Doesn't go into the recovery menu. Types of recovery menus and ways to enable them

Recovery - what kind of program is this? Translated from English language into Russian "recovery"- This "recovery". Recovery is a program preinstalled by the manufacturer on the laptop’s hard drive or in internal memory smartphone, which allows you to roll back the device (laptop, phone, tablet) to its factory state. On smartphones, this program is launched from the off state by simultaneously pressing and holding the power button and the volume button (usually “up”, but sometimes “down” or both at once) for a few seconds. There is no such uniformity for laptops.

How to run recovery on laptops

After turning on the laptop, we begin to feverishly press the keys:
F3– MSI recovery;
F4– Samsung. Under the OS you can via Samsung Recovery Solution;
F8– Fujitsu Siemens. In general, it often allows you to get into other laptops (through troubleshooting) proprietary utility for Recovery.

F9- ASUS recovery;
F10 - Sony VAIO. Under OS it is possible through VAIO Recovery Utility;

Clamp- Rover

While there are no problems with the Android phone, the list of functions in the Recovery menu is of no interest to the average user. But some time passes and even the most reliable device begins to slow down. There are problems with scrolling pages, they take a long time to load simple applications, etc. That's when the Recovery Menu comes to the rescue.

The Recovery menu allows you to work with the firmware of your smartphone or tablet and create backup copies of user data.

Recovery mode is built into all Android devices without exception. With its help, you can solve all the accumulated problems in one fell swoop by rolling back the device to factory settings. In addition, here you can initiate the flashing process by independently selecting the files to work with.

Another very useful feature menu - creation backup copies. There are many applications and programs for personal computer performing the same tasks. But why resort to additional options, if your phone or tablet already has a very convenient and effective tool? The user is free to choose the data that he wants to save as duplicates. It can create a copy of the entire system, or “save” individual sections.

The main advantage of this backup tool is that it does not require the device to be operational. normal mode. The smartphone may not start due to viruses, global errors in the firmware and other problems, but the Recovery mode will boot in any case and offer to protect the data.

Login to Recovery Menu

First of all, you should come to terms with the fact that you won’t be able to enter Recovery mode from normal mode (by at least, if you don't use it special applications, but more on that later). PC users who use two or more operating systems on the same machine are familiar with this: to run an alternative software part, the active OS will have to be turned off. Therefore, we turn off the phone or tablet using the power button, the same as always.

Then you have to choose a combination to switch to recovery mode. On devices different types different combinations can be used. Fortunately, there are not many common options.

Manufacturers see no reason to complicate access to Recovery mode and use only a few standard combos.

The standard method is to use the device buttons

Try the following combinations in descending order of popularity:

  1. Press and hold the device's Power button and Volume Up button at the same time.
  2. Do the same, only now do not increase, but decrease the sound of the turned off gadget.
  3. Try the triple combo. The device's "Start" button, one of the volume control buttons, the "Home" key (usually located in the central part of the space under the screen, but in selected models may be on the side).
  4. Repeat the previous option, only this time hold down both volume keys.

If nothing happens, then you got a device with a unique option to launch the recovery menu. Try to find information online if the manufacturer is one of the leading brands. But in most cases, such problems arise with nameless Chinese devices, instructions for which are simply missing.

Experiment! On modern gadgets mechanical keys quite a bit. It's easy to go through all the available combinations. Something will work.

An alternative way is to use special programs

Perhaps you still prefer not to take matters into your own hands and trust automatic decisions.

In this case, use one of the many applications to reboot your phone in alternative modes. They can be easily found by the word Reboot in the name.

After installing one of these applications, choose from the few Reboot Recovery options and wait until the recovery menu appears on the screen with a broken upside-down robot in the background.

It should be noted that such programs will not be able to work without ROOT rights, so you will have to worry about transferring the phone to superuser mode.

Pay attention! Trying out key combinations is much faster, more convenient and does not put the device in a vulnerable position.

How to work in Recovery mode?

The successful launch of the mode is indicated by the above-mentioned green robot on a black background. A red warning sign flies out from the robot's core, as if to hint that the menu should only be used in case of serious problems.

It won’t be difficult to navigate the meager list of commands even inexperienced user. But management can cause some difficulties, since without a loaded system Android touchscreen does not read a signal from the outside, but works like a regular display.

In most cases, you can scroll through menu items using the volume control keys. And the choice in this case is made by the device start button.

But there are also models that allow you to scroll through the menu in only one direction, most often down. In this case, to confirm your choice, you need to press the volume up button.

Exit Recovery Menu

In some versions of recovery mode (especially in gadgets from unknown Chinese companies), menu item text may vary slightly. Therefore, we don’t worry and look for an item that offers a reboot system without verbose additions. IN standard version this item looks like Reboot System Now.

Sometimes, even after a reboot, the device may start again in recovery mode. This is a warning sign that may indicate serious hardware problems. But sometimes the normal mode does not start due to minor problems, which are easy to eliminate.

Try one of the following emergency options:

  1. Press and hold the device's start button for at least ten seconds. This is similar to pressing the restart button on a frozen computer and solves most problems by resetting the settings, returning you to the recovery screen.
  2. Remove the battery, wait a few seconds, and put it back in.
  3. Disconnecting from the power source is also perceived by the gadget as a large-scale reboot.
  4. Wait full discharge device and try turning it on again after slightly charging the battery.
  5. Connect the equipment to your computer and reset it using ADB RUN or another similar program.

Remember: simply entering the recovery menu does not have any restorative effect on the gadget. To solve problems with your phone, you will have to roll back to factory settings or install new firmware.

If you don’t know how to enter recovery, these instructions are for you. Here we list everything possible ways completing this task.

1. Use the keys

The easiest and most common way to log in Recovery Mode is to turn off your smartphone/tablet and press two or three buttons on the turned off (this is important) device.

Here are all the currently known combinations:

  • volume up + power button (Lenovo, HTC, Samsung, Meizu, Xiaomi, Sony, Huawei, Fly, Asus, Doogee, Bluboo, Blackview, Oukitel, Elephone, UMI and other Chinese devices);
  • both volume buttons + power key (Lenovo, Sony);
  • volume down + power on (Nexus, HTC, LG, Huawei, Motorola, Fly, Asus);
  • Home button + volume up + power (Samsung);
  • Home button + power (Samsung);
  • turning on + volume up until the logo appears and raising the sound again after it appears (relevant, for example, in Sony devices).

Depending on the manufacturer, the pressing method may vary. Sometimes you just need to press and hold until the Android recovery menu appears. In some cases, pressing all or one of the buttons once is sufficient.

On LG, you need to hold down the above keys exactly until the logo appears, and then release and press once again.

In Motorola, after using the combination, the so-called Fastboot Flash Mode will appear. Using the same volume keys you will need to go to Recovery Mode.

It's not that simple and Asus phones. There you need to hold down the buttons until vibration appears, and after that only hold down the volume. This should be done until the desired mode appears.

Happy Xiaomi owners, when using the appropriate combination, will see a set of tiles with Chinese characters. There is no need to be afraid. Every Android device has specific mode, called Android Recovery. It is used for recovery correct operation phone. In it, you can reset all the settings of your smartphone back to the factory or originally installed ones. In addition, this mode is used to flash the phone's firmware and obtain Root rights. You will learn further in this article how to enter the recovery menu on Android.

Methods of getting into recovery depend on the brand and specific model your phone. First of all, it is advisable for you to rummage through the instructions or look for information about exact model your phone on the Internet. Here we will point out a few relatively standard methods how to open the recovery menu for different devices. But first you need to do something else.

The first thing is reinsurance. Making a backup

Backup - from the English "back up" - is the common name for the process of backing up data on your phone. Why do this? If something goes wrong and your data disappears, you can still restore it. What could go wrong? Sometimes flashing a phone or opening access to root rights, instead of improving the functioning of the system, on the contrary, “breaks” it. Therefore, if you are interested in how to enter the recovery menu on Android in order to upgrade it in the future, make a backup first.

Most often this option is hidden in the " General settings". Most likely, you will see the inscription " Backup and reset." As you can see, if the phone is working properly, it is not necessary to go to the recovery menu to reset the settings. You can do this in normal mode work.

How to enter the recovery menu on Android: basic button combinations

If you need recovery mode because your phone refuses to behave well, then, naturally, through “Settings” we will no longer be able to reset the state to restore the system. Usually, in order to get into recovery, the volume buttons and the power button are used.

The combination depends on the model and brand of your phone. Most likely, you will need to press the following at the same time:

  • "Volume Up" and "Power";
  • "Volume Down" and "Power";
  • "Home" (button at the bottom of the screen) and "Power";
  • both volume buttons, “Power” and “Home” (obviously, the creators of Samsung assume very virtuoso finger skills from the owners of their devices).

What is Android Recovery?

After you have entered recovery, most likely you will see the picture shown in the photo.

This is an example of a standard recovery menu preinstalled on the device. Depending on the model, Android version and brand of your smartphone, it may look different. You will navigate through this list using the volume keys, and use the power button as a confirmation button. IN this list has the following functions:

  • updating the system from external media;
  • Factory reset - critical system recovery without saving any data;
  • clearing the cache (downloaded information) of all applications on the smartphone;
  • installing an update from the smartphone’s memory;
  • that same system recovery using the backup you made;
  • device firmware with external card memory.
  • Custom recovery menus

    If you downloaded a special recovery menu to your phone, then it, unlike the preinstalled or “native” one, will be called custom. The main reason for the existence of alternative recovery menus is the more advanced functionality of custom versions and various additional features, for example, in installing unofficial firmware.

    The most popular custom menus are Clockwordmod Recovery and Team Win Recovery Project. If the first one is similar in control to a regular recovery menu - using the volume and power buttons, then when the second one is running, the touchscreen remains active. As in the main mode, you control the process by touching the buttons on the screen (see photo below). This is certainly convenient if the screen works without errors. If the “glitch”, because of which you need to go into recovery, is in the screen, difficulties will arise.

    USB debugging: how to enter the recovery menu on Android from a computer?

    In order for you to be able to enter the recovery menu of your phone from your PC, first take the time to find and download a special program to your computer that makes this possible. But even before that, look for the “USB Debugging” option in the settings of your device - you will find it in the section for developers. Then download AdbRun on your PC. And from there, knowing the commands for the console, you can control some functions of the recovery menu.

    Now, if suddenly the recovery menu on Android does not open in the usual way on the phone itself, you can connect the device to your computer using a USB cable and control it from there.

    Leaving gracefully: how to leave the menu

    If you entered this mode out of curiosity, and now you are worried about how to exit the recovery menu on Android so that it does not lead to irreversible changes to your data, let us dispel your worries.

    Most often, exiting is much easier to do than entering the menu. In most known recovery menus this item It will even be first on the list - Reboot System Now. Even if you can’t do this, you can cheat and do what all users usually do first of all if the phone “glitches”: reboot using the power button, remove and reinsert the battery, or in the end just leave the phone to discharge - later it will turn on again in normal operation.
