Models, key chains and their interchangeability.

There are three types of old model keychains, two-button, three-button and five-button. In the photos, unfortunately, there are only two types, two-button keychains have a rectangular and black case with square buttons.

Three-button keyfobs are found on the Super-Nova2 and Saber2 models. Five-button - the most common type of key fob, it is equipped with alarms of the Cyber-5.9 models; Concept-10,20,40,50,60; AvantGuard-3; Intelliguard-700,800,900, etc. The color of the keychain body can be gray, black and wood-like.

The latter type of keyfobs can replace three-button ones, but I have not tried the reverse operation. Problems with the operation of key fobs are described in the articles, and the key fob (alarm) does not work part 3. You can add that very often the big one fails - the central button of the keychain, the replacement of the button helps. The keychain LED is also often soldered off.

Sirens.

I already wrote about Clifford sirens in the Clifford Alarm Sirens article. It makes no sense to repeat yourself. The only thing that can be added is that the Medallion siren is a powerful speaker, the control circuit is assembled in the alarm unit itself, and if you replace it with a simple siren speaker, the latter can quickly burn out. Often there was a malfunction in the form of burnout of the output stage on TIP 31 and TIP 32 transistors working just for this siren.

Instability of work.

This is the sore spot of these alarms. The fact is that when the power is turned off, a slow voltage drop occurs on the alarm processor, then the generator fails and the alarm goes into an incomprehensible mode. We were often contacted with a similar problem and sometimes it is enough for the alarm unit to just lie down for several hours on the table to completely discharge all the capacitors. And then manipulations with the "Jack" button and key chains revive the alarm.

If, after all, the key fob does not come to life, then it makes sense to try to program it again (or the key fob (alarm) does not work. Part 1 or the key fob (alarm) does not work. Part 2). If Clifford has a coded Jack mode, then you need to know the code or try the factory code "2". If all the above operations do not help, then it makes sense to change the memory chip. The microcircuit ratings are usually erased. The memory chip has eight legs and is located next to the processor. Instead, it is necessary to solder a new, obviously clean (from the store) 93LC46 (or 93C46). Then, after turning on the power, try to enter the code "2", perhaps the last operation can be repeated several times. Next, you need to program the remote controls and all functions according to the table for this model, strictly following all conditions and notes.

Chip ratings.

Besides the memory microcircuit, I had to change only one worn out microcircuit. It was ULN20003, it is responsible for the operation of the central locking relay, blocking, additional channels, etc. Therefore, it is not very difficult to calculate it.

Functions of programming tables.

There are situations when, after a failure in the operation of the alarm, undocumented functions are activated. This was the case with the Saber 2 model. The programming table does not indicate the central locking control point from turning on the ignition switch. In this case, you can try to enable or disable a function not indicated in the table, not forgetting that two siren signals indicate on, and one off. If the necessary changes in the operation of the signaling do not occur, then it is better to return the state of the function back.


Important: When replacing the memory chip or other failures, it is advisable to program the state of the functions without connecting the alarm to the car. Because Some functions, for example, central lock operating time, can bring the vehicle equipment out of standing.

Shock sensor.

Several times there was a sensor malfunction on the Cyber ​​9 model, it simply did not work, regardless of the adjustment. An autopsy revealed the destruction of the TLC272CP microcircuit (A).


Volume sensor.

On Cyber ​​- 5 models, false alarms often occur due to self-excitation of this sensor. This is usually determined by a self-test LED. From time to time, the sensor board became very dusty and oxidized from condensation, with the client's consent, this sensor was removed, of course, washing with alcohol and a brush would probably revive the sensor, but since this erases part of the protective layer of the board, oxidation can occur very quickly, especially in winter.
