is carried out by increasing the frequencies of the memory and core, but these settings must be used with caution so that this does not lead to overheating and subsequent failure of parts. We recommend using universal programs: RivaTuner or PowerStrip. To overclock the processor, we recommend using the video tutorial.

Also, installing fresh drivers will allow you to make the video card work at maximum and increase fps in games. You can download them from the official websites: NVIDIA and Radeon.

Gaming methods to increase fps

Do not also forget that the maximum graphics settings, which overload the video card, are not always relevant. In order to increase fps in games, go to the game settings and do the following things:

  • in the video settings, detail textures, lighting, shadows, viewing range, effects, etc. set it to minimum;
  • disable anisotropic filtering;
  • disable vertical sync;
  • enable multi-core processing.

Read more about fine-tuning the game in the article. You will find instructions on how to disable vertical sync in the article.
