Google earth online viewing. Google Maps (Google maps)

Satellite maps from Google are popular. This is a convenient and practical tool that allows you to view the planet at any scale. The satellite image reveals details: small streets and alleys near the house, cities, countries and continents. This became possible thanks to satellite imagery.
Earlier to receive pictures from space filming was used with a television camera with a signal transmitted to the station or filming with a special photographic camera, the images of which were displayed on film. Today, modern space technologies make it possible to look at the planet thanks to the scanning mechanism built into satellites.

Satellite Map: Applications and Purposes

Currently, real-time satellite world map is used in many fields: analyzing the state of agricultural fields, forests, oceans and identifying the location of friends using a smartphone. Google satellite map is used for these resources.
The main purpose of using satellite images of the world from Google remains navigation. The website features a world diagram showing continents, states, cities, streets and highways. This helps you navigate the area, appreciate its landscape, and simply travel around the Earth without leaving your home.

Quality of online world map images from satellite

The highest resolution images are available for the largest cities in Ukraine, America, Russia, Belarus, Asia, Europe and Oceania with a population of more than a million people. For settlements with fewer inhabitants, images are available in limited quantities and of poorer quality.
Despite this, everyone can take a detailed look at the territory of their home, nearby streets, and look at photos of the planet from almost any point. The pictures reveal the placement:

  • cities, towns, villages,
  • streets, alleys
  • rivers, seas, lakes, forest zones, deserts, etc.

Good quality cartographic images allow you to examine the landscape of the selected area in detail.

Google map capabilities from satellite:

Google satellite maps help you see things in detail that are difficult to assess on regular charts. Satellite images preserve the natural shape of an object, its size and colors. Before printing and circulation, ordinary, classic maps undergo editorial elaboration to match the scale, as a result of which the natural colors of the area and shapes of objects are lost. The cartographic images retain their naturalness.
In addition, you can quickly find the city of interest in any country on the map. The diagram has a column in which you can indicate the country, city, and even house number in Russian. In a second, the diagram will zoom in and display the location of the given object and those located next to it.

Satellite world map mode

Satellite images have the ability to switch to world map mode. It helps to view the territory on the surface of the planet, get as close as possible to the selected object, and consider the layout of the location. This mode allows you to quickly and conveniently plan your trip route, move around the city, find attractions, etc.
By specifying the house number, the diagram will display its location relative to the city center in a second. It is also possible to plot a route from the initially specified object. To do this, click on the appropriate button and enter the address.

Map of the earth from satellite to website

the site allows users to use a satellite map in real time completely free of charge. For convenience, the map is divided into countries. To search for a specific city or get acquainted with the area of the state, click on the one you are interested in and begin your “travel”. The service is constantly improving, work is underway to post high-resolution satellite images of small settlements.
Good quality online satellite cartographic images posted on our website help you quickly find the desired object, examine the landscape, estimate the distances between cities, and find out the location of forests, rivers, seas and oceans. With Voweb, traveling around the world has become even more accessible.

A program from Google for viewing satellite maps of the Earth and space.

Remember how the great writer Victor Hugo described Paris from a bird's eye view? Thanks to modern technology and the Internet, you can easily make such an unusual journey without even leaving your home. Moreover, you will be able to take virtual excursions around the whole world, and then also look into the depths of the sea. And if this is not enough, then you can go into space to explore the Moon or Mars, for example. All these features are provided to us by a relatively small free program. Google Earth.

This program is a client of the Internet service of the same name and allows you to view, download and edit satellite images of any area on the globe. In addition, in the latest version Google Earth Integration with such servers as Youtube and Panoramio has been improved, and it has also become possible to get acquainted with some historical events and look at the bottom of the ocean. Another innovation is the function of video recording your route and viewing ready-made excursions.

In addition to the free version, there is also a paid analogue of the program Google Earth Pro. Here's how they differ from each other:

Comparison of the free Google Earth satellite map with its paid version Google Earth Pro

As you can see, there are differences, but they are not so critical. The biggest “trouble” of all is the presence of copyrights and logos Google Earth on saved maps. The maximum resolution of 1000 pixels in most cases will be enough (in the paid version the maximum is 4800 px) to get an idea of the terrain. You can measure area using the Ruler tool and the corresponding mathematical formulas. And instead of the built-in email client, you can use standard Outlook Express or an online service from Google.

Installing Google Earth

There are two options program installation . If you want to download it from the official website, you will be prompted to download a small (about one and a half megabytes) executable file. After launching it, you will be prompted to download all the necessary installation files from the Internet. You will be prompted to install the Google Chrome browser as well. The second option is offline installation (we suggest using it). In this case, all the necessary files are included in the installation distribution, which should be run to install the program.

After the installation process is completed, you will find a shortcut on your desktop, by clicking on which you can launch Google Earth.

A program window and an advice window will open, in which you can learn about some of the possibilities. Google Earth. If you want tips to no longer appear, simply uncheck the box. "Show tips on startup".

Google Earth interface

Now let's look directly at the program window itself.

It consists of several panels and the main window itself, in which maps are displayed. You can control your viewing using the navigation bar (on the right). The slider at the bottom determines the degree of magnification of the map, the “with hand” button allows you to move the map, and the “with eye” button helps you change the viewing angle of the map.

Google Earth Settings

Before you start working with the program, I would advise you to look into its settings. Go to the menu "Tools" and select the item "Settings":

I advise you to pay attention first to the sliders "Relief display quality" And "Overview Map". The higher your Internet connection speed, the higher you can set the quality of the terrain and the size of maps (tiles). The rest of the settings are at your personal discretion :).

Let's close the settings and return to the main program window. The left one is of greatest interest to us. sidebar. It is with its help that you can find a specific locality, manage labels and map layers. It is divided into three corresponding subsections, each of which performs a number of functions.

Search by map

First section - "Search". Here you will see three tabs: “Flight”, “Search for companies” and “Routes”. The first of them provides the ability to quickly find the desired point on the world map (city, village, street, house, etc.). The second tab is very similar to the previous one, but allows you to find specific establishments in a given search area. The most spectacular opportunity is to plot a route between two specified points. We set two points (departure and arrival), press the search button and within a couple of seconds we get a result with a detailed description of the points of the found route. The only condition is that the search is carried out only on already cached maps, so before plotting a route it is worth “developing” all the maps on the way to the layer on which the roads will be visible.

Setting marks

Chapter "Tags" allows you to view information about some places marked on maps. Default in Google Earth contains only one set of labels under a common name "Sightseeing Tour". Click on the plus sign next to the section name and you will see the places you can visit. Let's take a look at the Eiffel Tower, for example. Double-click with the left mouse button on the name of the marker, and we are transported to Paris :). For greater effectiveness, I advise you to include the “3D building” layer in the layers section ;).

Additional layers

And finally, the third section of the sidebar - "Layers". This is where the freedom is :). There is so much to see here... If you like to look at photographs taken in different parts of the world, turn on the layer "Panoramio". Interested in road map - layer "Roads" at your service. If you want to receive information about objects on the map from Wikipedia, activate the corresponding option in the section "More". This is, for example, the current meteorological situation over Europe :)

Google Earth Toolbar

I think there will be no problems with the sidebar, so let's now look at the capabilities of the toolbar:

The first button allows you to hide the sidebar. The next group of buttons help us add one or another element to the map (a mark, a shape, a path, an image or a video tour). Let's look at how this is done using a label as an example. Press the button "Add a label"— a dialog box for adding an object will appear. Select the desired location on the map and edit information about it in the dialog box, then click "Ok". The created label will appear in the list in the side menu.

The next group of buttons allows you to view historical maps of the selected region and change the lighting. Clicking on the button with the image of a planet displays a list of available planets for which maps have been compiled. These are the Earth, Moon and Mars. In addition, you can look at a map of the starry sky (and with reference to terrestrial geographic coordinates).

Ruler

Tool "Ruler" allows you to measure the distance between two points on the map. There are two options for taking measurements. First - "Line"— allows you to measure only the direct path between two specified points. If you want to find out, for example, the distance between two cities along the highway, then select the option "Path" and indicate the broken line of your route.

Saving and forwarding part of a map

The last group of buttons allows you to send the selected part of the map by mail, print it on a printer or view it on an online service Google Earth.

Google Earth Tools

And finally, let’s take a look at one of the program menus, specifically the menu "Tools".

If you have a GPS navigator, then you can synchronize it with the service Google Earth through the appropriate menu. Well, for special “extreme enthusiasts” there is the opportunity to fly an airplane over any place on Earth thanks to flight simulator. We activate the simulator, select the plane, the area over which you want to fly and click "Start Flight". You can control the plane using the mouse, but I advise you to read the help and become familiar with the hot keys for this matter, since the controls are very delicate :). An unforgettable experience is guaranteed!

Even if you didn’t like geography at school, then Google Earth You will spend more than one hour exploring our planet or traveling in space. You will be able to see cities and countries that you have never been to before, and also tell everyone about your city and its attractions. The capabilities of satellites today are simply fantastic. It turns out that there is another equally interesting activity - satellite fishing!
If you have:
1) Satellite dish
2) Computer DVB tuner (DVB-PCI tuner, DVB card)
Then you can go fishing. But what can we catch and what is the point?

And the meaning is this - when sending a request to issue (download) a file, you send a request to a special server, and the answer comes via satellite to the receiving dish. One person sends a request, but anyone can accept it, because the satellite does not know where a specific user is and transmits information to everyone who falls within its coverage area. In order to receive the file, you need special card for receiving signal from. The card has a unique number by which the satellite identifies the recipient, allowing him to receive discrete data. In turn, the “fisherman” catches the entire stream, all the user information from some provider. To catch something worthwhile from this stream, you need special grabber programs that have filters where you can specify file extensions, size, etc. The only thing is that grabbers identify a file not by extension, but by the file signature, so you will additionally need to download codes with filters. You will also need renaming programs to sort files into directories, remove unnecessary ones and clones.
Who knows, maybe you will be able to catch something “big” or stumble upon information from the “Top secret” section, which will bring a little romance and adventurous notes into your life.
