DNS Tablet - "The DNS Air Tab e101 is a simple workhorse for a reasonable price." universal soldier Install ClockWorkMod and root rights

Installing ClockWorkMod Recovery and rooting an Android tablet is not very difficult. It is enough to follow the instructions and you will succeed. In this matter, ClockWorkMod itself, the superuser application, drivers for our tablet and the Odin program will help us. I must say right away that the described method is not suitable for everyone, but for most owners of Android devices.

First, let's understand a little about what ClockWorkMod Recovery is and what root rights are.
ClockWorkMod Is a modification of the standard recovery mode (Recovery), which allows you to install custom (modified) firmware (how to install firmware on a tablet), do a data reset (wipe), restore and back up your data and much more that you will never do on your tablet. ROOT rights- analogue of a computer administrator in the Windows environment. Allows you to modify and delete files of the Android system. If we again draw the analogy with Windows, then this is something like the ability to get into C: \ Windows and change hidden files and folders. With the Superuser helper application, you can grant root privileges to other programs.
I will not divide the instructions into two parts and write separately about installing ClockWorkMod Recovery and about getting root rights on tablets. We will do all this within one instruction at a time. Let's get started.

Installing ClockWorkMod and root rights

1. Download it yourself ClockWorkMod from clockworkmod.com for your tablet model. Just find your model in the list and click on the version number in the second column called Download Recovery. Choose what to download very carefully. If you download ClockWorkMod not for your tablet, then there will be problems. Move the CWM file to a folder, the path to which does not contain Russian letters.
2. Download the program SuperSU version 0.96. Basically, you can search and download a later version of the Superuser app, but the suggested version has been tested many times, so you can definitely trust it. Downloading Odin from here.
4. Download drivers for your tablet from the manufacturer's website (Acer, Samsung, HP, Sony ...) and install as administrator. 5. Disable antivirus and all the left programs in the background, such as a player, a browser, and so on.
6. Copy downloaded from item 2 SuperSU to the tablet memory card. 7. Launch Odin and click on the button PDA... We select our ClockWorkMod in the window.
8. Turn off the tablet. Then we press the button Volume + and Turning on... We hold until the menu appears. If you need to confirm the action - click Volume-.9. We connect the tablet to the computer in this state (it is better to connect it to the rear USB port if you have a desktop, for laptops it does not matter; and use the original cable, and not the one purchased on Ebay, it is not clear which one). Odin should respond to the tablet connection by writing the port number and changing the color of the window to yellow or blue(depending on the Odin version).
10. Uncheck Auto Reboot in Odin, leave the rest of the settings unchecked. Push START.eleven. After completing the firmware, turn off the tablet and turn it on again by clicking on Volume- and Turning on... Keep them pressed again until the menu appears.
12. We entered ClockWorkMod, which we installed a couple of minutes ago. It remains to install the Superuser application. To do this, select in the menu install zip from sdcard -> chouse zip from sdcard, and select our SuperSU, which we downloaded in step 2. We confirm the choice.

13. After installation, select reboot system now... The tablet will reboot and you will get rooted and ClockWorkMod Recovery installed on your Android tablet.
If you can't install CWM and get root-rights, then your tablet does not do this in a standard way, and you yourself will have to find out how to do it.

DNS AirTab P83 | Introduction

Our test lab received a tablet from the DNS company, which belongs to the budget category - AirTab P83. The tablet does not differ in top-end characteristics, although the manufacturer's statement of support for "3D without glasses" cannot but interest. Will this tablet model from DNS become a worthy alternative to more expensive "brothers"? We will talk about this in our review.

DNS AirTab P83 | Design and appearance

The design of the tablet can be called "conservative": a black front panel, a gray side frame and a gray back panel made of soft-touch plastic, which feels like rubber and feels rough to the touch. The rear camera is in the upper right corner, and the front camera is in the center if you hold the tablet in landscape orientation. The stereo speakers are located on the rear panel at the bottom. All external interfaces are located on the right edge. All buttons, and this is the power button and the volume rocker, are on the upper left edge. Reaching the volume rocker is not very convenient, but you can get used to it, but in portrait orientation this arrangement of the buttons is very successful.

The back panel of the tablet sometimes came off during operation, but then easily got back up. In the area of the headphone jack, you can see a gap between the side frame and the rear panel, which is not very good. If you hold the tablet in landscape orientation, you can see that the display is shifted slightly to the left, but this does not bring any inconvenience to use.

According to DNS tradition, a leather case comes with the tablet, but we didn't like using the tablet in a case: the tablet looks even more bulky, heats up more, which reduces performance, and the buttons on the Android work panel are more difficult to reach.

The package includes a tablet, a clamshell case, a charger, a USB cable for connecting to a computer, an OTG-USB cable, and an instruction manual.

DNS AirTab P83 | Software

On the tablet, the OS was not the newest version of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream. Hopefully the next firmware version will be on Jelly Bean.

On AirTab P83, according to the DNS tradition, many applications are preinstalled, mainly Yandex applications, such as Yandex Maps, Electric trains, Weather, and many Internet applications for social networks are preinstalled: Vkontakte, Odnaklassniki, Twitter and others. The popular 2GIS application was also not spared: there is an installation file on the tablet, where a region is selected and maps are downloaded. It would be very convenient if the DNS company immediately installed the latest version of 2GIS on their tablets, taking into account the location of their sale.

No third-party applications for reading books, such as FB Reader or CoolReader, are installed, so AirTab P83 reads all books through a standard office application, and you will have to install the necessary program yourself. In addition to the standard typing application, as in other Android devices, there is the Go Keyboard, which is installed by default. You can use the option that suits you.

DNS AirTab P83 | Settings

The settings are standard for tablets, you won't get any surprises. The only thing that you can focus on is an item in the "System" called "CPU Mode Setting", where you can choose one of two processor modes: Normal and Power Saving. The second is for saving the tablet's battery. It should be noted that when the load on the CPU increases, the tablet automatically switches from saving mode to normal mode, so we could not carry out performance tests in saving mode. When watching a movie, the economy mode gave another 40 minutes of battery life, that is, about 20%.

There is also an HDMI setting, where there is only one item: "Enable auto switch", which is responsible for automatically turning on HDMI when the appropriate cable is connected. In Input Settings, you can choose to type using the standard Android keyboard or the GO Keyboard app. All other settings are clear, and we will not focus on them.

DNS AirTab P83 | Browser

In addition to the standard browser, Chrome from Google is installed on the tablet, which allows you to synchronize bookmarks, passwords and other information with Chrome on other devices. Browsers work well, "heavy" sites do not load for long, videos from YouTube, "VKontakte" and other sites can be viewed without problems, however, we did not manage to take a screenshot of the Flash video being played. The SunSpider benchmark estimated browser performance at 1539.3ms. The result is not among the leaders, but it can not be attributed to the outsiders of DNS AirTab P83. For web surfing, a tablet will work well.

DNS AirTab P83 | Electronic book

There is no e-book reader preinstalled on the tablet, but you can install the app of your choice. The tablet should read all popular formats, although we would not recommend this tablet for reading due to the TFT panel used in the tablet. Still, IPS panels give wider viewing angles and better color reproduction.

DNS AirTab P83 | Music

To listen to audio files on AirTab P83, the Music application is intended. If for some reason this application does not suit you, then you can install the audio player you like at will.

DNS AirTab P83 | Video

Since April 2013, we have been using a new testing methodology for testing multimedia devices. It is split into several parts.

  • Popular formats- common video formats and codecs. It is recommended that their support be evaluated first.
  • DVD and Blu-ray Disc Images- check playback of full DVD / Blu-ray images, including menus. Recommended if you store your media library as images
  • Rare formats- less common formats, but still relevant
  • Ultra HD 2K and 4K- formats with an eye to the future. In 2013, ultra-high definition video will gain popularity

The tablet played a large number of films from our test collection, only a few were "heavy" for the tablet. However, we didn't really expect to play Ultra-HD video. Installing a third-party player can solve the problem of some videos that were not played by the tablet, all films and videos were launched on the standard player. Overall, the results are satisfactory.

In addition, if you want to play video on a TV or monitor, then the tablet has a corresponding mini-HDMI connector that allows you to transfer the signal. Unfortunately, there is no mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter included.

DNS AirTab P83 | 3D support

3D technology without glasses is not so common, it is not familiar to all users. Therefore, we decided to begin with explaining the principle of operation, so that readers do not have skeptical thoughts and doubts about this function. The 3D effect is achieved using a parallax barrier that is applied over the screen of a tablet, phone or TV. This barrier consists of a layer of material with thin slits that allow each of the eyes to see its own set of pixels that make up the image. This effect can be seen on some calendars, in which the picture changes depending on the viewing angle.

Accordingly, the main disadvantage of this 3D system is a strict limitation on the position of the viewer (perpendicular to the center of the screen), and the resolution is also twice as poor as in 2D, since not one image is formed on the display, but one for each eye, then there are two. We recommend reading more detailed information on the Around 3D website.

Now let's talk about the implementation of this function on the DNS AirTab P83 tablet. The tablet has two applications for viewing videos and images in 3D: 3D Player for videos and BIPicture for images. We checked the videos and pictures that were originally uploaded to the tablet. We really got the 3D effect, especially the video with the snake, which seems to crawl out of the screen. Unfortunately, the 3D effect cannot be shown in screenshots or photographs.

The downside is the low quality of the 3D picture and the long search for the angle from which the 3D effect is most noticeable. We think that not everyone will be able to withstand an hour and a half of watching 3D films, as even after a few minutes the eyes began to get tired. The pictures were also well viewed, however, they did not cause so much impressions, unlike the video. The 3D Player application has several modes for viewing surround video, including vertical or side-by-side formats.

Many are wondering if the tablet can play 2D movies in 3D. Unfortunately, there are no miracles. Image from 2D to 3D is poorly converted on the tablet: desynchronization of images for the left and right eyes becomes noticeable, you will not get comfortable viewing. Therefore, in 3D, we recommend watching only movies encoded in 3D.

In the offered players, we were unable to output Blu-ray 3D, but we successfully played transcoded movies in MP4 H.264 / AVC with side-to-side stereo pair. Don't be discouraged, though: there are many 2D to 3D conversion software out there, such as HandBrake. It is enough to convert the video you need using the instructions from the w3bsit3-dns.com forum. Conversion takes place taking into account the screen resolution of the device and the stereo pair (vertical or horizontal).

Overall, the tablet's 3D performance is satisfactory. It works well and may well attract users who like to watch movies in bulk. DNS AirTab P83 just captivates with a unique 3D function, which has recently begun to appear on the tablet and smartphone market, although it is still rare. But before buying, we recommend that you make a personal impression of 3D, that is, come to the store and evaluate the 3D function in practice. The impression from her is very subjective, so decide for yourself.

DNS AirTab P83 | Camera

The tablet has a 0.3 MP front camera and a 2.0 MP rear camera. The front camera is not good, but it will still be sufficient for video conferencing. The rear camera also does not work miracles, but it takes good pictures of the text, which can then be read.

Below are the pictures with the rear camera. Click on the picture to view the uncompressed version.

Below is a snapshot of the front camera. Click on the picture to view the uncompressed version.

We also include a test video captured with the tablet's rear camera. You can download the uncompressed version at cloud.mail.ru (4 MB).

DNS AirTab P83 | Performance

CPU performance

We tested the performance of the 2-core Amlogic AML8726-MX processor of the DNS Airtab P83 using Linpack. Results are reported in millions of floating point operations per second (MFLOPS).

The CPU performance is quite typical for a modern 2-core processor.

Overall system performance

We used Smartbench 2012 1.0 benchmark to assess overall system performance. These tests are very similar to the 3DMark and SysMark packages, as they provide simple and convenient performance indices for two categories: productivity applications and games. On the other hand, the synthetic benchmark may not accurately reflect the real performance of applications and games.

You can compare tablet results with other smartphones and tablets at http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/

Productivity application performance (green bar) is at a pretty decent level for a 2-core CPU. Graphics performance remains similar to many other "budget" tablets, although we shouldn't forget about the slightly higher resolution of 1280x800, which is good for 8 "diagonal. In general, the tablet should handle Android games well, with the exception of the" heaviest "ones. But we will come back to this question in our gaming tests.

JavaScript performance

SunSpider is a JavaScript benchmark that demonstrates both the performance of a tablet's JavaScript engine and the processing power (to a lesser extent) of hardware. Poor JavaScript implementation on a very fast tablet can blur the entire platform's performance. And yet, the great JavaScript implementation will make it possible to efficiently use even slow systems. However, today the main implementations of JavaScript engines are getting closer to each other, developers are borrowing all the best ideas. JavaScript tests are single threaded due to the nature of browsers. The SunSpider benchmark avoids many of the micro-benchmarks that we see in applications like GeekBench, while at the same time the benchmark attempts to evaluate the CPU-sensitive tasks that are found in real web applications.

Below are the results for SunSpider 0.9.1 on Android tablets and phones. Android devices use the Google V8 JavaScript engine

The smaller the result, the better. We got 1539 ms, the tablet will not "slow down" even when loading "heavy" pages.
Quite a decent result.

The CPU performance is in line with other "budget" tablets, second only to the new 4-core models. The same can be said for GPU speed. The performance is not record-breaking, but for the 1280x800 resolution it is quite good.

Relative Engine

This test is designed for growth, no Android-based devices should show really high results, the graphics level is much higher than the gaming average, so even if the results here are not the best, you can get quite good results in real games. Consider that 60 fps in this test is already the Xbox 360.

The result was 6.4 fps. You won't be able to play "heavy" games, but the tablet will cope with undemanding games.

Network bandwidth

We tested network performance using the IxChariot benchmark. We used an 802.11 b / g / n router with 1 Gbps ports. The tablet was at a distance of about 1 meter from the access point. We tested the maximum available network mode (802.11g or 802.11n), at this time there were no other active transmissions, no interference was found in the network coverage area either.

The result is not the best, we got a throughput of only 7.9 Mbps, although for many competitors it is 20-30 Mbps. Apparently, the tablet does not use the fastest WiFi module or an unsuccessful antenna configuration. However, this speed will be enough for the Internet.

DNS AirTab P83 | Game tests

The test results do not always correspond to real performance, so we decided to carry out tests in real conditions.

For this, three applications were selected:

  • Cut The Rope is a casual game with simple and beautiful animation
  • Epic Citadel - Unreal Engine Demo with Built-in Benchmark
  • NFS Most Wanted is a modern game with powerful graphics

These tests validate performance under a variety of conditions and provide an estimate of actual performance.

In games, frames per second (fps) are an important factor. The higher it is, the smoother the perceived game. Frame rates below 30 fps can lead to jerks and other unpleasant consequences. Frame rates below 15 fps turn the game into a slideshow, you can hardly enjoy it. We took the average frame rate during the test run in the selected game.

Cut the rope

We decided to test the tablet on regular casual games played by many people in order to have a good time. Since the user can play them for hours, a good frame per second (fps) rate is an important indicator, because not everyone can watch a twitchy picture for many hours. We tested the tablet operation on Cut the Rope HD.

The result was 49 fps, which is more than enough for a comfortable game on a tablet. So the DNS AirTab P83 does an excellent job with casual 2D games.

Epic citadel

We have added the Epic Citadel gaming test, which is a demonstration of the capabilities of Infinity Blade's Unreal engine for Android OS. The test has different .apk and cache for different GPUs, so you need to take your versions for the test. We used the latest 1.05 for Mali-400 downloaded from Google Play. The test was carried out only in High Quality mode. We excluded the High Performance mode from the tests, since the results differ insignificantly, and we are interested in the performance of the tablet relative to other models. You can see the results below.

The 26 fps result approaches the magic threshold of 30 fps, but still falls short of it. So the tablet is still rather weak for modern shooters, but if you get used to it, you can play. But from time to time, jerks will manifest themselves.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted

To test the performance of "heavy" and demanding games, we chose NFS: Most Wanted. To install this game, you have to download the cache for each device separately, it was not possible to find something common for devices even with the same GPU, and the cache itself "weighs" 2 GB, an archive of 600 MB is downloaded. Therefore, get ready for the fact that you will not be able to play right after installation, you will have to pump out the cache.

Alas, the tablet does not cope with "heavy" games: the result was only 12 fps, which is very low for a comfortable game.

DNS AirTab P83 | Battery life

Thanks to a 2 A power supply and a 5000 mAh battery, the tablet charges quite quickly - a little over three and a half hours. However, the battery life in games and movies is also low - you get from three to four hours. All tests were carried out at maximum brightness, which is not at all necessary during operation, you can gain a few more tens of minutes by lowering the brightness. Also, switching to economy mode allows you to add about 40 more minutes while watching a movie or reading web pages.

DNS AirTab P83 | Conclusion

The tablet from DNS AirTab P83 will completely satisfy ordinary users who do not impose high demands on technology. The package contents are quite complete, but an adapter from mini-HDMI to normal HDMI would not hurt. The case has a number of minor flaws, but overall it looks reliable, although not everyone will like the rubberized plastic. It is worth noting that during operation the tablet gets very hot even under moderate loads, it becomes uncomfortable to hold it in your hands. Perhaps this is the fault of the case, which does not provide proper heat transfer. Accordingly, the tablet heats up even more in the case, which affects the performance (it decreases). The tablet itself looks neutral, but the tablet display is shifted slightly to the left, which may indicate its correct operation in portrait orientation, although the display shift is not so noticeable in landscape orientation. The location of all buttons and external interfaces is standard and does not cause any particular complaints.

Cameras do not set records, but for shooting from time to time, when there is nothing else at hand, they will do. The front camera is enough for video conferencing, and the rear one for taking pictures of texts even in dim lighting. The speakers are loud, everything is heard well and clearly, but at maximum volume it is clearly noticeable how the high frequencies begin to crackle, which makes it uncomfortable to listen to something or watch a movie, so we recommend not setting the volume to the limit. The speaker placement is good for watching movies if the tablet is secured to a stand, otherwise your hands are covering the speakers. The screen does not please with high resolution Retina, although for 8 "diagonal 1280 × 800 has already become the standard. But HD movies can be watched comfortably. It's a pity that the TN panel, and not IPS. As a result, the horizontal viewing angles are quite acceptable (landscape orientation), But the vertical viewing angles are not encouraging.The sensor of this tablet turned out to be worse than the previously tested one, which costs almost half the price, the sensor step is large and the tablet "did not guess" some touches, but you can use it, the notes on the sensor are not so significant.

In terms of performance, the tablet is inferior to the top "budget" models with an 8 "diagonal, which have already switched to four cores. But you can not classify it as an outsider either: we get a typical 2-core" middling ". The 7" tablet of the same DNS company has better performance. than this model, although the price is slightly lower and the screen size is smaller (like the resolution of 1024 × 600). In general, the tablet's performance is enough for all the main functions, but it is better not to count on demanding 3D games: this was shown by both synthetic and gaming tests.

In the case of the tested DNS AirTab P83, the manufacturer decided to attract buyers not with performance, but with an interesting function that distinguishes the tablet from other competitors. Of course, we mean 3D support without glasses. Quite a tempting offer, and the manufacturer declares not only support for this function, but also the possibility of converting 2D images to 3D. We were skeptical about such information, so we decided to test it in practice. First of all, we launched a 3D video, which is already available on the tablet, and, I must admit, we were surprised: the video was really voluminous, and it was quite comfortable to watch it. Not all 3D formats are supported (this applies to Blu-ray 3D), so prepare yourself for the fact that you will have to convert movies or search for videos in the desired format. But the process is simple. Converting 2D to 3D did not convince us, but we did not expect miracles in this respect.

Despite the average hardware, the tablet plays most movies well. "Heavy" movies 1080p 60 Hz, Hi10P and Ultra HD are less suitable for a tablet, although if you select players, then some of them can be "stretched". So we do not recommend playing movies with a resolution higher than 720p, but given the screen resolution, it makes no sense to play 1080p and higher anyway. In the case of other non-playable files, the problem may be resolved by installing an alternative player. By the way, the tablet does not natively support external hard drives, which is a serious disadvantage today, since many users already prefer portable HDDs as drives due to the large volumes of films of modern quality and format.

Charging and battery life is also a serious consideration when choosing a tablet. Thanks to the good 2A power supply, AirTab P83 charges quickly: about 3.5 hours. However, the battery was quickly discharged: when playing an HD movie, the tablet lasted a little over 3 hours, and in the game 3.5 hours. Lowering the screen brightness can increase battery life, as can putting your tablet in Eco mode. In terms of battery life, the AirTab P83 tablet again lost, the battery test results were good. Judging by the presence of 3D, the tablet can be attributed to a multimedia line, so we would like a longer battery life.

Alternatives... The performance leader in our lab is worth mentioning:. In terms of screen size and resolution, it is comparable to the P83, but the matrix used in the Parus Quad is already IPS, which gives better color reproduction and viewing angles compared to the TN in the P83, and the results of many tests go far ahead. This is primarily due to the 1.6 GHz 4-core processor and 2 GB of DDR3 memory, but the price remains on the budget level and does not significantly exceed the price of AirTab P83. Let's wait for a 4-core 8 "tablet from DNS!

DNS AirTab P83 advantages

  • A large number of pre-installed applications
  • Nice browser performance
  • Play most movies
  • Glasses-free 3D support
  • DNS service network throughout Russia

Disadvantages of DNS AirTab P83

  • Lack of portable HDD support
  • (Only) Android 4.0.4, I would like 4.1 / 4.2
  • Short battery life
  • Small vertical viewing angles (landscape orientation) due to TN matrix
  • Poor wireless performance
  • Heats up a lot during work under load, especially in a case

In this review article, we will talk about the tablet computer of the Russian company DNS, which is engaged not only in the sale of devices, but also in the assembly of computers. Our review included the dns airtab m83w tablet, which in terms of its technical characteristics pulls for a budget model, more related to mobile devices.

Device appearance

As you can see, this model does not have a revolutionary design, everything is standard and unchanged. However, some technical parameters raise questions, but we will consider this a little later.

Tablet box

The appearance of the box was very pleasantly surprised, very bright pictures, the name of the model and its main characteristics are written in large letters. It often happens that the device is sealed in a one-color box without identification marks and the question arises, maybe there is nothing there?

Tablet set

The factory kit of this model includes a special case for protecting and carrying the tablet, a charger, an operating manual, micro-USB for synchronizing with a computer, host-USB for connecting external devices, for example:

  1. Keyboard;

    External drive;

Back of the panel

On the back of the tablet there is a front-facing camera, the logo of the manufacturer's company. On the top edge there are two loudspeakers and a slot for a memory card, by the way, a very large slot for such small memory cards.

Bottom edge of the tablet

On the bottom of the tablet, you can find: on the left, a headphone jack (3.5 mm), a micro-USB port, a mini-HDMI port, a connector for charging the device and a microphone, respectively. On the side faces there are only two functional buttons - an on / off button (standby mode) and volume control.

Additionally: during charging, the power button lights up with a red indicator, and if the battery is completely discharged, the indicator goes out.

The buttons are fluted enough that they are easy to operate. All ports and connectors are also labeled with a grooved pattern, and even in the dark they can be felt. The minimalism in the buttons is very pleasing, since there are enough of them for the full-fledged operation of the tablet. Sometimes you can get lost in a huge number of piled up buttons.

Specifications

The first surprise was the eight-inch display, which is not standard for 7- and 10-inch tablets, namely 8-inches, but it looks quite interesting and beautiful. The second, not a very good surprise, is the TFT display, not the IPS as expected. But not in spite of this, the screen supports five simultaneous touches and has a resolution of 1024x768 pixels.

The device is equipped with a dual-core processor with a clock speed on a RockChip RK3066 chip and a graphics processor (4 cores) on a Mali 400 MP4 chip. The RAM is 1 GB, and the internal memory is 8 GB, but due to the memory card slot, as mentioned above, it can be increased to 32 GB. The tablet also has a front and rear camera, 0.3 and 2 megapixels, respectively.

Weighing 450 grams, its dimensions are 205x122x11.5 mm. The tablet is also equipped with a Wi-Fi module, which allows you to surf the Internet, chat with friends, work, and also download applications from popular Internet sites, but we will consider this below. The Android 4.0 operating system is not only easy to set up, but also multifunctional when working.

The device supports formats such as TXT, HTML, PDF, FB2, JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, MKV, AVI and others, and its battery life is from 7 to 10 hours.

Setting up your tablet

So, as mentioned above, the tablet is equipped with Android 4.0 OS, and there are a huge number of articles on the Internet that describe in detail its setting, but in order not to search and not waste time, today we will consider the main stages of setting up the tablet.

Main desktop

As you can see, nothing new, everything is familiar and already well known. In the lower right corner, when you click on the time, the Notification Panel appears, which displays information about the processes of installing new applications and various notifications (cleaning, updates, detections, etc.). Here you can also adjust the brightness of the screen, connect via Wi-Fi to the Internet, turn on silent mode, airplane mode, synchronization with a PC, screen orientation and go to the settings of the tablet itself.

To access the settings, go to the Main menu of applications (6 squares, in the upper corner of the screen).

Main application menu

As you can see in the picture above, the main menu contains all the applications that are installed on the tablet, with a slight movement of your finger to the left to the right horizontally, you can navigate between the tables. So, we find the icon "Settings" and click on it. To access the widgets (interface elements), we find in the top line "Applications / Widgets" and get access to them, to place them on the desktop, just click on them and that's it.

Tablet settings

As you can see, there is a huge number of settings for the owner to choose from, which will help to customize the device individually for each of the owners. Since the tablet does not have a SIM card slot, the mobile Internet can be configured via external modems, but before buying it is necessary to check the compatibility, since sometimes it happens that after buying one does not see the other.

The modem is connected via host-USB by going to the settings "More / Mobile network / Access point (ANP)", "Menu button - New point", enter the data of the cellular operator, which can be obtained on the official website.

Most often, only the following fields need to be filled in:

Name - any

APN (Access Point)

    for MTS: internet.mts.ru;

    for BeeLine: internet.beeline.ru (if you use a SIM card from a USB modem, then APN must be replaced with home.beeline.ru);

    for Megaphone: internet;

    for Tele2: internet.tele2.ru;

    Username

    for MTS: mts;

    for BeeLine: beeline;

    for Megaphone: not entered;

    for tele2: not entered;

    for MTS: mts;

    for BeeLine: beeline;

    for Megaphone: not entered;

    for tele2: not entered.

Setting up a 3G modem

That's it: we reboot the device and use it for health. To connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi, select the Wireless / Wi-Fi item, put the slider in the Power on mode, wait for the network scan, select an access point, connect, enter the password and use it.

Memory Tab

In the "Memory" tab, you can get detailed information about the state of the memory (how much is occupied, how much is free), find out which files are occupied by the space.

About Tablet Tab

You can get detailed information about the tablet, what operating system is, check updates, build number and kernel version, as well as the model of the device itself.

Registration in the online store Google Play

Over time, the installed applications on the device will not be enough, so we will consider the stages of registration and obtaining an account to log into the Google Play service to download and install additional applications. First, we need to get a mailbox in Gmail in order to get an account on Google Play.

In the browser, in the address bar, write "google mail" and wait for the download (it's better to do this on a PC - it's more convenient), similarly going into the browser, you can do this on a tablet.

Application form by mail from Google

After registering and receiving a mailbox, we remember our mailbox and go directly to the "Play Store". The shortcut is in the main menu of the application, we find the shortcut "Play Store" (bag with a triangle). We go in and get to the main page of the online store.

Home page

Click on the icon (3 squares) and a menu appears, as in the picture above. Click on accounts and move on to the next item.

Add new account window

Click the "Add Account" button and go to the next window.

The window for adding an existing and new account

Click on the "New" button and go to the next window.

Name and Surname input window

Email input window

Enter your email, the mailbox you just received on Gmail, and click next. Then we enter the password, and that's it: you have created a new account to enter the application service. After that, re-enter the applications, if necessary, enter the password and mail, and you can start downloading applications.

Downloading and installing apps from Google Play

So, you have already received an account, now the opportunity is open for you to download both paid and free applications for various needs, for example:

    To work on the Internet;

    Work with video and music;

    Text editors and programs for reading books;

    To communicate with friends;

    News programs and stuff.

Since the Android OS is the most popular among devices, it becomes a very good target for intruders, so installing an antivirus is a must-have application for the stable operation of the tablet.

Home page

To find an anti-virus in the search, as in the picture above, write “Anti-virus” in the search bar, or select the “Dr.Web” application on the main page (green shield with a spider).

Antivirus page

Confirmation window

On the page you can see user reviews, antivirus descriptions, pictures, get information about the developer, and also see similar applications. To download and install, click the "Install" button.

Click "Accept" and wait until the antivirus is installed on the tablet, which will notify you with a message in the "Notification panel". Now you can use your tablet without worrying about protecting your personal data. Be sure to periodically check your device for viruses and update the program itself.

DNS AirTab M83W is a powerful enough tablet PC at an affordable price. It has good hardware and technical characteristics.

Tablet PC DNS AirTab m83w:

This gadget was bought on August 31, 2012 in one of the DNS stores in the city of Izhevsk on the occasion of an impending birthday at a price of 5390 rubles (by the way, the price at the time of writing the review had dropped to 4990 rubles), before that I had been looking for a compromise between price and functionality for a long time and decided to take either Air Tab e71 or Air Tab e72. As a result, the balance swung towards the Air Tab e72. In general, I went to the store, went to the stand with the tablets, within 5 minutes after the inspection I decided to take the e72 model, despite the completely discharged battery, the device was checked by connecting the power supply, the equipment was checked (about it a little later), the documents were drawn up, and voila - I'm the new owner of a cool tablet.

The selection criteria were as follows: Android 4 on board, a processor of at least 1 GHz, 1 gig of RAM, 8 gigabytes of built-in memory, and a 7-inch screen with a good resolution of 1024 by 600, all this was in the DNS Air Tab brand Internet tablet e72, plus a nice bonus in the form of GPS. The device comes in a nice cardboard box with basic specifications and a cool alien.

The package includes a tablet, a mini-USB charger, a USB cable for the host, a cable for communication with a computer, a cloth for the screen and headphones.

The appearance of the tablet does not shine with an exquisite design, a black bezel around the display, the back cover is silvery, I just can't figure out if it's plastic or it's still metal (the store's website lists metal), although judging by the price, I think it's plastic, on the front panel there is a nominal peephole cameras for skype - 0.3 megapixels, that's all. On the back cover there are slots for speakers and the DNS brand emblem, a hole for a rezet, and the name of the model and the country of origin - of course, China. TFT display, resolution 1024 by 600, viewing angles are not very good, but no complaints, as I understand perfectly well that it is a budget option. I haven't experienced it in the sun, but I think it will go blind.

At the top, there are microUSB connectors (used both for charging and for connecting external devices, which is not good), mini HDMI (only no cable ☹), of course, a standard headset jack, a microSD connector.

On the right side of the tablet there is a rocker - a volume control, a "home" button, a screen lock button and a switch.

The device comes with an installed Android 4.0.3 operating system and a minimum set of programs, the most important thing is the Play Market, and what you need is you download it via Wi-Fi or in another accessible way, there was also a native browser, file manager, Mail agent, voice recorder, program for communication "in contact", Yandex maps, navigation from Google. I installed all the necessary programs without problems through the market, I just dropped some of them onto the memory card and installed them through the file manager. All programs work correctly, without brakes, films are drawn with a bang, books are read with the help of Cool Reader, I don't really play games, but I installed several for testing, I think gamblers will be quite satisfied with this option. The device is equipped with a GPS module, it catches satellites in an open area just fine, installed a couple of navigation programs - everything works fine ☺, it recognizes 3G modems immediately without installing additional software (for example, MTS 3G modem HUAWEI E171). The 4000 mAh battery lasts 3-4 hours on average.

Summing up this brief review, I will say that the device suits me completely in all respects, I will naturally use all its capabilities. So far there is nothing to compare this tablet with, I didn’t use a similar model from DNS E71, it has a resolution of less than 800 by 480, no GPS, the price is somewhat lower, but it has undoubtedly one advantage - a full-fledged USB host and a separate outlet for a charger ... Score 9 points, minus 1 point due to the lack of a separate outlet for charging. The device can definitely be recommended to all fans of devices on Android, gamers, car enthusiasts with a limited budget. Thanks to all.

DNS Air Tab e101 fell into my hands in exchange for another more advanced DNS tablet that was handed over under warranty for the duration of the examination, after which, I hope, the money will be returned to me. According to the idea, they should have given me a DNS Air Tab e101 in a complete set, but there were no headphones and a case in the box .... Well, then, the DNS Air Tab e101 has such a set, if not, let the DNS staff fix me. So, a little about the technical characteristics: a processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of Flash memory and support for microSD cards, a 10.1 "TFT display with a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels, built-in WiFi module, Android 4.0, two cameras, the most powerful of which 2 megapixels. Feels like a heavy enough tablet for its size, but not critical. DNS Air Tab e101 feels very solid to the touch. The display screen is glass,

Which probably gives him weight. Touch control

on the DNS Air Tab e101 tablet it is not perfect and very "thoughtful", sometimes you have to press it twice. On complex games, the DNS Air Tab e101 clearly slows down + the thoughtfulness of the sensor .... In general, you don't even need to try to launch heavy "toys". The battery is fully charged in 5-6 hours, and discharges, with active use, in three hours. I didn't really like how Odnoklassniki looked and worked on the DNS Air Tab e101, but it was tolerable. To use the DNS Air Tab e101 as a mobile device, Internet access, there is no question, since I did not find a SIM card slot, then I read the technical specifications and realized that I was looking for nothing. So, sitting on the bus or with friends on the bench,

You will not be able, for example, to view your mail, unless, of course, there are no WiFi access points nearby.
So, my conclusion: as a workhorse for checking mail and social networks at home and at work, the DNS Air Tab e101 will work fine, if, of course, there are WiFi access points. It is also suitable for simple games and listening to music, watching TV, radio, everything is at a fairly average level. The appearance of the DNS Air Tab e101 is quite attractive. So if you need a simple tablet that you do not mind losing or breaking, then the DNS Air Tab e101 will suit you. But it is worth remembering that buying products from little-known brands is always a lottery, lucky, it will work, unlucky, it will break and it's good if it is within the warranty period!
