Everything you need to know about installing Android apps and games on Lumia smartphones. Full Android on Windows Mobile devices

There are many ways to run Android applications on desktops and laptops. We have already discussed one of these methods earlier.

For less experienced users, the development team has prepared a convenient Bluestacks program. This application emulates the Android interface on your computer and allows you to run any game or program for the “green robot”.

You can install games or programs for Android directly from Google Play and other stores, or download a downloaded apk file. First, we need to install Bluestacks itself; to do this, follow the link and select the file for your OS version:

At the moment, support for Windows XP/Vista/7, OS X is announced, as well as a special version for the Windows 8 interface.

Installing Bluestacks takes just a few seconds, after which a shortcut to launch the program will appear on your desktop. Double-click on the new shortcut and see a welcome screen with a list of recommended applications.

When you click on the My Apps button, you are taken to the tab of already installed programs, from where you can launch them.

Changing the Bluestacks interface language

For convenience, the Bluestacks interface can be easily switched to Russian. To do this, click on the settings button located in the lower right corner of the program:

And in the menu that appears, select Change Language:

In the list of languages, select the required one, for example, “Russian”. After which the Bluestacks interface will be displayed in Russian.

Installing an application in Bluestacks

Let's try installing some Android application, for example Instagram. To do this, click on the blue search button:

And in the window that appears, enter the query, in our case “instagram”:

Initial setup

Opposite the desired application, click on the “Install” or “Install” button. When you launch Bluestacks for the first time, we need to set up a Google Play account. In the window that appears, click “Continue”:

And add your Google account. If you are not registered there yet, then you need to get a new one.

After entering your data, click on the “Login” button or the “Enter” key:

After successfully completing these steps, you will see the following window:

Click the “Finish setup” button.

The next step is to set up the 1-Click Sync application, which allows you to synchronize your programs between all Android devices.

Click the “Continue” button, and in the “Proceed” window that appears:

After logging in, in the window that appears, click “Done” and then “Finish”. This completes the initial setup of Bluestacks. Click “Let’s go!”:

And we see the Google Play welcome message. Click “Continue”:

Installing the application

We are returned to the search screen, where we must again click on the “Install” or “Install” button opposite the required application:

In the window that appears, select the application store from where we will install and click on the program icon:

If we chose to install from Google Play (third column), on our first visit we need to agree to the “Terms of Use” by clicking the “Accept” button (the “I want to receive newsletter” checkbox can be unchecked).

After which the Instagram page on Google Play opens, from where you can complete the installation.

When selecting the 1Mobile store (first column in the screenshot above), you do not need to perform any unnecessary actions. Downloading and installing the application will begin instantly. After which it will be located on the “My Apps” tab.

Where can you run it from?

If you have any questions, ask them in the comments. The instructions will be updated.

In February 2015, Microsoft officially announced the release of a new version of its mobile operating system - Windows 10. To date, the new “OS” has already received several global updates. However, with each major addition, more and more old devices become outsiders and stop receiving official support from developers.

Official installation of Windows 10 Mobile

Officially, this OS can only be installed on a limited list of smartphones with an earlier version of the operating system. However, in practice, the list of gadgets that can accommodate version 10 of Windows is much wider. Not only Nokia Lumia owners can rejoice, but also users of devices with a different operating system, for example, Android.

Windows Phone models that will receive the official update to Windows 10 Mobile:

    Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL,

    BLU Win HD LTE X150Q,

    Lumia 635 (1GB),

    Lumia 636 (1GB),

    Lumia 638 (1GB),

  • MCJ Madosma Q501,

If your device is on this list, updating to a new OS version will not be difficult. However, it is worth approaching this issue carefully.

If your device is no longer receiving official updates, you can still update it to the latest version of the OS. This method is relevant for the following models:

    Lumia 635 (512 MB),

The new version of Windows is not optimized for these models. You take full responsibility for the incorrect operation of the system.

  1. Do Interop Unlock (unlocks installation of applications directly from the computer). To do this, install the Interop Tools application: you can easily find it in the Microsoft store. Launch the application and select This Device. Open the program menu, scroll down and go to the Interop Unlock section. In this section, enable the Restore NDTKSvc option.

    In the Interop Unlock section, enable the Restore NDTKSvc function

  2. Restart your smartphone.

    Launch Interop Tools again, select This Device, go to the Interop Unlock tab. Activate the Interop/Cap Unlock and New Capability Engine Unlock checkboxes. The third checkbox - Full Filesystem Access - is intended to enable full access to the file system. Don't touch it unnecessarily.

    Activate the checkboxes for Interop/Cap Unlock and New Capability Engine Unlock

    Restart your smartphone.

  3. Turn off automatic app updates in your store settings. To do this, open “Settings” and in the “Update” section next to the “Update applications automatically” line, slide the lever to the “Off” position.

    You can disable automatic updates in the “Store”

  4. Go to Interop Tools again, select the This Device section and open Registry Browser.
  5. Navigate to the following branch: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo.

    You can install Windows 10 Mobile on unsupported Lumia using the Interop Tools application

  6. Record or take screenshots of the PhoneManufacturer, PhoneManufacturerModelName, PhoneModelName, and PhoneHardwareVariant values.
  7. Change your values to new ones. For example, for a Lumia 950 XL device with two SIM cards, the changed values will look like this:
    • PhoneManufacturerModelName: RM-1116_11258;
    • PhoneModelName: Lumia 950 XL Dual SIM;
    • PhoneHardwareVariant: RM-1116.

    • PhoneManufacturerModelName: RM-1085_11302;
    • PhoneModelName: Lumia 950 XL;
    • PhoneHardwareVariant: RM-1085.
  9. Restart your smartphone.
  10. Go to Settings - Update & Security - Insider Program and enable receiving preview builds. Your smartphone may need to be restarted. After rebooting, make sure the Fast circle is selected.

Installing Windows 10 on Android

Before a full reinstallation of the operating system, it is strongly recommended to determine the tasks that the updated device should perform:

If you still need to have a full-fledged “ten” on board, before installing a new OS, make sure that your device has enough space for a new heavy system. Pay attention to the characteristics of the device's processor. Windows can be installed only on processors with ARM architecture (does not support Windows 7) and i386 (supports Windows 7 and higher).

Now let's move on to the installation:

  1. Download the sdl.zip archive and the special sdlapp program in .apk format.
  2. Install the application on your smartphone and extract the archive data to the SDL folder.
  3. Copy the same directory to the system image file (usually c.img).
  4. Run the installation utility and wait until the process completes.

If your smartphone receives official updates, there will be no problems installing the new OS version. Users of earlier Lumia models will also be able to update their smartphone without any problems. The situation is much more deplorable for Android users, because their smartphone is simply not designed to install Windows, which means that if a new OS is forcibly installed, the owner of the phone runs the risk of getting a fashionable, but very useless “brick.”

Ever since the announcement of the future update from Microsoft, the name of which was not yet known (we are talking about Windows 10 Mobile), there have been rumors on the Internet that users will be able to install Android applications on their Windows Phone devices, for which Microroft will release a special emulator . As time passed, various debates about this controversial possible solution grew, and this lasted until official details became known about Windows 10 Mobile, which does not have an emulator, but does have a developer program with which you can easily port your applications from competing platforms on Windows.
Today it became known that the latest build of Windows 10 Mobile contains all the tools for installing and running APK files (Android applications have this permission), and at the same time instructions were written on how to install and use applications for the OS from Google on its Lumia. Below you can see detailed instructions on this matter.

ATTENTION

All further actions that you take following our instructions, you do at your own peril and risk. We do not recommend performing these scams due to the fact that the method is new and has not yet been fully studied, and the preview version of Windows 10 Mobile is not stable. But, due to the fact that there will probably be a large number of geeks among Trashbox readers, we simply have to publish these instructions.

Necessary

To perform these methods, you will need a computer with Windows 8 or higher on board (although for some users these methods work on earlier OSes), and a smartphone running the latest versions of Windows 10 Mobile. Also, the developer of this manual says that at the moment only the following smartphones are supported: Lumia 435, 635 (1 GB RAM), 730, 820, 830, 920, 925, 928, 929, 930 and 1520.

Method 1 - installation via the APKToWin10M program

The first method is much simpler than the second; you can install Android files in literally “2 clicks”.

Instructions

  1. Download and install a program called APKToWin10M
  2. On your smartphone, go to the following sections: “Update and Security” -> “For Developers”, where you must check the box next to “Developer Mode”, and then activate “Device Detection”. Remember the pairing code that appears.
  3. Run the program downloaded in step 1, where in the second column select the connection type (via USB or Wi-Fi) and enter the code shown to you in the second step of the instructions.
  4. Drag the downloaded file with .apk permission (installation files of Android applications have this permission) into the third column of the program, then click the “Install” button.

Method 2 - manual installation

Currently, there is no guarantee that absolutely any Android application will be compatible with your smartphone, what level of integration it will have with the system and notifications. We recommend, if you decide, to try installing Twitter. If you have any errors or incomprehensibility, then you can read a possible solution to the problems

The main disadvantage of using devices with the Windows Phone operating system is the rather limited set of mobile applications. If the various games and utilities available for Android smartphones have long won the recognition of users, then The assortment offered to owners of devices with a tiled OS still raises many complaints.

In connection with this situation, many people have a question about how to install Android on Windows Phone devices in order to gain access to more advanced features. Currently There are two ways to achieve this goal:

  • flashing the device to initially boot the Android OS;
  • using special tools that allow you to install and run Android applications directly in the Windows environment.

How to install Android on your smartphone with Windows Background?

There are two main methods for using firmware:

  • direct installation of the Android OS into the memory of the mobile device and launch it when turned on;
  • placement of the firmware on an external memory card and activation from the Windows environment.

Will be useful

Regardless of the option chosen, further return to loading the standard operating system is possible only when restoring data from a backup copy. Therefore, before starting the transition to Android, we make sure to back up your information. This procedure is performed using built-in Windows system functions or external utilities (you can use Titanium Backup or another similar program).

Next, you need to download and find the version intended for installation on a mobile device of a specific model. The name of the main operating system file that will be installed in the smartphone memory, has the form “Manufacturer-Model-Resolution-Day-Month-Year.NBH”, that is, first the brand and model of the device are indicated (in text), then the maximum screen resolution (in numbers) and the release date of this assembly.

In addition to the .NBH file, the firmware contains the following main elements:

  • androidinstall.tar – OS file system manager;
  • androidupdate.tar – Android update file;
  • Initrd.gz. – is responsible for loading the OS located on external media (activation from an SD card);
  • Haret.exe – initiates the system startup process;
  • Zimage – directly the core of the Android OS;
  • Default.txt is a boot script that specifies the main system startup parameters.

Which mobile OS do you think is the most convenient to use?

The method is the simplest, but is fraught with frequent freezes and spontaneous restarts of the device.

Please note

Although booting is done from external media, returning to normal operation of “native” Windows is possible only after restoring from a backup copy; the standard “turn off/on” will not help here.

To activate Android from external media create any directory in the root of the SD card, copy all the firmware files there and run “Haret.exe”.
